The Woodlands is an excellent home. The staff are friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and they do everything to keep the residents happy and well. It is like the most fabulous family. I can't recommend it highly enough!

My mother was resident at the Woodlands from January 2020. The care and kindness she received from the first day was wonderful. The room she had was purpose built with an en-suite and was always immaculately clean. Despite the constraints of Covid-19, staff have welcomed calls from family, shared events
and photos regularly and worked so hard. Sadly my mother died recently and I cannot thank the staff enough for their loving compassion for Mom and for us as a family. Highly recommend.

My mother moved into Woodlands with vascular dementia, COPD and rheumatoid arthritis in November 2020 after delays caused by the coronavirus. At every step of this difficult journey, the general manager and her staff have been superb. There is a sense of well organized yet calm operation at Woodlands.
The building is warm, immaculately clean and the carers speak in tones of respect to the residents. My Mom worked as a chef for many years and she enjoys the food here. When permitted to enter the home, closely following regulations, I have been made to feel welcome. Communication by phone and email is thorough and friendly and I am aware that an elegant effort is always made to answer my questions in full and with honesty. My overall impression of Woodlands is that it is performing an incredibly important and dedicated service to vulnerable people in a graceful, caring and natural way.

I cannot praise highly enough the quality of care my dad has received over the last three years. The caring ethos runs from senior leader at the top to all staff at all levels. The quality of care extends beyond residents to include family and friends. Staff have been a fantastic support t me aa well

My Father was cared for here for the last three years of his life. He enjoyed the beautiful gardens, excellent meals and the very kind and friendly carers. His last months were during the difficult time of Covid restrictions when everything was done to protect residents health, as well as considering
their emotional needs. When Dad was receiving end of life care, arrangements were made for me to spend as much time with him during his last few weeks as I wished. I not only felt relief that Dad was being extremely well cared for, but I also felt cared for myself, at this difficult time. I will always appreciate this.

Mom was cared for at Woodlands in the Spinney Unit for the last 18 months of her life when she was frail and suffered with dementia. The staff were always professional and looked after Mom with kindness and compassion. They took the time to get to know Mom and treat her as an individual and truly enriched
the last months of her life. We were always welcomed as family. The Woodlands has a real home atmosphere and the standards of care are set through strong leadership. The end of life care and the support we received were truly exceptional and we are thankful that we found the Woodlands as Mom’s last home.

Mum lived at Woodlands for 3.5 years, and it has been a happy association with all the staff at the home. Everyone has shown care and kindness to Mum (and her family) as she became more frail and moved from independence to needing more help. Any issues have been dealt with quickly, professionally and
sensitively by staff and management. Thank you everyone at Woodlands.

Mother was in the care of Woodlands for four year, for which I/we never had reason to complain. The staff and carers were always pleasant, courteous and caring to myself and my mother. My relationship with my mother in her last few years grew whilst at Woodlands. I used to very much enjoy visiting.

I feel the home has provided excellent care for my Uncle over the past few years and especially over the last year. When his Parkinsons worsened, the staff/carers did all they could to help him be involved in activities, help him personally and make sure he still ate well by helping him feed himself.
Never a complaint from my Uncle and he always stated he was very happy at the home.
Every time I visited, I was greeted with a smile from staff, his room was always clean, the common areas were clean and when I stayed for lunch, food was always good.
My Uncle passed away a few weeks ago from his illnesses but right up to the last minute, the staff treated him with dignity and looked after his every need without fuss.
It has been a pleasure knowing the staff and carers since my Uncle chose this as the home he wanted to be in and comfort in the way they looked after him.
This was simply a new address for my Uncle as this became his new home which he loved.

My mum had a fall and my father, her carer, found it difficult as he was ill at Christmas, so as my mum had attended activities, as she lives in the adjoining sheltered housing, she moved into the home for respite care.
She enjoyed her stay there, but more importantly, the homes assistance to rehabilitate
her to enable her to return to The Paddock to live back at home with their continued care assistance, allowing her to have a bath and join in activities again, so encouraging her independent living with my dad at home.

What a truly amazing care home. Every member of staff without exception made the last 7 months of my mother's life as comfortable as they could be. She was treated with the utmost dignity throughout. My father was welcomed into the community with open arms. He visited every day to sit with Mum and he
was made extremely welcome at all times. The care during and after my Mum's death was exceptional.

I have lived at the Woodlands for just over a year now. I feel very settled and content. The staff are caring and I enjoy the meals here. I have made friends with some of the other residents.
There are a variety of activities on offer and I enjoy the classical music group and going out into the lovely
gardens when the weather is nice.

From the moment my mum arrived at Woodlands Quaker, she was loved and received the most amazing care. During the last few weeks of her life, the respect and dignity we all received from the staff was faultless. My mum passed away peacefully receiving care right until the end.
Thank you Woodlands,

My family and I chose the wrong care home. We were taken in by the glitter and smart reception, we believed what we were told.
It was a disaster!
After several months of searching, we found The Woodlands Quaker Home, a home that not only gives excellent care to the residents but is also mindful of
the needs of their relatives.
The management team and all employees work with a smile but are always aware of their responsibilities.
In other words a proper caring, care home.

My mother spent 3 1/2 years at Woodlands before she passed away in June 2018. The level of care and cleanliness was always of the highest standard, staff were caring and attentive and despite her dementia, she was very happy there. A wonderful environment and visitor access at all times. I always had
peace of mind knowing that she was being well cared for.

My mother spent 10 years of her life happily living in the Woodlands, in what was a caring environment. My mother made many friends from both the residents and staff. She took part enthusiastically in many of the activities, musical events, scrabble, whist drive, keep fit and knitting. She also enjoyed
the food which was a good standard. When she was more mobile she enjoyed the garden party and outdoor events. I can only thank the staff for the wonderful care that was given especially in her last few months in the home.

We are delighted with the care and support my father is receiving in the Woodlands. The atmosphere is most friendly and welcoming. The caring staff exude a calm competence which gives both residents and their family a sense of ease and confidence. Staff members are respectful and considerate and are
aware of residents needs and wishes as individuals. On our visit to the Woodlands before my father became a resident we were assured: "This will be your home and we want you to live here as you have always lived in your own home". This assurance has been born out in the flexibility and willingness demonstrated in accommodating individual desires and requirements.

This is the lighthouse in the care home. It is exceptionally clean, tidy and non-smelling and homely. My experience is that every aspect that could be received by a resident is there, and if it isn't there, it is obtained. The staff are wonderful, caring and very quick to notice a residents needs. An
exceptional home for all elderly people.

This home has looked after my wife within an EMI unit. They have treated my wife extremely well. The staff have been kind and very caring. The facilities in the EMI unit are excellent and whenever my wife has been distressed the staff have always helped to comfort her. Medication is controlled and
supervised and the food is always of an acceptable standard. Hygiene has been very good. Her room is excellent and kept clean. The carers have been quick to answer any of my questions and there are always sufficient (more than) carers within the unit. My wife has always been treated with dignity and respect.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.835)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.835) out of 10 for Woodlands Quaker Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.935 for Woodlands Quaker Home is calculated as follows: ( (101 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.935

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Quaker Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
