Well-managed and care staff that are motivated to give their best to support the daily needs of residents. There is a good structure and consistent routine that benefits residents who are situated in the communal area. Carers and support staff organise a range of ad-hoc and organised activities to stimulate
communication. Communal spaces and individual rooms are clean and well-maintained. Outdoor space has a nice little garden with a seating area and a separate indoor area for activities. There is a good dynamic between management, carers and residents and visits to residents are easily made with ample car parking and space in the communal area. From my experience, Stanbrook provides a good quality, consistent and trusted solution.

Stanbrook Care Home was adequate for my stepmother's needs but under the control of the temporary manager, it is excellent. Her needs are all taken care of. The room that she is in is clean and tidy, the bathroom is clean with all the necessary things she needs. She is clean and some of her problems
seem to have disappeared. In fact, she seems reasonably content.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Stanbrook Care Home. I'm delighted to hear that the care home has provided excellent care that meets your stepmother's needs under the temporary manager's leadership. It's wonderful that her room and bathroom are kept clean and tidy, and she can access all the necessary amenities. The fact that some of her problems seem to have improved and that she appears reasonably content is the best outcome we could hope for. Ensuring our residents' well-being, comfort and contentment of our residents is our top priority. I'm pleased we have been able to achieve that for your stepmother. We will continue working diligently under the temporary manager's guidance to maintain this high level of care and create a welcoming environment for all our residents. Thank you again for the positive feedback - it's encouraging to know we are positively impacting our residents' lives.

I have found Stanbrook Care Home to be extremely supportive in the care of my mother. Any issues have been handled swiftly, and the communication from the nurses has been without fault. All staff are approachable and kind; this has given me much-needed reassurance during a very difficult time. My mom
was discharged from the hospital with complex needs, and the reassurance and support went above and beyond care. Mom liked the day staff and the owner gave so much support and advice. I couldn't have gotten this far without them - big thank you.

Thank you for your lovely comments and wonderful review. We recognise how difficult it can be to place the care of a loved one in someone else's hands and are delighted that you are pleased with the care your mother is receiving. Reviews such as yours are always helpful to others who may face the decision of placing someone into a caring environment.
I will be sure to pass on your comments to the manager and staff, who work extremely hard to deliver great care.
Thank you again.

When my brother first came to Stanbrook Care Home I was a little concerned he would not like being in a residential care home. But my worries were ill-founded as he now engages with other residents and staff with ease. He has adapted really well and tells me he loves it here.
The staff are really
friendly and attentive to the resident's needs and I am regularly informed and updated if there is any problems such as lockdowns due to coronavirus.
The home is always clean and free from bad smells and a pleasure to walk into.

My father settled in so well. The staff are so on the ball. After a few days, they asked to change his doctor, reminding me several times of his hospital appointments. Keeping me informed of any sickness etc.
His room is lovely, although we can't get broadband or internet, so he can watch his videos.
He's clean and tidy and so much more "with it" than before. He has even found a lovely ladyfriend, and they love talking together.
He's only been in a week or so, so unsure about what activities, food etc they get up to.

It's a troubling time when moving, in this instance my mom, from their long-time home into a care home. Both my wife and myself were worried that my mom would deteriorate very quickly, but the opposite has happened. She has and is settled so well that when I/we visit, it's remarkable the improvement
that she has made. My mom even decided to go on one of the many organised trips out, something that would have been unimaginable back in January 2022 when she arrived.
This is down to the care and encouragement that she is receiving, and believe me, this is an absolute godsend to both my wife and myself, who now have peace of mind. From conversations with my mom, she loves it at Stanbrook, so well done to all concerned, and please keep up your standards.
There are times that there are some minor communication breakdowns between ourselves and some staff, but nothing major, and whatever this is, we are always listened to.

Thank you for your kind review. I will pass this on to all the staff to show your appreciation.
We will continue to provide the best possible care, and I do hope that communication will be improved in the future.

Like everyone else, you are apprehensive about placing a loved one into care. This can be such a distressing time for family members and also a change for the person who has to be placed into care. When my mother-in-law became a resident, I felt completely supported by the team, and they were so welcoming.
The team and the manager always keep us informed of any changes or information in relation to my mother-in-law. I have found them caring and patient, and most of all, I have seen my mother-in-law become happier; she loves it at Stanbrook and loves the company of having people around her; this has been the one big change for the better. The team have put our minds at rest, and we are absolutely totally confident in the care they provide. We cannot thank them enough. I would highly recommend Stanbrook.

Although we have not been able to visit inside the care home, my mother has said it is a wonderful place with excellent staff who cater to her every need, and the food is lovely. As a family, we feel she is very well cared for. The communication between the home and the family is first class, and we
feel confident in being contacted immediately should there be an issue. We are regularly updated about Mom's health and care home policies. The manageress is a fantastic asset to the home, and all the staff are friendly, approachable, 'the best' according to Mom.

Mum was transferred into Stanbrook during the covid pandemic. The family were extremely concerned as mum had been a resident in a previous home 6-months earlier where she was very frightened and unhappy. The whole family have been so pleased with the way mum has settled into Stanbrook. She is well cared
for, enjoys the food, has put on a bit of weight, and most importantly is happy and not frightened any more. The staff are lovely and have gone out of their way to help during the lockdown, arranging skype calls so I can see and talk to mum. I have only been able to see the home from outside, but it looks modern, clean and bright. The home contacts me immediately if they have any concerns. It was a hard decision realising mum could no longer cope living independently, and I have viewed numerous homes before mum settling into Stanbrook. The whole family consider themselves very fortunate to have found such a caring home for our lovely mum.

I am very pleased with the care that is given. It was a very difficult decision to put my mum in care in February. She has settled very well and is happy. I think the extra company has helped her. The home rings me and email me to update me. They answer any questions I have quickly. They are very good
and keeping me informed about my mum's welling being and health. It's a small care home which I like and it's great to hear that my mum is well-liked. The staff always have time to speak to me and they celebrated my mum's 80th birthday during lockdown. They send me pictures and we do video calls. They are doing a great job. I'm really happy with this care home.

It has been a very stressful time having to accept and make the decision that my father-in-law should now be in residential care. After 6 weeks in hospital, he was moved to a temporary nursing home, but social services decided it was not the right place for him and that he needed to be moved once again.
Stanbrook was found for him and my husband and I visited on spec to view it and were very pleasantly surprised. The residents seemed happy and content and the staff were very helpful. My father in law has dementia which means change causes him upset and distress. He spent most of his days sat in the dark on his own. On the day he moved, I was so worried about him. But I couldn’t believe it when I walked in and there he was sat chatting away with the residents and staff, laughing and joking. He was like his old self. It brought a tear to my eye, I knew then we had brought him to the right place. The staff are great and the manager is very knowledgeable and keeps me informed.

I personally wasn’t happy with having to put my dear friend into a home when her husband was taken into hospital, but I must say, I was put at ease straight away. The way the residents are treated is amazing, and everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Different activities take place to get residents
to interact with each other. The staff's patience is second to none, and nothing is to much trouble. The friendliness is brilliant, and you can see how happy my friend is being there.

My 91-year-old father spent a week in Angel Court as an emergency when my mother, who was his sole carer, was taken into hospital.

He was perfectly happy there and well taken care of - even if staff did refuse his request for a third breakfast on the grounds it was lunchtime.

He engaged with

other residents, and I saw staff being kind to him and others in a calm and professional manner.

Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.650) out of 10 for Stanbrook Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.800 for Stanbrook Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.8

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stanbrook Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.6

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
