My Dad has thrived since becoming a resident at Victoria Mews. He is well cared for and his needs addressed and accommodated for. It is a huge weight off our family's minds to know he is safe and secure. The staff are very welcoming and should be proud of the care and service they provide.

There is always a warm welcome in on our arrival with every effort made to make our visiting time the best it can be. The staff are very friendly and during our visits, I have seen nothing but kindness and understanding shown to all residents. The home has steadily improved in its appearance and the
lounge is a comfortable place to sit and enjoy social occasions.
We enjoy being kept up to date with little stories about our mother-in-law makes us feel that she is cared for and understood.

I find the Staff so very patient and caring, not only to my Husband but to myself. I am treated with so much kindness. I know my Husband is being lovingly cared for. The situation is very painful; losing the Husband I used to know feels like constant grieving. The atmosphere at the Care Home is always
cheerful, and there are always hugs available. I didn't know what to expect on my first visit but came away feeling that my Husband would be cared for and kept safe.

I visited my friend this week and the home looked so lovely, they have made some nice changes to the lounges.
The home has all their Christmas decorations up and the people living there look very happy.

Would not use this home but at the time we weren’t given a choice. Obviously can’t go into detail about our experience but it still haunts and upsets us to this day. Thankfully our relative is living in a wonderful place and is like a different person to when they were at this home. The whole experience
was extremely distressing for us as a family, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. This review probably won’t be allowed but I feel so upset about our experience and I can’t stop thinking about it. I feel very strongly about the awful experience me and my family went through and I feel I can't move on and I will never forget what happened.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Victoria Mews Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the care your relative received while they were living in the Home. Whilst it would be inappropriate for us to discuss individual matters, we feel it is important to state that we have discussed the issues that have been raised with all of the relevant people and services. We appreciate this will have been a difficult experience for yourself and your family but do not feel it is representative of the overall quality of care and support provided by our colleagues at the Home. Once again thank you for your review – all feedback helps us continue to improve the service our Residents and relatives receive. If it would be helpful to discuss this in more detail, please contact Operations Support on 01325 351100.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.617)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.617) out of 10 for Victoria Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.917 for Victoria Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria Mews Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
