With views of the Malvern Hills, Hastings is in a wonderful location, providing residential, dementia and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

Residents enjoy spacious, beautifully decorated bedrooms, which all have walk in, ensuite wet rooms.

The home has so many spaces to relax in, from a stunning new orangery, to homely lounges and dining rooms, where residents enjoy delicious, home cooking, with freshly baked cakes served with afternoon tea.   

There is also a beautiful large woodland garden, with wheelchair-friendly pathways and mature trees, plus a landscaped garden.

The team are passionate about Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, where they support residents to meet their six senses – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, security, significance and purpose.

There are so many other activities to enjoy, from animal visits and tai chi, to live music, news chats and reminiscence sessions. And with its own hairdressing salon, residents can enjoy appointments with the home’s mobile hairdresser.

The team at Hastings are passionate about keeping their residents connected with the local community. The home hosts weekly community coffee mornings, and you will often see young children and students popping in for a visit.

Family and friends are welcome at any time, and the home has its own private Facebook page, filled with photographs and videos of what the residents have been enjoying. And if relatives fancy a trip out with their loved ones, Hastings close to Great Malvern Priory, independent shops, restaurants and the Malvern Theatres.

My mum stayed here for 3 weeks of 'emergency respite' care that I arranged at the last minute with no prior knowledge as to what the home or staff would be like. All staff involved in her care were caring and professional throughout her stay and gave my family and I the reassurance we needed that she
was safe and being looked after. She left in a far better condition than when she entered. We couldn't be more happy with the care she received; thank you to all.

My mum recently went to Hastings for respite. She was very happy with her stay and would gladly go there again. Her room was very comfy and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the home. Staff were very friendly and answered any question we had.

My friend went into Hastings for two week's respite after a major operation. The management made arrangements speedily. The home is in a delightful convenient location. I only viewed the ground floor but made many visits. There are two delightful cosy lounges, one opening onto a safe, easily accessible
garden. Residents can choose to eat in a very comfortable small dining room or in their room. Rooms are comfy and spacious with all the facilities required, although could do with updating. The staff make the place feel like home and the residents feel at home. They are all cheerful, friendly, efficient and obliging. The food is good, nourishing and varied. It is the best care home I have ever visited.

My mother spent what was to be her final weeks in Hastings but while there she became more aware and engaged more. The staff were kind in every way to Mom and also to her visitors. Sadly age and infirmity took their toll and my mother passed, but she was treated at all times with dignity and compassion,
as was I. The premises were always bright, clean and welcoming. Staff always available to help all the way from reception, through care staff to Managers.

After visiting 8 care homes the two that were run by Sanctuary Care stood out in a different league from the rest in every way. Immediately sensed a positive attitude and felt that mum would be treated as a welcome hotel guest! The admin staff at the Hastings Residential Care Home moved heaven and earth
to ensure that the transformation from hospital to residency went ahead as planned and really went the "extra mile" for us. Mum passed away unexpectedly soon so her stay was only one month, but it was a happy time and a great relief to see how well she settled.

The representatives of Hastings Residential Care Home were generally exceptionally caring and competent with the sole exception of one instance of a surprising failing to be unaware that washing leather shoes in a washing machine was inappropriate. This was clearly an amazing lapse that carrying out
such a procedure could only result in damaging leather fabric irreversibly. Consequently, I have a need to replace my damaged footwear ie shoes which were put on a hot wash cycle of a washing machine.

My mum went into Hastings for a temporary stay. At first, she was very anxious and nervous but as time went on, she became more settled, joining in a lot of the activities and making new friends.
When I came time to leave, she confessed to being a little upset at having to leave.
All this was down
to the lovely, caring staff who made my mum's stay such a pleasant experience. Thank you.

From the initial visit to the final visit, the standard of care has been excellent. Whenever I have visited, the staff are pleasant and obviously do their best to ensure the residents are treated with respect and dignity.
They have displayed kindness and a willingness to 'go the extra mile' when required.

Mother was cared for with love, respect and kindness. She settled easily because all of the staff showed consideration, compassion and helped her to maintain her dignity at all times. Her room was beautifully appointed light and airy with a very peaceful atmosphere. Hastings Residential Care Home is
a modern, purpose built building with excellent facilities. The food was appetising, nourishing and she enjoyed the meals but when she was unwell staff made sure she had anything she wanted in her room.


The social activities covered a wide range of tastes and there was something there everyone, most weeks.
Trips out, classical music, Bingo, exercise classes, wine and cheese evenings etc.


I can not fault Hastings Care Home.

My mother has settled well after an extended period in hospital. Although she'd rather be at home, the staff treat her with kindness and understanding; the management and senior care assistants have been particularly supportive. Sometimes the noise, (especially the TV which remains on regardless of
any watching it), occasionally over-familiarity can be difficult for my mother to cope with. Occasionally staff can seem to be slow in responding to her call button but it is a happy home with staff who form an excellent team.

My mother has been a resident for a couple of months. Staff who helped her to settle have been kind and unobtrusive. When we have had queries or concerns, these have been handled with professionalism and attentiveness. Mum feels at home, safe and secure and we find this reassuring. Staff are approachable.
The residence is clean and well cared for.

I go and see my friend at least once a week. I'm always met with a cheery hello. Security is tight, cleanliness excellent. On the way through the corridor staff always speak.
Found my friend is sweet clean room. He was clean. Tea came round and I was offered and cup. How nice.

My Dad was at this home for a week or so, after we had heard good reviews. However, in my opinion, it is not good. My father had two falls in their care he was left alone to wander around corridors on his own. The emergency bell that he was supposed to press if he needed a carer was very poor, I witnessed
the bell being pushed yet no carer arrived I had to go and get a carer. They seem to talk a good talk yet from what I witnessed, they do not deliver on what they say they will do. I would not recommend this Care Home.

On behalf of my family, I wish to express our unreserved gratitude to the staff and management at Hastings Care Home for the care and love shown to my father in the last months of his life, between October 2018 and March 2018. Hastings is an outstanding home, beautifully located and well designed and
presented for the needs of residents in their later life. The resident's rooms and communal areas were at all times fresh and clean. There are not enough words to express the care provided for my father and later my family. Exceptional!

Daytime/evening staff are excellent; caring, supportive and extremely professional. Night staff have less time for those who are awake/alert during the night. Food is generally good and healthy. On occasion, the menu could be less "exotic" and more suitable to older folk. Spicy food can be unattractive
to the elderly and perhaps stews, casseroles, meat and veg would be more favoured by residents. Kitchen staff are excellent and will try to accommodate specific diets. The activities team do an excellent job. With diverse clients, it is hard to appeal to all. Some activities can be a little tedious for those with active minds. My parent particularly enjoys it when performers etc from outside come in and bingo is always popular. The rear garden is pleasant but could be more accessible/safe for those with limited mobility. The front garden seems to have been neglected recently. This is a shame.


In summary, the standard of care offered by Hastings is very good - the facilities could be better - the staff are excellent and are to be congratulated.

In my role as the home manager, I really enjoy interacting with the residents and getting to know each resident on an individual basis, so their care is so person-centred.
