I would like to thank everybody at Burcot Grange for looking after my aunt who was in for respite care. I found everybody kind and helpful, her room was lovely, light and airy with lovely views over the garden. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. Thank you.

My father has just returned from three weeks excellent respite care at Burcot Grange Care Home. He will soon be 90 and whilst very lively for his age, he had become rather frail and wasn't eating properly. The isolation of Covid had not helped and as my sister and I live at some distance from him, we
were worried that he would continue to deteriorate. Knowing the excellent reputation of Burcot Grange it was the obvious choice for our father and we were delighted when he was offered a place straight away. The admissions advisor was so helpful and responsive and all the arrangements - including the vital Covid testing - fell into place very quickly. My father's room was of a very high standard and the staff very attentive to all his needs. He much enjoyed the change of surroundings and the food was excellent and plentiful. My father is brighter and stronger for his stay and he would certainly return to Burcot Grange for respite or permanent care. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Burcot Grange with my husband. I am not strong, having severe scoliosis with arthritic pain. The staff were courteous, kind and helpful all along and I couldn't pick out any individuals, they were all good. They oversaw my medication and helped me where I needed it. I liked the rooms and
it was a good time apart from feeling too unwell to do much.

My wife and I were staying for two weeks respite care and our records, likes and dislikes had been well kept from a previous stay. The staff were all very helpful and went the extra mile for us. The maintenance, cleaners, catering and care staff all reflected Burcot Grange's aims/values. For me, in
good health, the well-kept gardens were a refreshing extra and were even enjoyable in our winter stay. I was in need of a holiday and Burcot Grange came the nearest I could get to having one, with my wife's needs so well catered for.

Burcot Grange was recommended to me by several people when I was looking for somewhere my father would be cared for properly. I was very impressed by it on my first visit and I've been to see many, many care homes trying to find somewhere good enough. Burcot is far better than any other home I've seen.
The staff are without exception very gentle, patient and caring with residents and very helpful to their families. It is very rare to find a place where residents are treated with the respect they deserve and are able to keep their dignity. Burcot does it and the home and its surroundings are beautiful. It definitely deserves its outstanding rating. All frail elderly people should be cared for in this way.

Mum stayed at the Grange for respite care following a traumatic fall. The staff were caring, compassionate and professional making mum's concerns and wellbeing their priority. They treated her with dignity and made her happy and laugh, which I am sure aided her swift recovery. The other residents are
lovely and the place has the feel of a 'family home' not a residential home.

Mom spent two weeks at Burcot for respite whilst we were on holiday. She found all staff extremely helpful and professional and the food, facilities and environment were exemplary. In fact, Mom said she could not find fault with anything and would love to return to live there permanently.

I came to Burcot Grange following a fall and because my daughter was due to go on holiday. I really enjoyed my time here and felt welcomed from the moment I walked into the home. I have been here for a 6 week period and if I ever need respite, I will come back to Burcot Grange.

My husband really enjoys his stays at Burcot Grange Care Home. It is like a holiday in a really, really good hotel. Everyone who has visited him are so impressed with his room and how well he looks - it is a great relief to me to know he is he is being so well looked after and which is a great advantage.

The main reason for my stay at Burcot Grange was to give my wife the chance of taking a break from daily routines at home surrounding my health issues and associated problems. The planned break in June was ideal for both of us when my wife enjoyed her garden touring and I was looked after wonderfully.
I enjoyed socialising with various people as well as the pleasant menu and entertainment backed up by the attentiveness of staff members. I plan to return in October 2018 and thanks to Burcot we can, hopefully, plan for 2019.

An elegant converted manor house in beautiful grounds, which are about to be desecrated by the erection of cottages, shops etc, which will no doubt increase the company's income but not enhance the care of residents.
Our suite was good but not fully equipped, especially the kitchen. The beds were uncomfortable
and the carers were mostly unable to make them up properly, so the sheets were always tucked up.
Most of the carers were competent and efficient but a small number were lacking in a sense of caring for disabled elderly residents.
The exercise classes which we attended were brilliant, while quizzes and bingo were fun.
The administrators seemed to be more involved with the lodge rather than the Grange so we saw little of them.

I am passionate about providing outstanding care for all our residents and creating a luxurious atmosphere in which the team can give their best. I believe Burcot provides a home from home to enable residents to feel comfortable with their surroundings. I love the fact that every day is different, with a new challenge to be met in the most open and professional manner.


I believe that the team and I go the extra mile for the residents and relatives to make them feel part of the ‘Burcot’ family.


I take time to get to know all our residents and for us to share our life experiences with each other. I took time out on my wedding day to pop in, so that the residents could see my dress and share part of my special day.

Job Title: Deputy Manager (Grange)

What I do:
I am here to support the home manager and our team to ensure our residents receive outstanding person-centred care in our beautiful care home, also that our residents feel supported and safe in their new home by the people who are caring for them. I am also here to support our loyal team who on a daily basis endeavour to give the best care they can to the residents who call Burcot Grange home.
I feel that myself and our team always go the extra mile to try and ensure our residents and relatives feel part of the Burcot family.
I feel very lucky to be able to look after residents who have had such life experiences and are willing to share them with myself and the team.


My experience:
I have 25 years’ experience in the care profession and in that time have worked in several places and gained lots of experience from nurses and other health care professionals I have been lucky to work with. I am also a qualified NVQ assessor which enables me to pass on my knowledge to new members of our care team who are looking to forward their career. I have also completed the level 4 in leadership and management programme.


About me:
I live locally to Burcot with my husband and my two dogs who are like my children. In my spare time I have lots of crafting hobbies that I enjoy doing. I am also mad on Disney and regularly enjoy trips to Florida were I can indulge in my passion.

Kiran Chagger-Smith

Job Title: Home Admissions Advisor

What I Do:
The main part of my role within the homes is to meet families who are making enquiries for loved ones. A very sensitive time for most families and friends when choosing the right care home. I take time to understand why we are looking for a care home and to find out about the person, what they are like and their history, where they came from. It’s so interesting to hear about people and what they have gone through in their lives. I also go through managing the assessments with our teams and the paperwork before I hand over to our amazing care team and your new family.
I also work at the marketing for the home, arrange events and network within the local community.


My Experience:
I came into care by accident in 2015, however it’s the best thing that has happened. I love being in care. Although I’m not directly supporting our resident with their care needs, I can do other things like having a coffee and a chat or supporting a resident with a bit of shopping or going for a walk. I also support our families during what can be a difficult time for them.


About Me:
I love living and am always meeting family and friends when I can. They are my everything, I am very grateful for the family I was born into. I love to travel as much as I can and aim for at least 5 holidays a year. The other half and I have just refurbished our first home together which has been a very interesting experience and a learning curve for the next one!!

What I Do:
I see my role as making people smile, laugh and have fun! I fully believe that positive, physical and mental well-being comes from feeling content within yourself and your surroundings. laughter, feeling happy & secure’ is the best medicine there is. I passionately believe that the whole team has the remit of empowering our residents to feel this way & be part of the Burcot family’.
We ensure our residents’ needs are met by carrying out ‘Life History’ assessments, enabling us to fully plan each resident’s individual needs; intellectual, self-esteem, creative, social and spiritual to name a few. From these histories, I can organise and facilitate the many varied activities we have on offer here at Burcot and within our local community, with whom we have close links.


My experience
I started my working life as a WPC in the Metropolitan Police Force before changing career and going into Nursing (Learning Disabilities). This led me, in turn, to complementary therapies within the NHS. I was the first full-time complementary therapist in the country, and I was privileged to work within peoples’ homes, inpatients units, day centres, hospices and, latterly, chemotherapy units to reduce stress and anxiety for patients. I am an honorary member of a National Complementary Therapy association on whose committee I served. This involved setting national standards, writing more policies and organising national conferences. I achieved my long service medal of 20 years within the NHS.


About me
I enjoy travelling adventures with my family & sport too. My son enjoys & plays American Football, my daughter’s hobby revolves around horses & she show jumps (currently she represents her university) & my stepdaughter is a keen trampolinist! We’ve had a few visits to A&E over the years, as you can imagine with hobbies like these! We all ski or snowboard too, when we get the opportunity. My husband & I enjoy weekly Ballroom and Latin dance lessons, walking, socialising with friends and making the most of our National Trust membership. I try & get to the gym three times a week, to I enjoy Yoga & spin classes & try to get to the gym, although I sometimes swap it for a sit down with a book and a latte!

What I do:
I am the home Administrator for both the Grange and the Lodge at Burcot. I provide a dedicated all-round service to the two Homes and supervise the receptionists/administrative team. I am the first point of call for all Finance and HR related queries. My team and I are enthusiastically committed to creating and sustaining good relationships with residents and their relatives alike. We are all here to help.


My experience:
I have been in the admin team, and with Burcot Lodge since it opened in 2017. I have a diverse work history, across both public and private organisations, that has given me great experience and many skills which I bring to my role. In 2019 I won the Cinnamon ‘You make the difference award’ in the Non care category.


About me:
I live in Worcestershire with my husband and two children. We love the outdoors and exploring different parts of Britain and beyond.

Dave Wilkes

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Joined: 2013

My role at Burcot Grange covers a variety of tasks, including Health & Safety, making sure all the equipment and the building requirements are kept up to date with the correct regulations in place. My team and I respond quickly to any problems or queries that arise: no job is too big or too small.


My experience


I have worked at Burcot for five years, I started part-time and was made to feel welcome straight away by the residents and staff. When the position of Head of Maintenance became available, I had no hesitation in applying for the role. Before working at Burcot Grange, I worked for myself fitting kitchens and bathrooms.


About me


I have two grown-up lads and we enjoy going to watch the football together. We all support Liverpool FC and we go to Anfield whenever we manage to get tickets. I also enjoy listening to live music and I try and go to a gig as often as I can. I play Crown Green bowls a few times a week and I am the Captain of the Thursday Evening side.
