Family-owned and managed.

Deansfield is a home for people living with dementia where life is celebrated. There is fun and activity alongside professional, kind, and compassionate care and support.

With 2.5 acres of garden, residents can wander at will, sit in the summerhouse, walk with the dogs, feed the ducks, chickens, goats, and alpacas, help in the organic vegetable garden and greenhouse or just sit on one of the seats and watch the amazing selection of wild birds.

Inside is just like home, with good fresh food, single rooms, and independent or fully assisted bathing facilities.

A newly built conservatory (May 2022) measuring an impressive 18 x 19 is the perfect location to take advantage of the beautiful views. People get up when they want and return to bed when they want. Individuality is encouraged and shared experiences are enriched by thoughtful activity.

Deansfield really is a home for life.

My brother was a resident at Deansfield for several months until his death in late November. Throughout his time there he was treated with kindness consideration and love. The staff were professional and nothing was too much trouble. His care before his death was exemplary and his end was peaceful and
loving. Every time we visited him it was obvious that he was happy (as much as one can be with severe dementia and kidney failure) and we were made very welcome - cups of tea and cake! I cannot recommend this home from home highly enough and I will always be grateful for their loving care of a much-loved brother.

Deansfield is set in beautiful surroundings with chickens, ducks, alpacas and goats in amongst the gardens and grounds. The home is imaginatively decorated and feels like a proper home not a "care" home. Residents are always beautifully dressed and enjoy the activities the wonderful staff arranges for
them. It is a place where life is celebrated. Residents get up when they want and go to bed when they are ready. Meals are freshly prepared and tailored to individual needs where necessary. My father continues to thrive with dialysis condition and dementia because attention to detail and diet are strictly adhered to.

We took the chance and moved our mother from one care home to Deansfield. It was the best decision ever. Deansfield has everything and more. It feels like 'home' and the quirky extras make it a pleasant place to live or visit. Everything about the place is positive.

Selecting a care home for my dearly loved partner was one of the most crucial decisions I have ever had to undertake. My partner has vascular dementia and renal failure, he attends the local hospital three times and week for dialysis and has special dietary needs. It is imperative that he lives in a
safe and secure, compassionate and caring, comfortable environment. Deansfield certainly meets all the criterion and so much more.

The owner and all of her staff (or should I say, team, as clearly they are) without exception, demonstrate wonderful qualities and exceptional skills in caring for my partner. Paramount to this in my view, is the emphasis they clearly place on providing for tailored individual and personal needs. Everyone at Deansfield involved in my partner's life, who is a quiet, dignified and gentle gentleman is clearly committed to their various roles in providing a caring, attentive and supportive home from home.

From my own perspective, I am always welcomed warmly and made to feel comfortable. I feel free to be involved in my partner's care and well-being which naturally is vital to me. Deansfield is a truly outstanding care home and I would not hesitate to recommend it to either my family or friends.

My mum-in-law lived at Deansfield for over 4 years. In this time she was treated with dignity and respect. This was her home and she was treated as a member of the family. We could visit at any time and were always made to feel welcome with tea and biscuits.

The staff were always lovely to my mum-in-law

and she was looked after well. They always had time for conversation and listened to what she had to say. They never talked down to her and always told her what was going in if she needed help. We never felt we were going to an institution, clinic or hospital, we always felt we were going to her home.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.017)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.017) out of 10 for Deansfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.829 for Deansfield is calculated as follows: ( (30 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.829

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.188 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deansfield is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 registered maximum number of service users is 3.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.2 = 0.938

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
