I am sure like all families there is a level of apprehension when you make that difficult decision on choosing a care home for loved ones. Over the past five years The Priory have cared for a number of my and my wife’s family, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. They are a truly dedicated
team where residents and families are treated as part of the extended family. Over the years nothing has been too much trouble, the staff have been amazing, dedicated and compassionate and caring in their roles and focused on the wellbeing of the residents and I personally cannot thank them enough.

The manageress and her team at The Priory looked after my mother for over 3 years until she sadly passed away at the end of March. Why is The Priory special? Because all the staff are dedicated to what they do and creating a happy atmosphere, something which is missing from a lot of care homes that
I have visited. The rooms are super, the care good and the food fresh and good. The team are considerate. They always celebrate any occasion in style, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day and Birthdays etc. with lots of lovely decorations, again adding to a happy environment. I have no hesitation in recommending The Priory.

The Priory have looked after my great aunt, who has learning difficulties, for the last 12 years. She has been at her happiest for this time, the staff have been so patient with her and have always helped her be independent. I can't praise them enough for creating an environment where she feels safe,
happy and at home. My aunt has always enjoyed the food, is regularly offered trips to attend and activities to join in with, alongside having a beautiful, clean room to be in. I am also very thankful for this home as they have provided a lovely Covid safe environment for me to visit my aunt throughout and this has helped tremendously with her mental health.

Over the last 2 years, I have visited my friend to find her very comfortable and content with her new home. The staff are friendly and welcome visitors. The environment appears tranquil and caring of its residents. At Christmas, it was particularly attractive. I'm always very impressed by this care
home and those that run it.

This care home ticks all the boxes as far as I'm concerned. I usually visit once or twice a week and I always find a well organised, hard working staff ethic.
Extremely helpful, excellent communication skills in what is a challenging environment. It would be fair to say that my life has changed with
the knowledge that mom is safe, sound, well fed and treated with dignity with the bonus of trips out by the home on a weekly basis.

From my observation, the care demonstrated to date has been exceptional. The care team, whilst extremely professional, demonstrate an empathetic and a genuine caring approach. They are proactive in meeting the residents' needs and I have observed them acting swiftly when an urgent situation arises.
It is very reassuring to feel my mother is in the hands of such a capable and competent team.

Very pleased overall with The Priory. Mum has been a resident there since June 2015 and the level of care, including the home and the carers is excellent.
"Food is very good and plenty of it" is a regular statement/comment made by my mum.
One thing she mentions often is that there are not enough activities.

My mother has settled in well to the Priory and likes her room as it looks over the golf course and has a balcony. Mum says the staff are friendly and the food is good. (My mother is independent to get around and about).

From a relative's point of view, I would like to see more activities taking

place but this probably can only be achieved if there were more staff or a designated activities co-ordinator).

Reply from Daniel Johnson, Director at The Priory Care Home

Our activities programme is wide and varied. Our in-house activities include fitness sessions such as Tai Chi and physiotherapy to music, singers, animal antics with various exotic creatures brought in for the residents to pet and hold. Puppet shows, Amateur Dramatics, Pantomimes, therapy dogs, summer fete, fireworks display, Valentines, Easter, Halloween and Christmas Parties and various daily crafts and games. Our External activities include weekly trips out in our minibus to pubs, shops, the safari park, the garden centre and canal boat trips.

We will keep the residents and relatives informed of all activities by displaying a Monthly Calendar in the main corridor.

Since I came to The Priory Care Home about 3 months ago, I found it to be an excellent home where one lives, not just a place to stay. The staff work hard and the individual residents have plenty of choice on how to live their lives according to their abilities. There is not pressure put on anyone to
take up occupation. They do not want exercise, singing etc. They have access to their own rooms or to communal rooms as they wish any time of the day. It is a good place to be.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.167)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.167) out of 10 for The Priory Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Priory Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.167 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Priory Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.167

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
