My brother was in a care facility after a major stroke in 2020, then Covid happened, recently with some amazing help from social care a place was found in Holmer Court, it’s been a learning curve as my brother is a complex character, has his full faculties but needed a high level of care, at first he
found it hard to settle after spending upwards of 18 months in hospital and was then into a care facility while Covid raged. He was very distressed and angry.
He’s begun to settle in well at Holmer Court, there have been some teething troubles but the excellence of understanding by all the staff has been simply superb, he has been awkward at times and both the manager and her staff have risen to the challenges posed. He’s a picky eater and the cooks have helped enormously to satisfy his particular food likes. Overall, it’s always a difficult time when a family member enters care, but whoever may read this review I am happy to recommend Holmer Court as excellent!

I have always been impressed by the love, care and kindness shown to residents by staff. They treat all residents wonderfully, being very mindful of their dignity at all times. There is always love, laughter, humour, consideration and flexibility. The manager and staff are determined to create a loving
family atmosphere.
The home is always clean and tidy. As a family member, I was always made to feel welcome and formed strong bonds with many of the staff.
Over the last year, with all the problems of a global pandemic, I really appreciated the effort that management and staff made to make sure I could continue to see Dad without compromising his, or my, safety; this was so important to me.
All care homes should be like Holmer Court Residential Home.

My mum moved to Holmer Court in October 2020 during the pandemic, and the staff have been so kind during this very challenging time. It’s a lovely, friendly home, and the whole staff are devoted to caring for its residents with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. Mum does have some challenging needs,
which have all been addressed to enable her to settle well, and is now very happy in her new home.

My partner's grandmother is in this care home and during the lockdown, they have been amazing. We had our first child (the resident's first great-grandchild) and Holmer have regularly helped us to video call the resident and help remind her about the baby by sharing photos we have sent. She always seems
happy and well cared for too. Highly recommend.

The management and all staff have been extraordinarily kind and supportive to residents and family during an outbreak of covid 19. Their sensitivity to the concerns of the family, while the home was in isolation, was very good and reassuring. The home has managed visits well. It has also been apparent
that continuing care even during such pressured times has been good probably aided by consistent staffing. I would like to see a wider diet with more savoury or fruit choice. It is good that there are space and freedom to go outside.

The home is very friendly and always shows a caring attitude. My Aunt is well looked after in every sense and any concerns for her welfare are cascaded to me in a timely fashion. The home is always clean and smells fresh when you enter. My Aunt is very lucky to be in such a caring home.

My husband went to Holmer Court in January 2019, after spending time in 2 other homes in Hereford. I wasn't happy with either of the other homes. The care, if you can call it that, was not what I expected for the fees they charge so I took him away from both of them.
Now that he is in Holmer Court,
I am really happy with the care he gets from all of the staff and the rooms are really nice and homely and refurbished each time. I don't have to visit him every day now as I know he is well cared for and he seems quite happy and so am I. The food is good also.

The Manager and Staff at Holmer Court Residential Home have made my sister-in-law's life worth living again. My mother has been resident in Holmer Court for four years.
The reason we chose it was we called in one evening without an appointment and were shown round, it had a good ambience, was clean, smelt good and the staff were welcoming. Other places we had viewed by appointment were not as pleasant.

staff make the place, they are all very good, and entertain the residents to avoid boredom.

An awful situation to put your husband/best friend of 46 years in a home. I was treated with so much care, as was my husband. I have no complaints. All my queries are answered and acted upon with love and care.
The staff are all so well trained and caring, they speak every time they pass by and go
the extra mile in all they do.
The success of the caring has come from the top.
This applies to all staff, cleaners etc.
An awful situation has been helped by so many acts of kindness and care.

The home is more than myself and my family could ever have asked for, in terms of care for my Mum. The staff can not do enough for her, and also for us when we visit. The patience, care provided and love is second to none, and a real testament to the home.


Even if I won the lottery and could afford

the most expensive care facilities in the country, I wouldn't move Mum from somewhere so wonderful. I literally, as with my auntie, do not have a single worry about any aspect of the home.


I will be eternally grateful.

My visits can be any time, any day. I feel the home is well run. All the staff is very approachable if I need to talk about anything about my sister's welfare. I have seen the staff take very good care when attending to the resident's needs. I have joined in with singing, entertainment several times.
Residents really loving the church services, sewing, and quizzes. I feel the food is very good, they are well fed and plenty of drinks. Tea, coffee and biscuits always offered on visits.

My aunt got to the stage where she couldn't look after herself so I spent a day looking at care homes and Holmer Court stood out for me. The staff are all very caring, they have good food and keep me informed of everything, they are very friendly to myself and family when visiting and auntie is happy

Holmer Court is always welcoming. My mother is content there and appreciative of the good care she receives. She likes what she calls the family atmosphere and (unlike her boarding school days!) the fact that there are no bells or "roundups" at meal times or for getting up. I have only given the room
"satisfactory" because, in my opinion, my mother could do with a bit more space to keep her belongings from looking cluttered. However, she does not complain about this.

Working in a residential care home is like being with my extended family and family is what we are all about. We are so lucky to build such special bonds with the people we care for, which extends to their families and friends. The compliment of a family member entrusting us to care for their loved ones is an absolute privilege and we honour this by striving to deliver the excellent care and support they so much deserve.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Being an Activities Coordinator is about the little things more than the big. The moments in the day when you feel you have made a difference in people’s lives. This might be a conversation where I am told: “You brighten up my day; you are a ray of sunshine; oh good a pink lady they are the ones who can do anything; I know I can tell you as I trust you and you will help me; you know you are my favourite; I love you”.


It might just be a smile, a good morning where for that moment I am a face of comfort. I am a friend, and a family member different to each person but always a person they know and trust. A face of love and contentment that makes my job worthwhile.
The time and effort I put into getting to know each Resident individually so that I become familiar and loved.


Seeing a Resident do something unfamiliar to them such as dance, sing, talk, walk, little milestones rewards me for the input I put in.


It is not just a job it is an extended family that includes the staff. They are my support bubble, and we are there for each other in the good times and bad. Building relationships with the families is also very rewarding being the stopgap to be an ear for any concerns they may have and making them feel welcome into the home. We rally together in times of need and ultimately do our roles to achieve the best possible life for everyone.

I joined Holmer Court in 2016 on a part time basis as a cook and following support from the Manager, Claire and my colleagues, I went to full-time after 12 months.
During this time, I got to know every single resident personally, their likes, dislikes & personalities and the love that is in Holmer Court made me feel like part of a second family.
I’m now the Receptionist and PA to Claire and absolutely love it. Everyone at Holmer Court is amazing and I could not imagine working anywhere else. To be able to be a part of a team providing so much loving care to all our residents makes me feel proud.
