Our mother has resided at Meadowcroft Residential Car Home now for just over 12 months. We have gotten to know the staff quite well over the past year and have always found them very caring, professional and hard-working.

I have always been happy with the care provided to my mother. During September there has. Been a number of health issues with my mom and I have been kept informed at all times.
The carers all seem very caring people who look after the residents with affection.

My 88-year-old mom was placed here after coming out of hospital. I had concerns about her going into care, but don't know why the carers here are amazing, I cannot praise them enough.
Mom is quite a private person, she has dementia and mobility issues, but she settled really well with the care she
was given.
Thank you all for looking after Mom she is now back home with Dad.

My dad moved into Meadowcroft in May after a spell in hospital and is no longer able to look after himself.
The staff have been brilliant with him, and although, at 97 years old, he is coming to the end of his life, he is very happy.

My husband is physically well but has dementia. He had a urine infection and became violent, spending weeks in hospital. Meadowcroft is a small care home with excellent management and caring staff who deal with dementia patients excellently. The staff greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.
Their patience with the residents, activities in groups and one-to-one is excellent. They have let me do some gardening and look after plants with my husband. The food is very good. I cannot recommend it enough.

My mom has been at Meadowcroft since 2017, she's 98 now she's nothing like she was when she first moved as her Alzheimers is in the latter stages now. The staff love my mom as if she was their own, even though she's challenging at times. They call me wherever there's something I need to know, unlike
the care home my mother-in-law lives in. Wouldn't want my mom anywhere else.

My mum was admitted on a care to assess basis from the hospital. The home is situated in a rather grim area and the room overlooked an industrial space and was dark and depressing. The level of cleanliness was poor and a blocked toilet was left for some time and kept re-blocking. No one had cleaned
under the bed for some time and furnishings in social spaces were grubby. Staff seemed well-meaning but not enough of them and personal care was very hit and miss. It was difficult to find someone to speak to when visiting and mum was left alone in her room a lot. No real activities although did have a hairdresser visit which was a plus. The home was still adhering to covid protocols and visiting was quite restricted. Asked for a move to somewhere else asap as could not really meet my mum's needs.

Thank you for taking the time to bring your experience to our attention. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to those we support, and we take all feedback very seriously. Obviously, we respect your opinion on the location of our Home, however we would comment that the majority of visitors appreciate the warm, bright, pleasant smelling and homely environment that we offer our service users. As you mentioned we still adhere to strict Covid-19 protocols to ensure the well-being and safety of all our service users. We note that you visited the Home on one occasion while your mother was in our care. When you visited, you were met at the front door by a senior member of staff, and after showing your negative LFD test, you were requested to use our back stairs to proceed directly to your mother’s room.

We were surprised therefore that you commented on the social spaces, as you would not have seen these. You would not have been able to see what activities were taking place as you would not have been able to spend time in our communal areas where our extensive range of activities take place. You also would not have seen the number of staff within the Home at the time that you visited to comment on our staffing levels. However please be assured that our staffing levels are regularly assessed in line with the needs of our service users and are always sufficient to ensure their safety. We also have cleaners in daily to ensure that the Home is always clean for our service users.

We are sorry that you felt unable to speak to a member of staff, however the Manager or Senior on duty would have been more than happy to speak to you when you visited or any time you called. They would have also been able to show you the record of numerous activities that your mother participated in on a daily basis in our upstairs lounge which she loved to sit in and socialise with our other service users. Had you mentioned your concern about the toilet, they would have been able to explain that your mother was mistakenly flushing paper towels down the toilet which we then had to request the drainage company to come out and clear.

Once again, we are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations. Your mother was a lovely lady, and we really enjoyed her stay with us. We wish you and her all the very best.

My dad was admitted to Meadowcroft after having a fall at home and was admitted to hospital in January 2021. After having a swab for Covid 19 it came back positive, Dad was in hospital for a month. NHS placed him in Meadowcroft for respite where he stayed for 3 weeks, I cannot thank the staff enough
for looking after him. As a carer myself, I know how difficult it has become in the last year. Me and my 2 brothers are very grateful to the staff. Every phone call I made was very reassuring to all of my family, at one point during the year he was very poorly with Covid we did not think he would make it. Dad is now at home doing all the things he did before. Thank you to all the staff and management at Meadowcroft.

My mother has been a resident at Meadowcroft for over 9 years now. Throughout she has been cared for with the utmost respect, love and compassion with her dignity preserved at all times. All the staff are marvellous with her, and I can rest easier knowing that she is safe and loved. In these unprecedented
times, there has been regular contact by telephone to discuss Mum’s welfare and although I have not been able to visit in person I am confident that everyone is doing their utmost to provide a safe and caring environment for Mum and her fellow residents. Well done Meadowcroft, you are amazing.

Meadowcroft is amazing, my mum has been here for over 9 years. Her every need is met. The staff are incredible, and the manager treats every resident with such love and compassion. The meals are freshly cooked, nutritious and tailored for the residents, similar to a 5-star hotel. In these very uncertain
times with COVID-19, my family are deeply comforted by the stringent care and attention that is in place. We may not be able to visit at this time, but that is best for our mum and the other residents. These are our loved ones and we know they are in the best hands possible. Thank you, Meadowcroft, you are truly wonderful.

My mom spent the last 12 years in Meadowcroft care home, I can not praise this home enough. My mom was looked after by some of the most wonderful carers; they were the reason I slept easy at night. Mom's room was comfortable and cosy and always clean. Food was good and staff very friendly and accommodating.
The management went above and beyond, staff that really do care!!! I've been there day and night, I've been kept updated on Mom's health; even times where management returned to the home after working hours to check on my mom so my brother and I could get peace before sleep. It's not the most up to date home but the staff make residents feel at home. I would recommend this home highly, 12yrs is a long time to observe the home and its staff. Not once did we or my mom have had reason to complain. Thank you will never be enough.

My mom has called Meadowcroft her home for a number of years now and the staff always treat her with respect and dignity.
The leadership is excellent and every member of staff always gives 100% of their time and attention.
The home has adapted to the changing needs of its residents to ensure everyone
can continue to feel involved as best as they can.
I know as mom's dementia progresses she continues to be in safe and caring hands.
Thank you to all the staff for giving us this peace of mind.

Could not praise the home and staff highly enough. All staff are caring, professional, knowledgeable and kind. Meals are balanced and nutritious, lots of variety too. Every need of the service users is met. Excellent facilities and accommodation. Would have no hesitation in recommending Meadowcroft

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.296)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.296) out of 10 for Meadowcroft Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.696 for Meadowcroft Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.696

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowcroft Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 17 registered maximum number of service users is 3.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
