Primrose Hill Nursing Home comprises three units, each designed to provide specialist care and support for those people living dementia, complex nursing needs and those people requiring end of life care and support. To compliment the name of the home, each unit has been named after a much loved and unique flower -‘Forget Me Not’ Lane, ‘Penny Lane’ and ‘Red Rose’ Lane- depicting the three colours of the Union Jack. The home has been designed with careful thought and consideration given to Service Users’ specific needs, comfort and safety while retaining the features of an aesthetically pleasing, welcoming, homely and warm environment.

    • Our admission policy ensures that every prospective resident receives a thorough and personalised pre-admission assessment to determine whether we can meet their needs safely and competently. We involve the individual, their family, and any relevant professionals in this process, aiming to provide clear, accessible information so they can make an informed choice about moving into the care home. Key steps in our process: Initial Enquiry: We log all enquiries, provide an information pack, and invite the prospective resident to visit the home. Pre-Admission Assessment: We assess physical, psychological, and social needs, ensuring any necessary equipment or specialist care can be arranged before admission. Capacity and Consent: We follow the Mental Capacity Act, ensuring the individual consents to the process or that decisions are made in their best interests if needed. On Admission: The resident is welcomed, introduced to staff, and supported to settle in. Key risk assessments (such as falls and evacuation plans) are completed within 12 hours, and personalised care plans are finalised within the first week. Ongoing Review: A formal review is held within 28 days to ensure the placement is suitable and to gather feedback on the resident’s experience. Our approach is person-centred, aiming to make the transition into the home as smooth, informed, and supportive as possible. We also conduct regular audits to maintain high standards and ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

  • The team value the importance of visitors in the lives of residents and fully support their right to maintain contact with family, friends, and loved ones. The visitors policy ensures that visits are welcomed, safe, and respectful of each resident’s personal wishes.


    Key points of the policy:


    Open Visiting: Visitors are welcome at any time, unless a resident personally requests limited visits or there is an outbreak of infection, in which case the home will follow health and safety guidance.


    Resident Choice: Each resident can decide who they want to see, and this choice will be recorded in their care plan. If a resident lacks the capacity to make this decision, the Mental Capacity Act will guide the process to ensure visits still support their best interests.


    Visitor Registration: All visitors must sign in and out at reception and follow any health and safety procedures in place.


    Privacy and Respect: Residents have the right to refuse visitors, and this will always be respected. Visitors will not be allowed into other residents’ rooms without express permission.


    Food and Personal Items: Any food or personal items brought in for a resident must be declared to staff to ensure safety and dietary needs are considered.


    Infection Control: Visitors who feel unwell, especially with symptoms of transmissible infections (such as flu, COVID-19, or norovirus), are asked to postpone their visit until they are well.


    Conflict and Safeguarding: If a visitor’s behaviour poses a risk to residents, staff, or the home environment, management will intervene. In serious cases, visits may be restricted or conditions imposed, with advice from the Safeguarding Team if necessary.


    Outbreak Management: In the event of a public health incident, the home will follow local and national guidance, offering alternatives like video calls or window visits if needed.


    Feedback and Complaints: Visitors are encouraged to provide feedback and raise any concerns, which will be handled through the Complaints, Suggestions and Compliments Policy.

Dad was transferred to Primrose Hill in January 2020. A bright, spacious home with lots of character is what Dad needed and that’s exactly what he got. I can honestly say the care and support both Dad, my family and I have received has been, and continues to be, beyond outstanding. Questions are always
answered, reassurance is always given and a friendly hug is always available when things get tough. The staff at Primrose are incredible! They are helpful, kind, and considerate. I cannot thank the staff at Primrose enough for the care they provide Dad and the support they offer our family.

My husband moved into Primrose Hill in January 2020. The moment I first walked through the door, I was overwhelmed at how welcoming the staff were. I was treated with compassion by all concerned. As I was shown around, I was amazed at how staff were attending to residents with the utmost level of respect.
All residents were happy, some were involved in a variety of activities. My husband is so well looked after at all times. Any concerns staff may have are always discussed with me. Staff are always happy to answer any questions or queries I may have. Staff are always there to hand out hugs and reassurance when I am having a bad day. The cleanliness of the home is always of a high standard. The facilities of the home are excellent. Decorated to an extremely high standard. A varied menu is on offer. Rooms are decorated to a high standard and dementia-friendly. I would highly recommend Primrose Hill Nursing Home.

Carers are lovely but having my dad in there became very disappointing. No one takes ownership of complaints or concerns. Would never recommend this service for discharge to assess or permanent placement.

From the moment I entered Primrose Nursing Home, I instantly knew this was the right placement for my brother. Internally the home is bright, colourful and happy conducted by a wonderful, caring and happy team. There is a varied menu, cooked individually if required. My brother's care is undertaken
with great compassion and dignity. Activities are very much available if the patients want to participate. All staff are obliging, greeting all friends and relatives in a happy mode, offering guests refreshments on arrival and making them feel comfortable. Management staff are always available with time for discussion if required. All rooms, including bedrooms, are very welcoming, comfortable and kept to the highest standard of cleanliness. Also health, safety and security are paramount. I have the utmost regard for everyone at Primrose Hill. My brother is very lucky and so am I.

My mother was sent here as a step-down bed from hospital after breaking her hip. The staff have been amazing. They care for my mum so well, treating her with such respect and care while having a conversation and a laugh with her. They constantly check she is doing an activity she likes and move her
to the social area and when she tires they ask if she wants to go back on her bed for a nap. There is no all sitting round in a circle all day looking at each other. The food is healthy and tasty and there is no restriction on visiting at mealtimes which so many homes do. You can sit with your loved one while they eat. I am constantly asked if I'd like a coffee with Mum. The daily records are kept in her room so I can check if she has slept well and there is a written record of her being checked every hour throughout the night. Very impressive! This is why we have decided to leave Mum in this home rather than go back to her other care home. She is so happy there.

My father has been a resident for 10 months and was the second resident in this new home. The carers/nurses are excellent with everyone, not just Dad. He is treated with dignity. There are 2 exceptional members of staff who gave their all. The cleanliness of the home is impeccable. Food served in the
dining room at lunchtimes and is of a high standard.

Up till now, my sister has been there 3 months. Quality of care has been adequate to good. A permanent manager only just installed, first impression is very good. Have not met all the staff yet. Some seem to be a little distant, most are friendly, polite and show a good caring nature. A very small number
showing signs of stress, which shows in faces.

Although expensive by local standards, the environment is lovely with nice rooms with ensuite facilities, great communal lounges beautifully cared for except the gardens, which should be lovely but have just been left. The high point of the home though is the staff, caring and attentive, they really
are wonderful and I have no worries about leaving my mum in their care. Food is good and freshly cooked on-site and the whole team foster a caring and welcoming ambience.

My professional career in care stretches back to over 18 (eighteen) years. I started out as a career, supporting people with various requirements and ensuring that they had everything that they needed. This experience has taught me a lot about the care and what is involved in promoting independence and person-centred care.


I am always keen to encourage my team and help them to learn from the experiences that I have had. Over the years I have grown and developed, and I now hold my QCF Level 5 (five) Management Award. Over the years I have travelled the country to support the companies that I have worked for, I am a firm believer that there are processes to follow and I instil this wherever I am. I have been a registered manager for the past 3 (three) years, specialising in Dementia and Clinical Needs for the people I support, something that is personally close to my heart. My personal goal is to ensure that everyone receives the care that they are entitled to, with their wishes and past life experience at the forefront of their care plan.
