The Leys welcomes older residents with physical and mental health needs but not requiring nursing care. At the heart of The Leys' person-centred approach is a simple philosophy endorsed by all of the staff: to provide care the way that they would wish for their own relatives.

The Leys aims to provide care in an environment that looks and feels like a home away from home. They believe this is why most of their residents come to them through the personal recommendations of people who know the home.

Detailed care plans are developed in a fully transparent manner and updated regularly to ensure that the best and most appropriate care is provided for each individual. They welcome the input of family and friends of individuals in their care and welcome visitors at any time.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care my mother-in-law receives at The Leys residential home. She has been there nearly 3 years and from the management down through all members of the staff, I cannot fault them. This year has been particularly difficult for us all not being able to have much contact,
mainly through Facetime. The home is always clean and has proper home-cooked food. I would highly recommend this home to anyone thinking of putting their relative here. We have total confidence as a family. Thank you girls.

I was extremely impressed with The Leys cottage in all aspects. So was my dear old mum. Attention to care and her individual needs far exceeded my expectations. They cared for mum as if she was in her own home and never patronised her in any way. They took the time to show interest in mum as an individual
and chatted to her about her past life. Mum always said she couldn't be in better hands! The home had a cosy homely feel to it. Also was always saying how lovely the food was. I can vouch for that as well as when mum was very poorly they gave me lunch as I stayed with her. Best ham, egg and chips l have ever had! The staff were so friendly and kind to me when mum passed away. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you one and all.

My aunt who is nearly 102, has been at The Leys for seven years. She has been very well looked after and is very happy there. I think the staff are wonderful and always do their very best for her.

My mother is well cared for, clean and in clean clothes, sometimes not her own clothes! She is happy and content, although she is sometimes very vague and distant caused by her dementia. When I leave her, after a visit, I am happy to know that she is in good care and looked after well.

I visited my mother-in-law today and as she was due to see a doctor, I stayed with her until the doctor arrived. My mother-in-law is 99 years old, registered blind, has very poor hearing and has dementia. She also does not like doctors carrying out any tests and can be quite aggressive in this type
of situation.
Today I saw how a member of staff held her hand and explained what test the doctor wanted to carry out. The staff member supported her and showed great patience, compassion and encouragement whilst also allowing my mother-in-law to decide whether or not the test could be completed.
The way the member of staff dealt with this difficult situation brought tears to my eyes. Thanks to her the test was undertaken.
I have always had great respect for the staff and the care they have provided for my mother-in-law over the last five and a half years but they continue to amaze me with their level of skills.

The Leys home staff are brilliant. I could not wish to put my mom in a better home. It has been hard for mom to adapt from her own home but the staff have been brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them and they are very kind to my mom.

Mum has been a resident at The Leys for 1 year this week - following on from a very difficult period. We were delighted to find The Leys and for Mum to move into a safe, caring, positive, 24/7 care home.
Mum is well cared for, settled and happy, stimulated with daily activities - she is never lonely.
When Mum was taken in last year, 2018, the care home responded quickly to get the treatment she needed. It is nice to be able to rely on The Leys to meet all Mum's needs, care and wellbeing. Most important, Mum is happy at The Leys.

I have found all the staff friendly, helpful, caring, respectful to residents and their family alike. They don't hesitate to offer help whenever possible. My dad loves the food and says he has plenty to eat. Staff gave him bird books and binoculars as soon as they found out that was one of his hobbies.
They allowed us to use the dining room to have an impromptu care meeting. They help residents eat/drink and don't rush them. It's also a clean and fresh smelling home and welcoming.

My husband has been cared for by the staff at The Leys for 20 months and I am more than satisfied with the situation which has been forced upon me. He is very well provided for - particularly the catering requirements - good, well cooked, homely food - the chef and cover staff are excellent. He is warm,
clean, entertained, despite his memory failure telling me he does nothing!! All members of staff know me by name and are very welcoming. I am so grateful to be able to let them look after my husband.

The Leys are doing a great job of caring for my mother. Her memory loss is getting worse so it must be so difficult to be patient, open and friendly. We are really grateful to them for keeping her safe and comfortable, which is reducing our own worries and concerns.

I live in the US, my mother spent two wonderful years at The Leys. Whenever I would visit I was welcomed in with a smile the staff were always pleasant no matter what time it was. The home was always clean, the meals were excellent the table was always set with placemats that were like I would have
set my own table. My mother was very happy at The Leys, it was her home away from home. I was always informed of any issues and I was able to phone her from the US. I could not have asked for better care in mum’ s last days, a carer would sit with her, music was played for her. Even when she stopped communicating someone was always talking to her. I have a special place in my heart for one special lady, I always knew mum was being well cared for and that meant a great deal to our family because we were so far away. I would highly recommend The Leys to any family who is in need of a Care home, the staff are what I called my Guardian Angels they are very special people , God Bless them all.

Mum is looking, sounding and acting brilliantly. I can't believe the change in her since she returned to you. She

is more engaged and looks content, safe, well and happy. She looks like Mum again!


Thanks also to you and your staff whenever I call. Everyone is so open and friendly with me. It's like calling home. They always take the extra time to get mums iPad and to make sure she is established using it, and they usually have a cheery wave and kind word for me too.


I am a long way away and experience far less stress now as a result of all your kind care, and integration of mum into your community.

The Leys is one of the very few homes where all the staff really care for the residents. More than two years since I first met the team, the strength and consistency of their welcome makes it a joy either to visit mum or to return her home where she is, in her own words, very very happy. Mum knows just
how much she is valued within the family and nothing is too much trouble to ensure she gets the most from each and every day with all the staff caring for mum as they would their own parents. It's the attention to detail, ensuring mum is never far away from a special friend, whether in the dining room (recently decorated and beautifully furnished as an old-fashioned tea room), joining in with the activities each and every day or in her beloved conservatory where she can enjoy the extensive garden with all the wildlife. If you want somewhere very special for your loved one, look no further!

I have visited The Leys regularly over the last two years as a friend of a resident. I have always found the staff to be very welcoming, courteous and friendly. The atmosphere at the Leys is one of a large family where all the residents are treated with love respect dignity and great care. The location
and physical building give The Leys a feel of a homely environment, not at all institutional. It is well managed and safe and secure.
My friend who is a resident there refers to The Leys as "home" not "a home" which shows how comfortable and happy she is there. Having experienced two other care homes in the local area there is simply no comparison in the standard of care with the Leys.
The wonderful staff care for the residents with a very personal touch and great humour. Their physical health is well looked after though there could be more activities.


Having an elderly mother myself, should she need to go into care I wouldn't hesitate to have the ladies at The Leys look after her.

There is always a welcome when we visit mom as soon as the door is opened. You are free to wonder around the home so nothing is hidden. If there is a problem, there is no difficulty in mentioning it. Cleanliness is good and the variety of food is excellent. Although the building is old and could benefit
from some modernisation, the loving and caring atmosphere is excellent. The grounds are lovely and green and the bird feeders and visiting deer keep the residents entertained. As with most care homes, there seems to be too much sitting with the TV on but in the last few months, things seem to be being put into place to address this. Mom couldn't be happier.

I have been visiting The Leys for at least 15 years as a friend and visitor to residents. It is one of the nicest homes in the area because it is small and therefore the residents have their individual caring care that large homes do not have. The residents always look clean and tidy and the aim for
the staff is to treat residents as how their parents would like to be treated. Also, the manager and assistant manageress have been there for many years, before I started going.

Since my father-in-law came down from Scotland we have been very pleased with the service given from your home. His room is adequate, he enjoys the food and the staff are very nice. When we let them know we are taking him out he is always ready to go and taking him back at night is no problem. The
garden is very nice and I am pleased he now sits out there. As his dementia get worse I am confident he will still have a nice life at The Leys.
