The Field House Care Home is a beautiful, cosy residential home in the rolling hills of Shropshire. Church Stretton as a town has recently been voted one of the best places to live in Shropshire, due to its outstanding views and community spirit.

The dedicated team of staff work together to provide the residents with the best care possible, in a home from home atmosphere. Carers achieve this by working as a robust team that operates by treating everyone as if they were their own grandparents!

The rooms have spacious en-suite facilities with lovely views, which can be decorated with their own personal furniture, photographs, pictures and anything else that may make it feel as close to home as possible.

Person-centred care is at the heart of everything that happens at Field House, with residents' needs and preferences being considered at all times. The meals are delicious and freshly prepared in the home's kitchen. There is always a full activities schedule, in which all residents will find something that they enjoy, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Mum went in for post op care in Oct 24 and she has Alzheimer's. Field House was highly recommended by a friend of mum's who has made it his permanent home. From the first step in the door I knew it was the place to be. Four months on it has turned out to be such a godsend. For mum she has regained
her physical health, made good friends, got a stable happy safe life with round the clock care from people she respects and likes. She feels the team can't do enough for her and particularly "treat me as normal, even when I do daft things"! My anxiety levels about mum's wellbeing, from when she lived in her own home, have dropped completely and the advice and guidance I've received from the team has been invaluable. They are definitely doing something very right and go the extra mile to make the home caring and fun. They do an incredibly difficult job and mum and I are hugely appreciative.

Barchester The Field House Care Home is a lovely care home. Our dad came here soon after our mum died - he was frail, sad and withdrawn - he has settled in so well and has a whole new lease of life. It is such a friendly, active home - lots of trips out, entertainment and activities. He is so well looked
after and happy. We can not fault it.

My father has been resident in Barchester The Field House Care Home for 18 months now. When he arrived he was withdrawn and depressed as we had recently lost our mum, his wife of 70 years.
He has blossomed in a way I would not have believed possible. He takes part in all the activities and is constantly
telling me what he has been doing. The staff are amazing they look after him in a respectful manner and are kind and attentive. Everything is clean and organised and the food is lovely, always with a choice.
I really can find no fault in the care we/he receives. I am disabled myself and they are always on hand to help me as well as dad.

Mum has settled into Barchester The Field House Care Home and is enjoying the activities and trips out. The carers are excellent and Mum is very well taken care of. The range of activities provided and organised for residents is excellent and carried out with great patience and good humour. Mum loves

During our visit to our family member, the staff were friendly, helpful and gave us respect and privacy during our visit. They were respectful towards both us and our family member. From the moment I stepped into Field House, I was greeted very warmly and with a lovely smile from a carer. She escorted myself and family to my auntie's room. I went into respite care in June/July and was impressed from the start. I was invited for coffee and biscuits to do the paperwork, or they were happy to come to me, I had a wonderfully warm welcome and was really happy for my stay. I have been back several times since, to afternoon tea, garden fete
and Christmas fayre and have always been welcomed. I would be more than happy to stay there again in the future.

I visited my cousin for the first time today as part of a larger group. The welcome was warm and genuine and my cousin clearly feels at home. His room is wonderful - bright, well decorated and his own furniture makes the transition easier. We were told of quiz events, social evenings and enjoyable mealtimes.
I was able to speak to the manager and employee of the month (September) - both of whom were professional and kind.

Hi, my name is Paula, and I am the General Manager here at Field House.


I started working in the care sector when I was 20 years old after assisting my grandmother when she was ill. When I lost my grandmother, I decided that I had lots to offer to the care sector and that this is where I wanted to pursue my career. I started as a care assistant and gradually worked my way up the ladder to Deputy Manager at a sister care home within Barchester.


In January 2021, I was offered a wonderful opportunity to become the General Manager at Field House. It is an honour and privilege to be the General Manager at this home and to build relationships with residents and their families.


I truly believe that Field House is the best care setting and has the best care team in Shropshire. Together we are creating a home for every resident where they can pursue their hobbies, stay safe and enjoy new experiences.

Hi, I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.


Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, and weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.


In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Alongside the head chef, I am responsible for providing a top-class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.


Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents. I spend time with each new resident to ensure that my team and I are aware of their preferences and favourites when they first move into Field House.
