With a long-serving team of devoted staff, many of whom have been at Ravenhurst for over 15 years, it truly feels like a warm, family home.

As well as providing residential and dementia care, they offer respite care breaks, which can be pre-booked in advance. These are perfect for carers who look after loved ones at home, who would like to book a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

Ravenhurst has a fully enclosed, central courtyard garden, bursting with flowers and plants. Many of the bedrooms have direct patio access to the courtyard, which is a real focal point for summer gatherings. There is a raised pond and planters, for residents who enjoy gardening.

The team are what makes this home feel special, and they follow Sanctuary Care’s unique Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to be fulfilled and happy – a sense of security, belonging, continuity, purpose, achievement and significance.

There are so many activities for residents to enjoy, including regular trips out in the minibus to garden centres, Hereford Cathedral and other local attractions. Residents often visit Sanctuary Care’s Westmead home in Droitwich, as part of a friendship group, and vice versa. The residents love getting together to enjoy games and companionship.

Ravenhurst has its own choir and history group, run by one of the residents. And there are crafts, cocktails, cheese and wine evenings, gardening, games, reminiscence activities, gentle exercise sessions and so much more to enjoy.

The home-cooked food, prepared by a chef who has worked at the home for 20 years, is delicious. From roast dinners with all the trimmings and fish and chip Fridays, to home baking every day for afternoon tea.

As well as the main lounge, there are lots of cosy and welcoming quiet spaces for residents to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit whenever they like.

My mum suffers from dementia and has been a resident since December 2016. She has really settled in and all the staff have taken great care of her. She is really comfortable here and long may that continue.

I visit once a month to take Communion and a member of our chaplaincy team visit regularly. Despite busy routines, the Activities Coordinator is prepared, welcoming, helpful and with the services advertised. We are signposted to those in need. The staff come across as caring and thoughtful to the residents
and are learning not to be unnecessarily obtrusive. The atmosphere is light and airy and we see advertised many activities for residents. The only adverse comment is the regret about the closure of the Day Centre, which was an excellent local resource - maximising profit seems to have come before service to the community in Sanctuary's strategic thinking. You have some excellent staff.

A friend I looked after for 17 years came into Ravenhurst Residential Care Home due to being lazy and stuck in his ways. Not washing, eating etc. He is now eating well and cleaning and may be able to return home.

Residents are treated with dignity and are supported in doing activities. All residents appear clean and are well looked after. Mum has told me herself she is well looked after telling me one day to go home after a visit, that she was in good hands. Also early one morning she became very ill. Staff
phoned me to come in and were very supportive to me at this time. Thankfully mum came round and is in good health again. Also, I have peace of mind knowing mum is in good hands.

My mother has been residing at Ravenhurst for nearly 6 years - over that period I have found all members of staff very caring and professional at all times. They all take good care of my mum and I am really pleased with all areas of care.

When you walk into this care home you are hit by the nice atmosphere and the pleasant, helpful reception staff contribute to this. The carers too are always pleasant and it's nice to hear the kind way in which the residents are treated by them.
The other day I overheard one of the cleaning staff chatting
to a resident. It's very noticeable here that all the staff, from the kitchen, laundry, maintenance, cleaners to the manager care for the well-being of the people residing here. It is very reassuring for those of us leaving our loved ones knowing they are having the best care possible.

My brother stayed for 2 weeks respite care at Ravenhurst in November 2014 the care he received from all concerned was second to none, it was the first time he has been away from home.
From July 2014 to March 2015 he attended the day centre Ravenhurst until it closed, which was such a shame because
it provided terrific care, those girls were wonderful. I am writing this for my brother as he suffers from Parkinson's.

My mother has been in Ravenhurst for 9 months approx. She is frail and vulnerable. She has the highest confidence and trust in the quality of care she is receiving, in particular she says often that the staff are very kind and thoughtful.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.604)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.604) out of 10 for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.804 for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.804

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ravenhurst Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m excited to have joined Ravenhurst as the Manager. Before coming here, I managed another home within our company, so I’m already familiar with our commitment to quality care and enriching lives.

I’ve been in the care sector for over 11 years, moving up from a Social Care Officer to Deputy Manager, and eventually into Home Management.

I’m passionate about creating an environment where our residents can enjoy every day to the fullest. Here at Ravenhurst, we’re not just focused on providing quality care; we’re all about making life fulfilling, joyful, and meaningful.

We take the time to understand each resident’s story, the people closest to them, and what truly makes them happy. For us, that’s where the journey begins ensuring every resident feels seen, supported, and celebrated every day.
