Ganarew House is situated in a quiet Monmouthshire village and surrounded by attractive countryside, much to the enjoyment of those that receive long-term elderly and specialist care at the facility.

The home can house 36 occupants in total and is suitable for many with mobility issues, with good wheelchair access and staff that are trained in increasing the comfort of residents.

Many of the home's rooms have views over the Wye Valley and all residents benefit from the home's own minibus, which takes them often on trips to local tourist attractions and picturesque landscapes.

My nan has been a resident at Ganarew House since July 2021. All the staff are wonderful, so patient and caring. It has been a huge weight off all our shoulders knowing Nan has the 24-hour care she needs and is safe and thriving at Ganarew. Even though her working memory is now very poor, the improvement
in her physical well-being is evident. I have no hesitation in recommending Ganarew to anyone looking for long-term care for a loved one. I am so glad we were able to secure a room there for Nan.

My mother-in-law has been in Ganarew for over a year now. All the staff treat Mum like family, and I know she feels at home, loved and safe in their care. She has Alzheimer's and has great difficulty in talking and is unable to ask for what she wants and needs but the staff at Ganarew always give her
as much time as she needs. When I go to visit Mum, I feel like part of their family. Also, the food smells gorgeous.

Ganarew House, staff and management came to our aid at very short notice. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were required to find respite care rather suddenly and the manager and her team stepped up with empathy, compassion and professionalism. I could not thank them enough. My lady went in for 4
weeks of respite care, however, settled in so well, that it was decided to extend the respite to permanent care at Ganarew. The staff have been incredibly accommodating and have assisted in making the transition an easy and happy one for all parties. Activities, outings and one-to-one time is always fun and the staff do their utmost to ensure the residents are occupied and content.
As a personal care assistant, I could not recommend Ganarew more. Their residents are not just residents, they become family and are treated with the utmost respect.
Emergencies/concerns are handled swiftly and with minimal intrusion to others in the home. A big thank you to each staff member for their support.

Ganarew House is such a lovely place for my very elderly parents to stay. The entire team go out of their way to make them feel loved and cared for. They are always so friendly when we go to visit and the environment is light, airy and inviting. I am very confident that I have chosen the best place
for my parents to stay now that they need a bit more help than I could manage. Thank you to the whole team.

Ganarew is a fantastic care home and has done a great job of looking after my father. Due to unforeseen circumstances he had to move in during lockdown and Ganarew House, the manager and her team could not have been more supportive, kind and caring to make this happen as smoothly and calmly as possible.

This is a very happy caring home. The manager and her staff go far and beyond their duty to make sure the residents are cared for with dignity, are happy, safe and the food is amazing. My mum as settled in well, her room is always very clean and her clothes washed regularly and looked after. I could
not have asked for a better choice of care home for my mum.

Mum-in-law receives excellent, loving care. The food is first class. My daughter and grandchildren have been invited to lunch when they have visited. Mum-in-law celebrated her 100th birthday recently and the caterer laid on an excellent afternoon tea so that her family could celebrate with her in one
of the reception rooms. She thoroughly enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The management also arranged for a local reporter to call to interview her and take her photo. We are very grateful to all the staff for their hard work at all times and especially during the current pandemic.

Ganarew is a lovely home, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They go over and above what is expected of them. My mum has been there for over a year and she has had a stroke and has dementia. With COVID 19 the staff have been brilliant, they let us know how Mum is doing and we have been using Facetime
so that puts our mind at ease and also it is lovely for Mum to see us. The management and staff have done a brilliant job with everything that is going on at this time and I am sincerely grateful.

All the staff seem to always be happy and very pleasantly professional in all their duties and tasks, with a great deal of patience with all the residents - making for a pleasant visiting environment, especially bearing in mind the condition of some of the residents. We are always greeted and made welcome by the staff. My relative always looks clean and tidy. My relative always eats all the food which she is given, to which I feel is a very good standard. The staff are always very patient with my relative.

My mum has been a resident now for five years and it is a testament to the care she receives how well she is doing. Alzheimer's is a progressive illness and how slowly she is declining I believe is in no small part because of the care she has. The care is so personal - when Mum could walk around they
encouraged Mum to stay active and gave her little jobs to do like folding laundry, laying tables, etc. She used to tell me that she worked there and 'they have given me a lovely flat to live in'.
Fast forward five years and although Mum cannot walk any more, she is still happy and content, well-fed and not over-medicated. She is interactive with the staff whom she loves and trusts and they love her right back! I have witnessed the interaction between staff and other residents and the obvious affection that exists brings me to tears - it is so obvious that the staff here are all very special people and live for what they do. The manager and deputy manager, in particular, are second to none!

My dad has suffered from very poor health over the past couple of months and returned to Ganarew House after a stay in hospital. His care has been outstanding, he has been treated with dignity and looked after so well by everyone at Ganarew House.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their continued
support and kindness for his care and the support they have given us as a family.
Particularly to my mum who spends her days visiting and spending time with dad whilst he is in your care. A huge thank you goes to every single staff member for their exceptional care and kindness.
