What makes this home special are the dedicated people who work here. They are fantastic, I can't praise them highly enough. This is my dad's home and this team of people have become part of our family. It's not only the carers it's also the housekeeping, catering and maintenance staff that make this
home what it is, a safe and welcoming place to be.

My mom went into this care home in July. In the first few weeks, she kept wanting to come home with me when I visited her, but the staff were really good with her and eventually she settled in. She has a lovely room with views over the fields. The staff are very nice and always keep me updated on anything
that concerns my mom. Another thing I'm impressed with is the home is always very clean and tidy.

There are not enough words to say how glad I am that my sister is in the excellent care of the Manager and her team at Ditton Priors. My sister is treated with the utmost care while retaining her dignity and is happy to be there she has her own room and has no wish to be anywhere else but at Ditton.
I phone her every day and have a good relationship with the staff.

Since her admission in June 2022, my wife has received excellent care in most respects and has accepted her residency as a normal life from the start. My only criticism is the size of her room which does not seem to match the standard set in the online brochure. I find the home management and nursing
care to be of a very high standard in all respects.

In April 2023 mum, who has dementia, was initially given a temporary two-week respite place at Ditton. I was apprehensive about this, as until then I had been her full-time carer and didn’t know how well she would settle there. For a couple of weeks, she was restless, but with the wonderful and totally
dedicated care team at Ditton, she did eventually settle. Visitors are always greeted warmly, offered a drink and often cake too! Every time I visit mum I am struck by the happy and positive atmosphere there. Staff work well as a team and Ditton has the feeling of a big family home environment, where residents are able to potter between their own room, communal lounge, garden and other areas, as and when they wish, with staff interacting and always attentive to their needs. Staff contact me promptly if there are any medical or other issues regarding mum, and I now have great peace of mind, knowing that she is being looked after by a fantastic team in such a warm and caring environment.

I visit with my younger sister, we usually visit on a Friday and have lunch with our mum. She has dementia. I am her only twin as we lost my sister in 2011. I am at home now following a brain bleed, I am on long-term sick, redundant from working, driving etc. I have two older brothers who do not visit
at all. We find the home is everything mum needs.

From the start it's been great. It's such a traumatic experience for everyone involved, my mother has been treated so well as have I. Always with a smile and much love, I spend watching TV in her room with always a lovely cup of tea. Meals and the food is always good and I'm a chef, yes we are very
happy indeed. Thank you all.

I was very impressed by the team. Always on the case immediately - phone me even before the hospital told me my dad was being placed there. Totally on top of his care and proactive. The staff are kind and friendly. I always felt my dad was in the best place and being looked after well. Overall, very
impressed. In particular, I would like to thank the manager.

Reply from Deborah Ferris, Registered manager at Ditton Priors Care Centre

I was sent by the local hospital, I did not wish to come - I made a fuss. If in future I need a break, I would come here if there was a bed available. The young carers are helpful, the food is excellent - where else would you get a bacon sandwich for breakfast. The drugs are given by trained staff on
time. A good local doctor visits.

Reply from Deborah Ferris, Registered manager at Ditton Priors Care Centre

I visited my mother in law yesterday. She greeted us with a lovely smile, something we have not seen for a good few months, she was very chatty and very settled. The staff were very caring and compassionate, the support they have given my mother-in-law is amazing, she has been there on a trial period
and has now decided to stay as she feels safe secure and extremely well looked after. For us, as a family, this means a lot. It is so homely and has a family atmosphere. Thank you to each and every one of the staff you're true heroes.

This care centre has looked after my Mother superbly well for the last 2 years. The building and garden are well maintained, warm in the summer months with adequate fans if needed and cosy and snug in the colder months. The rooms are beautifully painted and furnished. The meals all look appetising and
well prepared.
The care my Mother has received has been exemplary. Each carer is happy, smiling and conscious of individuals needs. Nothing is too much trouble. As a family, we are always welcomed and kept in the loop regarding Mum's care pathway.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.516)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.516) out of 10 for Ditton Priors Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.716 for Ditton Priors Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.716

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ditton Priors Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
