Located in the picturesque town of Malvern, Wishmoor is a large Victorian house situated in a delightful tree lined road. The home is within close proximity of Barnard’s Green shops, Great Malvern railway station and the Winter Gardens.

The Wishmoor team is particularly concerned that each person is recognised as an individual with whom care arrangements are discussed, planned and regularly reviewed.

This approach makes Wishmoor very special. Not too large, Wishmoor can recreate an intimate, family home feel while still providing the kind of 24 hour care expected.

Single bedrooms (some en-suite) provide spacious and comfortable accommodation in a homely environment and residents are encouraged to bring small personal items from home to make them feel more comfortable. There are a number of shared rooms ideal for couples.

There are two large living rooms where residents can sit and read, watch television or take part in activities and a large dining room where delicious, home-cooked meals are served. The menus are changed regularly and use fresh seasonal produce. Residents are encouraged to help plan the menu at the home's monthly Residents’ Meetings. All dietary requirements can be catered for.

My Mum who has Alzheimer's has been a resident at Wishmoor for 6 months now. I have been extremely reassured by the high level of care Mum receives and the abundance of activities and day trips she has been involved in. I feel a close connection to many staff members who welcome us wholeheartedly when
we visit. I am kept informed and up to date with Mum's progress with emails, and following the Wishmoor social media page which shows photos of Mum involved in various activities and outings. I visit regularly and the atmosphere is relaxed, homely and colourful. The conservatory and gardens are a real bonus. The food is also very good which Mum enjoys and thrives on. The home is kept clean, bright and airy, I have absolutely no concerns about Mum's care at Wishmoor everything is run in a professional manner with an authentic charm that is hard to find these days.

Cannot thank Wishmoor enough for their kindness and care with my Mum. The home has a homely welcoming environment. You can tell the genuine care and love from the staff in what they do which is hard to come by now.
There are always activities or something going on with the residents they do go above
and beyond. I feel comfortable when leaving a visit knowing that Mum is looked after and cared for.
Mum is in an unusual situation as she is one of the younger residents but the staff makes sure she is treated as an individual and her care is completely person-centred. Mum is looking to do swimming and other activities she enjoys all organised from the home. Also helping mum see her husband weekly by going in the taxi with her.
All of Mum's family are extremely grateful to Wishmoor staff for the love they have shown in a very difficult time it's made such a difference. And hasn't gone unseen from us, thank you.

Since my sister was moved to Wishmoor in September 2023 we have had no concerns or worries about her care. The whole Wishmoor team provide an exceptional level of care and we are always made welcome when we visit. We are kept well informed by the staff who are always very helpful.

I couldn't be happier with the care my dad is receiving since he moved in at the end of last year. He is clearly well cared for. The staff are all amazing including the kitchen and cleaning staff and have all made a point of making us as family members feel welcome.
They have made an effort to get
to know his likes and dislikes and he is regularly involved in activities he enjoys.
The staff team are quick to manage any medical needs and keeps in touch with us.
I feel able to relax confident in the care he is receiving from the amazing team at Wishmoor.

Dad has dementia and was admitted to Wishmoor for an initial assessment, it was an easy decision for my brother and me when selecting a care home for dad. The whole team there have been exceptional and the level of care has been outstanding. Unfortunately, dad does not make a huge effort to integrate
himself into the activities or even join the other residents at meal times. However, the staff always make sure dad has the same level of care in his room and he always has his cup of tea.

My mum moved in to Wishmoor in May 2022. I cannot speak highly enough of the care she receives at the home. The staff are kind, friendly and always very approachable. Mum always looks smart and tells me the food is great and how much she enjoys living in the home. The home provides regular outings and
lots of in-house activities to keep Mum stimulated and occupied. I cannot recommend Wishmoor highly enough.

The staff at Wishmoor show so much care and love to our much-loved dad. They have become his second family and he is very happy and contented there.
He especially loves one member of staff and feels very safe with her and we couldn’t ask for more.

Dad settled into life at Wishmoor very quickly which was down to the care and dedication of the staff.
Most of the time that he’s been living at Wishmoor has been under pandemic regulations and the staff there have gone way beyond expectations to make sure that we could keep regular contact with him.
When
we visit he’s always in good spirits and is very happy with the care that he receives.
If you had to pin him down to one thing he likes about Wishmoor it would definitely be the meals.

My relative came to Wishmoor in the time of Covid. Very unfamiliar territory to me and to her. From my very first visit she looked clean and pink and well put together in her own clean clothes. She looked smart like she used to “ in the old days” before dementia claimed her. She spoke genuinely of the
friendliness of the staff caring for her and the “ high standards “ kept there. Wishmoor wanted to find out all about her past life, character, interests, everything that is important to her. I found out about activities and the life of the home that they have created for their family there. I am wholeheartedly reassured of a better life for my aunt here, better than we ever thought. The staff I have met or communicated with over the phone, video, or email are always welcoming and kind and helpful to me with my thoughts and questions and I know for sure that they give quality care and kindness to my aunt too. I am thankful for all of them and the dedicated and unsung work that they do.

My dad has been a resident at Wishmoor for over 3 years and although we have always been happy with the care he receives, it has improved still further in the last 18 months.
Dad has advanced dementia and is sometimes difficult to manage but he is always treated with respect and dignity. The management
and carers have got to know him well and it sounds as though he is one of the family and much loved. What has particularly impressed us recently is the focus on Personal Centred Care. Time and effort is spent on discovering a resident's past: things and people they loved; the career they followed; favourite music; pastimes and so on. This knowledge helps residents who have very little memory and understanding, connect with their past, find joy in the familiarity and engage in more meaningful activities. Efforts are also being made to meet Dad's spiritual needs. His Christian faith was hugely important and we hope it will be possible for him to receive comfort in an appropriate way.

So pleased with the standard of care Wishmoor are giving my parents with the homely atmosphere they really give attention to detail by finding out as much as they can about them to tailor-make their package of care. My parents went into Wishmoor just before lockdown in March. The carers send photos
and videos of their activities and it is lovely to be able to see them having some quality of life in this very difficult time keeping me in touch as I am unable to visit them, I can't praise the carers enough they really care.

I recently visited my father for a 'garden visit'. As always I was very impressed with the standard of care my dad is receiving. All ok. The staff are friendly and helpful and very attentive. I was so glad that my dad had been given a task to do at the home had raised his spirits and given him a positive
focus. This had made a real difference. Thank you.

My mother moved into Wishmoor 6 weeks ago - transition from hospital. Manager brilliant, supporting family and allowing us to prepare her room. Mum initially difficulty - staff and management very patient, understanding to help her settle - now starting to feel like home. Amazing support from all involved.
Fab atmosphere - great we can visit anytime. Always a clean, happy place when we call in. Meeting mums needs effectively and holistic approach has been brilliant. A massive weight off my shoulders. Thank you.

My 98 year old mother spent just over 2 weeks at Wishmoor for respite care whilst we were away on holiday. She settled surprisingly well and found all the staff helpful and kind. She could not speak highly enough about them. Her room was small but light, airy and freshly decorated with a view of the
hills. It was obvious she felt safe and cared for. Visitors were welcomed and have since commented on the 'homely atmosphere' at Wishmoor. My mother (who is particular!) was in good spirits and seemed well when we collected her which was a fine testament to the excellent care she'd received.

Although she was encouraged to join in activities and eat with other residents, she chose to stay in her room and was happy with this. I can't, therefore, comment on activities.

The management were informative and helpful and welcomed her warmly on arrival.

This care home is ideal, I know this because I spent 3 weeks respite before my husband joined me. He is now a permanent resident and is happy and well looked after. The staff are so caring to the resident and those who visit.

My mother came to Wishmoor a year and a half ago and she has been very happy here. The staff are very friendly and caring in a homely environment - not an institution. The home is quite small and an old Victorian house and has the feel of a home. I would highly recommend Wishmoor.

I am receiving respite care and have been here for 2 months now. I am perfectly happy with the way I have been looked after. Any problems I have I am able to discuss with the management and these have been addressed properly. Whenever I have asked for something, such as arranging hospital transport,
repeat medical prescriptions or more/extra food I would like, this has been sorted out quickly. I have come to know some of the staff quite well and usually feel they will listen and help me as much as possible.

My elderly mother has been living at Wishmoor now for a few months. She is happy there and the friendly staff look after her with great care and attention. Her room with its small en-suite (toilet and wash basin), is warm and cheerful and contains some of her own things. She has lovely garden views
of the Malvern Hills. Staff pop in regularly to check if she is okay and also bring her meals and tea and coffee. There are regular activities which she can enjoy if she wishes. I am more than pleased with the care she receives at Wishmoor.

The carers are ok/good. Some better than others! Food is pretty poor and could be massively improved including the cakes made as they are small and quite hard! The home itself is a little run down, could do with a little more improvement! Management doesn’t appear too interested and after talking to
staff they aren’t too happy either! More age appropriate activities could be better, would be nice to see more staff be more talkative to the service users! Cleaning could be improved!

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.006)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.006) out of 10 for Wishmoor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.917 for Wishmoor is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.089 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wishmoor is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
