We are generally happy with the care and attention given to Mum. Her overall health has improved since moving to the home, and she is usually contented.
However, because of her dementia, we are unable to comment on some of the issues of personal care such as bathing, meals, drinks and socialising,
as her communication with us is very limited.

Mum is here, they are kind and caring. I can’t say a bad word. The team work extremely hard and are always pleasant.
Hairdressing and chiropodist services are available, the girls always find time paint mums nails too, amazing.

We have been very happy with this Care Home, since dad moved there 8 months ago. He is always clean well fed and seems content. There are always staff members around to look after residents needs, and answer visitor queries. On a few occasions staff have pre-empted medical issues and ensured that appropriate
treatment was sourced.

This home has a very good reputation and the modern block has lovely rooms and facilities. From day one, Mum aged 95, never settled. She was permanently thirsty, complained that she never had enough hot drinks and rarely had jugs of water in her room. After numerous complaints, this was never sorted,
so much so that she had two UTI's while she was there, something she is not prone to. She was not bathed for 8 weeks because someone forgot to put her on the rota. After 6 weeks when we discovered this, another 2 weeks passed and we were made to feel a nuisance when we kept asking has she had a bath yet? Mum has had days where she has not been washed or had her hearing aids put in. She has been left in her room with the door shut and staff have forgotten to put the buzzer within reach. She really disliked the food, too. After a stay of only 5 months, we have had to move her, because she felt neglected and unhappy (her words). Cannot recommend this for those who are frail and need proper care.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to read that Mum's stay at Oriel did not meet your family's expectations. As Mum had moved to Oriel from another care home, it is understandable that she didn't settle straight away, however, during Mum's stay, she was regularly offered drinks and often asked for them herself and had a second cup. Although dehydration can lead to UTI's, it is important to add that other matters can also be a contributory factor. Additionally, Mum was given body washes regularly by staff during her stay and when the matter of bath times was raised, the Home Manager rectified the situation immediately. Feedback from families is very important to us, and we are sorry if you felt uncomfortable by raising your concerns. We hope that our meeting to review Mum's care prior to her departure was useful, and we will use your feedback as part of our quality assurance process moving forward. We also hope that Mum is happy and settled in her new care setting.

My brother in law was lonely after my sister passed away. He has Parkinson's and was quite confused. Since moving into care the family have seen a difference. He is chatty and we can see he enjoys interaction with the staff. He has peace of mind about medication and enjoys being 'looked after'.

My mother has been at Oriel for four and a half years now, and has enjoyed her time there. The staff are friendly and professional at all times, and have always been prompt to inform me of any matters that need my attention. Her room is clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and easy chair. Meals are
varied and nutritious. I would highly recommend Oriel to anyone wishing to place their loved one into their care.

Since my mum has been residing at Oriel Care Home, she has received excellent care throughout. Mum is very poorly, and the staff always go above and beyond to ensure she is as comfortable as she can be enabling them to meet Mums many medical and emotional needs. Kowing that Mum is receiving the care
that she is; gives us great peace of mind as a family during this very difficult time.

My relative has lived at Oriel Care Home for 3 years now. She is very happy and settled there. She is well cared for, her bedroom is light and airy and very clean, her meals are good and she has varied activities most days. The staff are friendly and very helpful and despite being so busy, always have
time to talk to you. There are regular updates and meetings with the management and I couldn’t be happier with her care.

Oriel has provided excellent care to my often challenging parent. Their staff seem to go above and beyond and they try always to provide a high level of care. Oriel is well managed and provides a range of activities for its residents who seem very happy to be there. The environment is homely, clean
and well maintained. I am confident that my father is safe and being well looked after, which has been most reassuring during these difficult times.

My mother needed to go into a care home in May 2019. I visited several homes in the Stourbridge area prior to this and felt Oriel Care Home provided/offered the best service for her needs. It is very homely with dedicated and lovely staff. Mum feels very comfortable with them.

My mom moved into Oriel at the start of lockdown which was a very difficult time. They settled her in and treated her like one of the family, which was a great relief. The staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful, most have been part of the team for a number of years, which speaks volumes. They
also ensure that she stays fit and healthy, and any concerns are dealt with immediately. I cannot recommend them enough.

It's difficult at this moment in time to appraise Oriel Care Home as I have not been able to visit personally since early March. However, everyone there must be doing a wonderful job as the Covid-19 rates are almost zero. My aunt has dementia, as do other residents, so it must be very difficult for
the staff to keep things as normal as possible. I would like to say a big thank you to all staff at Oriel. Waiting to visit when we can.

An excellent choice of care home. Mum has lived here for over 5 years. The home is relatively small, and so has a really cosy and homely feel to it. The staff are the key to it's success, and all are friendly and welcoming, and know me by my first name. The staff are very caring towards all residents
regardless of their needs. Mum had two medical emergencies requiring hospitalisation just before the COVID lockdown, and these were dealt with very well. Since COVID the home has had an enviable success rate in avoiding infections amongst the residents, and they have dealt as well as possible with the difficulties which the enforced isolation has caused for residents and their families.

The vast majority of the staff are lovely, very helpful and really care about the residents and their welfare. Oriel is incredibly clean considering the nature of the business and it is the only care home I've ever visited that does not smell of urine. The food looks and smells nice and frequent activities
are arranged if the residents wish to take part. My only criticism would be that my gran's underwear keeps disappearing despite her initials being on them and that after 6 months, a few of the staff still don't know how she takes her tea.

Oriel House has been home to my mother for over 18 months and she has been happy with her stay. Although she talks about the food, she still easts all her meals. The carers are very attentive to all the residents and there is always a smile from the carers.
