My godmother has been at Weston House for nearly 2 years. She settled well in EMI and for such a private person just seems to enjoy it. She tries with the activities when it suits her. She is just content. Any behavioral issues, and there has been some, she is treated with such caring and kindness.
Her needs and safety are paramount and I am kept informed of any issues and falls. She is clean, well cared for and happy. Would I mover her? No, she wouldn't allow it.

The reason I put satisfactory for the room - the emergency stairs are obstructing the day light in the room (realise this is not easy to fix). My sister says the food is good. The staff are kind and helpful. The manager has encouraged my sister to paint and draw again. As far as I can see, the staff
arranged activities and outings to improve well-being and health (thinking about my sister in particular).

My dad was admitted five weeks ago and the manager and all staff have been so understanding and caring with the sudden stroke and dementia that befell my dad. Always welcomed from everyone, from the cleaner to manager, with thoughtfulness and are always available for a chat. Dad has struggled to settle
but "patience" is the staff's middle name and are all doing their best to help the transition to his new home go smoothly.

I cannot fault the care/support that my mother receives. I don't have any experience with food so I am unable to comment. However bedrooms, bathrooms and toilet (commode) are unacceptable and leave a lot to be desired. They desperately need to be upgraded or put in place. This would benefit both residents
and staff. Also double glazing maybe of benefit.

Weston House is an exceptional home, I am confident that my relative has the best care possible. All the staff are attentive, kind and gentle. I am kept informed of any health issues promptly and emphatically. The EMI Unit where my relative lives is bright and cheerful, the home is warm and welcoming.
It is like visiting one big family!

My mum has been staying at Weston House for five months now and overall everything is going well but there have been a couple of incidents which have happened which have disappointed us and one was an incident where my mum was left on the step outside the home on her own even though she has dementia,
we were horrified at that, and also Mum went over a week without a shower, and a few incidents with her diet as Mum has high cholesterol her meals need to be low fat, especially dairy.

My auntie has been staying in Weston House for just over two years. When asked she says she is well looked after by all the staff and has a good relationship with everyone. Her bedroom is very comfortable and she spends a lot of time in her room. My auntie says she feels safe and cared for in Weston

My mother seems to be well cared for and appears content with her life at this home. On visiting her, I always feel that there are sufficient staff on duty who are always helpful and easy to approach. The food is nutritious and Mum looks healthy. When I've needed to speak to someone, whether it be the manager or nurse. I have found them available and helpful. Mum's room is kept clean, and her bedding is clean. And she had her nails painted the last time I visited. I believe they are taking great care of Mum. It's a very hard job, which I have
nothing but respect for, but for me to know she's being looked after well, gives me peace of mind the likes of which I can't put into words. I am grateful to both staff and manager for doing such a good job. There are regular activities, and it's a nice building, the dining room lets light in and Mum seems to like to spend her time there. Her TV is all set up, and she has her belongings all with her, the maintenance man has helped with putting pictures up. Thank you very much to all the staff.

My wife has been admitted into Weston House after a long illness. We both agree that the care is truly excellent. The entire team is so kind and professional. Medical attention is organised proficiently as well as additional care (for a modest cost, such as haircutting, chiropody). The kitchen staff
are also very caring. Overall a good family atmosphere is created.

Whilst the hands-on carers were lovely with my mum and made mum feel welcome, this was not down to the manager. I found that the manager was lacking in people skills and was also lacking in managerial skills. The manager contradicted herself and made two requests to have a meeting with us and failed
to attend.
I fully appreciate that there was an outbreak of covid making things more difficult, however, a manager should be able to deal with this.
I should like to make a big shout out to the senior, she is a credit to the home and was always friendly and extremely helpful.

Mum settled in very quickly and got a lot of fuss to help her feel at home. Some of the staff are young and very good despite this in making the residents feel as if they matter. I have been really impressed by the care and that they have managed to produce a family atmosphere.

Our mum who recently passed away last month in Weston House had extremely good care throughout the last 18 months she was resident there, with Alzheimer's and dementia. The manager and her staff did a terrific job caring for her every need. She was treated as though she was in her own home, which therefore
made her at ease and comfortable. We could phone at any time to check on her well being and the staff were always happy to talk and discuss matters. Our mum had a wonderful 18 months under the care of Weston House. We can't thank them enough.

My father was not happy with the lack of care that he received. He was not washed or offered a bath, his personal hygiene suffered. We had to send in his carers that had helped him at home to make sure he was not getting red and sore between his groin. One carer tried to get my father to stand by grabbing
him by the back of his trousers and pulling him up. As you can imagine this was very painful. We will be moving Dad as soon as possible.

This gentleman came to Weston house as the care agency felt he was not safe on his own, he was not happy about coming into care but he was persuaded to give it a go, the care agency asked if they could continue to come and see him on a regular basis to give him some continuity and a familiar face, I agreed this was a good idea as I know he was really struggling with leaving his home. The care agency asked after a couple of days if they could come in every day to give one-one support (as this is what the gentleman was used to) again I agreed this was good idea. This gentleman did have washes and shaves, I supported him myself one night after he had a meeting and my deputy supported the shave.On Tuesday the 3rd a bath was requested for the next day by the gentleman, prior to this he had said no to us which we didn't push as we felt he needed time to get to no us, we asked what time he would like it, he was not sure as he had a meeting at 3 0 clock but he also wanted to go the activities planed and have a bath, we agreed we would inform him when his visitor came, his visitor did not turn up until after 5pm after they left he said he did not want a bath , The care agency only came into to socialise, we did all personal care (Debbie) care kind did infact complement my team on the good job they were doing.
Food, this gentleman had very specific requirements for breakfast,3 Weetabix,1 shredded wheat, sprinkle of Muesli banana , demerara sugar and plenty of milk(cold) after a couple of days he said he didn't want this any more, he would like egg and bacon, which was provided, menus are provided to choose your food, but our cooks will cook other food if asked. I am truly sorry that this gentleman did not have a good experience at Weston, but we may have been able to make his stay more comfortable if his family had asked to speak to me to express their concerns, he was only with us for a couple of weeks and was moved to a nursing home.

I have been working within care for over 12yrs with management experience that covers residential care, nursing care, EMI and community care. My main specialisation is in dementia care.


I'm passionate about personalised person-centred care, getting my staff, residents and their families to be active in the community and ensuring my home epitomise "living life in colour".


My hobbies are playing the piano, singing in my local choir, travelling and Formula 1( I love Japanese cars and am a big fan of the British driver Lewis Hamilton ).
