With a long-serving team, who embrace the loved ones of residents into life at the home, Heathlands has a warm, family feel.

The team have just launched their new Allard Respite Suite. This beautiful suite has eight bedrooms for respite care breaks, which unlike anywhere else locally, can be pre-booked up to six months in advance. The bedrooms have ensuite wet rooms, there is a lounge and dining area to enjoy activities and delicious home-cooking, and a private garden. So, if you are caring for a relative and need to book some time for yourself, the team are there to provide your loved one with care and companionship.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives Framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security. They are passionate about residents having an active role to play in the running of the home. The resident ambassadors love providing feedback to the team, and even help to interview potential staff.

There is always something going on at Heathlands – from animal therapy, visits from local nursery and school children, art and crafts and live music, to trips out into the community. There is also a hair salon for weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser, who has been coming to the home for years.

And Heathlands is very much part of the local community – hosting a monthly carers’ afternoon tea (last Monday of each month from 2pm to 4pm). There are also regular visits from work experience students and other volunteers.

The home’s gardens are a lovely spot to relax with family and friends, who are welcome at any time, and have a summer house and wheelchair friendly pathways.

The bedrooms are spacious, with ensuite wet rooms. There are cosy, welcoming lounges and residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals in the dining rooms, as well as freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

I've only been here a few months, but I've signed a contract to stay for the rest of my days. Hand on heart, I've never met a nicer bunch of people in all my life. Each and every one in Heathlands Residential Care Home are friendly, caring and very professional in what they do. Anyone thinking of coming
here, stop thinking about it, just do it! It will be the best choice you will ever make.

From the day my son and I came to discuss the possibility of my having two weeks stay while my live-in carer had her leave I was impressed by the air of warmth and welcome. All the staff are caring and helpful and they assist whenever I need them in washing and dressing. They encourage me to walk with
my zimmer whenever possible. Knowing my ability to walk is very difficult but must be encouraged. Should I need respite again I very much hope that will be possible here in Heathlands Residential Care Home. I apologise to my writing.

I was apprehensive about Dad going in to a home after our experience with my mum and dad would be moving from Birmingham to Pershore. I needn't have been he is very well cared for 24 hours a day, his room is lovely, food is lovely too and staff are super caring, professional and friendly. Thank you

The support my mum and my family receive is fantastic.
I am always being asked how I am and listened to if needed. Any situations that occur with mum are acted on and discussed, always looking for a solution and being pro-active.
Recently a support group has been set up again following covid restrictions.
It really helped to talk and be listened to by people who understand. Advice given and any additional help to be looked into.

How I feel, like a weight lifted from my shoulders knowing mum is safe and cared for.
Mum had pneumonia and was taken to hospital, after two weeks the specialist told me she was bed bound and would need a nursing home. Within two days of being back at Heathlands the carers had her up and walking around
with the aid of a walker.
Your team did that! Thank you.

Dad has been here for 3 months and settled in straight away. He is very happy and content. We are very impressed with every aspect.
Staff go out of their way to help the residents. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. A strong ethos of care pervades from the very top downwards. A safety concern was
dealt with immediately. We always feel welcome and are impressed that there are activities and things of interest for the residents to do. We cannot praise the staff highly enough - and their platinum jubilee celebrations were a triumph.

My mother-in-law, now in her nineties, has lived at Heathlands for two and a half years. Prior to that she lived alone, at some distance from her family, and had become increasingly isolated and vulnerable. Her move has meant that she is now very happy, much safer and fully supported. She often describes
herself as very lucky and very fortunate to be a resident at Heathlands. Throughout the Covid pandemic we have been aware of how hard staff have worked, often under very difficult circumstances, yet still managing to stay cheerful and positive. Even in the face of rapidly changing pressures and regulations, they have made every effort to treat her, and us, with sensitivity and empathy. We would like to thank everyone at Heathlands for being so kind, thoughtful and professional. It really is appreciated by both my mother-in-law and her family.

All staff are supportive to the family. Communication is excellent and we are kept informed about Dad's care and condition.

First of all, I must say a big thank you to all staff at the care home for everything, the care they have given in keeping my mum safe in these difficult times has not been easy for any of them, and I am so grateful to them all. As things lifted on visiting, I was able to see her a couple of weeks ago,
and she looks so well. It is not easy to fill in as I haven't been to her room for 12-months, but I do phone every week. If there is any problem or the staff need to let me know anything, they phone me or send me information by post.

My husband has been a resident for just over 12-months. In that time, his care has been excellent. Staff are supportive to me as well as him, and any contact is polite and helpful. Mum is happy where she is and has been for the past 3 years. The home is clean, bright and always smells fresh. The carers are attentive, patient and kind. Whenever I speak to mum she tells me she is comfortable and content where she is and well cared for.

My Dad has dementia and has been in the care of Heathlands since November 2019 as a resident. The staff are all so kind, and I can be assured of the best care for Dad. During the covid pandemic, I have been assured of their practices to keep out the virus.

Mum, who is in her 90's and unwilling to do simple matters for herself, can be challenging and tends to be reluctant to make requests to the staff about a number of matters whilst being very vocal about others.
The staff are kind and interact well with Mum but it is disappointing to find that they
have not observed or taken action to ensure that her personal appearance, including that her fingernails are cut and cleaned regularly, is as good as it could be.
Mum chooses to remain in bed and it is disappointing to observe that her chair and bathroom have become places to store care equipment creating a poor impression for Mum and visitors.
Sadly the furniture and floor are routinely dirty when I visit.

I visit my mum once or twice weekly, not any particular day and always find her happy and contented. She knows my fave and this is so with other visitors also although she struggles with names. Despite this, myself and my family (sisters) chat with each other about mum and feel very positive with everything.
Mum has lived here for over a year now and has improved immensely both mentally and physically, she has put on much-needed weight and does not worry like before. Many thanks to Heathlands.
