Friends of the Elderly Malvern specialises in care for people with dementia and also residential and nursing care. Malvern’s three care homes Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House are set in a picturesque location.

Rooms have en suite facilities overlooking the beautiful gardens with views of the Malvern Hills. Malvern has a number of communal areas where residents can enjoy the company of fellow residents, visiting family and friends, including bright and airy lounges, a sunroom, spacious dining rooms and an extensive library, as well as, a sensory garden. For moments of reflection and tranquillity, there is a galleried chapel.

Malvern’s dedicated and compassionate care team understand that each resident is different. Care planning is personalised and centred on each resident’s individual needs. This, coupled with the informal relaxed environment of the homes makes Malvern home from home for residents, families and friends alike.

The house and grounds are beautiful. My relative's room is quite large and comfortable with lovely views of the common. The staff are kind and attentive and his needs are well met. The team have gone out of their way to provide his room with more home comforts to help him settle in. Overall I am very
impressed with the home and the care provided.

My dad's spent three weeks in Davenham so far and is likely to stay for longer. It's a lovely old house with a beautiful garden and the staff have been excellent - kind, caring and patient without being patronising in any way. Highly recommended!

The whole process of getting mum into a suitable home for respite, used as a transition from hospital back to her home, has been a pleasant experience. From the initial assessment in hospital to the discharge back to mum's home. The whole team have been responsive and shown care and compassion.

As a family, we are immensely grateful for everything the staff at Bradbury Court did for our mum and how they cared for her with such dignity and love. Bradbury Court has given outstanding care to my late stepmum for the last 6 years. She had such a lovely, homely and spacious room with all her own things and beautiful views. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I found it a very relaxed place to be. I was welcome to visit anytime without
needing to make an appointment. My mum felt much loved and enjoyed helping the staff, she was very happy there and I always felt reassured that she was in excellent hands. In my experience with previous care homes, I consider it is far greater in comparison and I highly recommend Bradbury Court.

The care provided to my aunt over the 8 years she was a resident was superb. She had a wonderful room where she was very comfortable. Although she was a very private person she was so happy with the attention shown to her by all the staff. If I need to go into care in the years ahead I won't hesitate
to move into Davenham.

My mum was a resident of Perrins House from December 2021 until she passed in May 2024. In the time she was at Perrins, my mum received excellent care throughout. Mum's room was lovely, overlooking the garden which she enjoyed so much. The staff were always friendly and helpful and kept the environment
clean, tidy and calm. Mum especially liked the wide range of activities on offer, particularly the singers who would regularly come and sing music from her era. Mum also loved the garden club and the staff were very helpful in enabling mum to attend her granddaughter's wedding which was wonderful.

My husband had been in the hospital for three months with delirium following a fall. A nurse accompanied him to Perrnins House, and they made sure his room was redecorated with a new floor. The room also had a wonderful view of the magnificent garden. Lunch is served in a dining room, and he is collected
in a wheelchair. Guests are also welcome to join him for lunch at a small charge. There are excellent activities for residents, every weekday. All the staff, nurses and helpers are first class, have enormous patience and are very loving and fun. I could not recommend it more.

The Davenham and its grounds are beautiful. There are lovely communal rooms and plenty of places to sit and chat. There are many kind staff that our relative has become close to and in whom we have confidence. However, in the few years they have been there, amongst the good things, there have been shortcomings.
The five stars given reflect very much the current situation as a new manager has taken over who is dynamic, approachable and knowledgeable with very high standards. She has quickly identified a number of the issues of concern and already made some very positive and encouraging changes with many more improvements on the horizon. We feel confident that The Davenham and its residents are in safe hands and that the home will go from strength to strength.

Day-to-day care in Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House) - very good - staff clearly felt a lot of sympathy for my sister and were very fond of her. We had no problem with the staff who appeared always to be concerned about her welfare. My last visit revealed an
accessible coffee lounge downstairs hitherto never mentioned. Another space to see our sister away from other people would have been welcome.
A more complex situation was that no POA for our sister's health affairs existed, restricting our entitlement to information about her health situation. Initially told her health problems, this changed as time progressed. No information about her physical health or care plan was forthcoming. (We were told by Social Services that the Care Plan was not up-to-date). This was a change from the beginning of her stay. None of the family were allowed any information.
Finally, another sister demanded information and refused to accept a negative reply based on the absence of a health and welfare POA on purely humanitarian grounds. Too late, as she then entered hospital for the last time.
I have two questions to be addressed - not with a simple answer but informing any similar future situation concerning other patients in your care.
1) I understand that the law with regard to POA needs to be obeyed but in fact, no one outside the care home was being informed about her health care apart from her new GP. How is that acceptable?
2) Why did the approach change during her stay at Bradbury?
I am aware of ongoing management problems but it appears that staff were not given clear guidelines on dealing with families nor walking a line between acknowledgement of family ties and obeying the letter of the law in terms of POAs.

Whenever I go to see my brother the staff are always on hand and take time to chat with every resident. Not only are they there for residents but their caring extends to the families of the resident too. My brother is very settled. Bradbury Court and much loved by all the staff who show endless patience
and understanding to us all whenever we visit. I couldn't wish for my brother to be in a better care home - I would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for getting Bradbury Court back to what it was before covid, one member of the team has done a fantastic job and deserves a medal for getting the staff back happy and motivated after previous staff have departed.
A happy contented workforce reflects throughout the whole building and its now
returned, it got to the stage were I did not look forward to visits or going to the front door, my mother is now much happier as is the environment and staff, with even some staff returning, I know it's been hard with staffing and shortages of staff but those their have raised the bar and are doing a great job. Well Done.

We have removed our mother from Bradbury Court for the following reasons:
Loss of clothing and toiletries.
Poor oral hygiene, resulting in tooth loss, which was not noticed!
Being unable to contact her via both landline and the care home's mobile phone - they were constantly left unanswered.
Defensive,
unprofessional and aggressive attitude of manager - every issue raised was met with hostility and made out to be ours, or our mother's, fault.
There are many other issues. We have complained but have, so far, been left dissatisfied with the final response.

We all know about the difficulties and challenges of the Covid pandemic and the negative press coverage of care homes. My story is different because throughout I had the peace of mind that my mum was cared for in the best way possible. Staff moved into the home went the extra mile to make sure our loved

Due to the pandemic, the past year has been very difficult for staff and residents at Perrins House, and of great concern for families. However, the level of care has been exemplary, which has been of much comfort. Led by a very competent management team, all the staff have remained cheerful and dedicated
to the residents. According to my mother, aged 95, nothing is too much trouble, and they provide companionship and support to everyone there. Importantly, relatives have been kept informed of developments such as visiting arrangements, and the staff went to a great deal of trouble installing both outdoor and indoor screened visiting areas. A new arrangement involving rapid flow tests and an indoor meeting room has recently been added, which is warmly welcomed. There is a great range of activities for the residents and lovely touches such as a seasonal display table and decorations. Mum is genuinely happy at Perrins House, and my brother and I are delighted that she is safe and well.

The care Mum has received since we moved her here when she got 'too much for her previous Care Home, has been second to none. The way they have looked after her, during this dreadful pandemic, has been nothing but remarkable, with staff remaining on-site to protect the residents. We have been kept informed
at all times how and when the visiting could be done, if visiting wasn't possible then Facetime was offered which was so helpful. Although it's taken a year to be able to hold Mum's hand again, not once have I doubted that she was being given the care and support that she needed. All the staff are wonderful, always cheerful and treat Mum with dignity and humour (which she loves). The food is fresh and wholesome, the regular tea and cake is a special favourite of Mum's and all areas are kept spotlessly clean and smelling fresh. I would recommend this Care Home, it's a heartbreaking decision to make but we couldn't have chosen better.

“I started my career working in the Motor Trade arena, in B2B (Business to Business) Customer Sales. My motivation to change careers and focus on care came from my loving Grandparents. My Nan lived with us for many years and was always there when I needed her. As Nan got older, as a family, we had first-hand experience of palliative care, which inspired me to pursue a healthcare career, so I too could ensure quality care for others.


I have now worked in the care industry for 16 years in a variety of roles across the sector. Most recently, I worked in regional operations for a number of large nursing homes.


My passion has always been to create a welcoming and inclusive community where people truly feel a sense of home. This belief directs me every day, and I am so proud to lead a team that holds our residents’ health, well-being and happiness at the heart of all we do.”
