Lane House is a large Georgian house that has been expanded to provide registered care. The home accommodates 33 residents and has an excellent reputation for providing care for the elderly, especially those who are venerable due to conditions like dementia. The professional and experienced team at Lane House allows the care to be tailored to each resident with help from the resident and their loved ones.

Lane House aims to meet the needs of all its residents by achieving six core values of care:

- Privacy
- Dignity
- Rights
- Independence
- Choice
- Fulfilment

Lane House has its own rear private and secure garden surrounded by trees, allowing the residents to enjoy fresh air and sunshine. The home has undergone a major refurbishment, which finished in January 2021. This has transformed the home and given it the special feeling the residents and staff deserve.

The level of care displayed at Lane House is second to none. All the staff are fantastic, have great patience and show true caring to the residents. My mother had nothing but kindness shown to her. Her room was great with a lovely garden view, fantastic on a hot day with the windows open. There is always
something going on with plenty of different activities to keep the residents occupied. The home itself is spotless and always looks welcoming. My mother really did have a great time in your care.

On first impressions the home appears to be lovely, well decorated, clean and the bedrooms look comfortable. Unfortunately the care afforded to my mother did not reflect this. I was extremely disappointed and quite frankly traumatised with how she was treated. Some staff appeared to try, but generally
communication was virtually none existent especially from management. I would urge anyone to think carefully before sending a loved one here!

Dear Reviewer,

We are disappointed to receive this review, considering all the serious allegations have been proven false, thus being closed down by the safeguarding team, and this review was subsequently posted after the verdict was made. It has been 10 months since your mum left Lane House after the professional teams (Doctor, CPN, and District Nurse) sadly had to make the decision that we could no longer meet your mum's care needs. This is always the last resort for us, but we had your mum's best interest in mind to ensure she got the best care.

Overall, we understand that you have your mum's best interest at heart. However, posting a negative and defamatory review against the home when everything was done and followed correctly is disappointing for the staff who work tirelessly to protect and care for all our residents.

We hope your mum is well and wish her all the best.

Yours Sincerely
Alex

My mom loves it at Lane House, we were really worried about how she would settle in but to our surprise she loves it!
The carers are all lovely and really look after her and all the other residents. They treat her with respect and dignity, nothing is too much for them, even when they are rushed off
their feet. The two ladies who do the activities are brilliant too and this home has very good management. The food is homemade and Mom loves it!

My sister and I looked at several care homes, Lane House was by far the nicest we have seen, it was beautifully presented and the staff were very helpful. My father is very happy there also when we visit we are made to feel part of the family.

On Friday 14th July 2023 my dad moved into Lane House after a stay in hospital and a family decision that Dad needed 24-hour care, it was not a decision we wanted to make but my goodness it was surely the right one! Dad is thriving, he’s putting on weight, eating better, has company all day, can reside
in his own beautiful room if he so chooses! I asked Dad if he was happy and he said “yes”, he is feeling “more at ease everyday!” All members of staff from management to care assistants to catering to entertainment to maintenance to housekeeping are all so approachable, nothing is too much trouble! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the chance to be my dad's “daughter” again! I can sleep at night knowing he is in the best possible hands! Keep up the good work!

The manager was friendly, informative and welcoming from the onset, putting all our worries and concerns at ease. From day one, person centered care was a priority for Dad.
Ongoing activities are constant, which are fun filled and stimulating. Dad is always well dressed, clean and groomed whilst shown
dignity and respect from staff who behave natural and friendly in their approach.
Lane House has a home from home ambience, it is clean, fresh, inviting and has a natural, warm and homely feeling. Residents are encouraged to utilise their remaining skills and be independent, where possible, engaging in activities like cooking. Visitors are always made to feel welcome.
Management and staff are very supportive providing help, advice and are always on hand to address any questions or concerns.
A very special thank you to management and staff for their efficiency in providing necessary, diligent, attentive care, at such a high standard. Lane House, highly recommended.

Lane House tries so hard to give overall good care to their residents. They have a great activities package with dedicated activity staff that go above and beyond. My mother has had long-term care at this home and has been happy and very content.

I put off moving my mother into residential care as I had been told she was better at home. It became obvious to me though that she wasn't doing well and her carers couldn't fulfil her needs so I decided it was time. With more than a few misgivings and a big sense of guilt, I went ahead. I had looked
at a few residential homes and some did nothing to set my mind at rest.
I then came across Lane House and as soon as I walked through the door I was impressed with the place. It was clean smart and welcoming, my worries about whether am I doing the right thing? were dispelled, in short, I felt reassured as it's not an easy thing to decide.
The staff are welcoming and helpful, I can say without doubt they really care about the residents. Mom always looks good, her hair is groomed, her nails are done and she has improved since she started living there. Lane House Care Home has a policy of encouraging peer socialisation and its doing Mom a world of good. I would recommend Lane House.

We appreciate all that the caring staff do. Recently lots of lovely events have been organised and greatly enjoyed. The staff seem more relaxed and so does our relative. The food seems better too and more varied. We know that Lane House is definitely the best place for our relative knowing she is safe,
happy and very well cared for. Thank you to all the staff.

My mum has been a resident for over 4 years. From day one the staff have made her feel that it's her home. They are caring and empathetic giving me confidence that she's happy and cared for especially during the pandemic. The meals they are served is first class and there is always a birthday so cake
is a must! The activities lady really thinks outside the box to think of things for them to do and keeps them doing things they would normally do in their own home. I cannot recommend Lane House highly enough!

Mum has only been here for a very short time but my overriding impression has been of a very friendly and welcoming home. Within a very short time of Mum arriving in the home, the cook came to introduce herself and asked about food preferences. Every member of staff has been so friendly and they can't
do enough for Mum. She has a beautifully clean en-suite room overlooking the gorgeous gardens. I have every confidence that Mum will be safe and happy here.

My mom came to Lane House on a short stay. My family agreed she was to stay there. Everyone in the home is one big family. We are always made to feel very welcome.
The home has been decorated and it looks lovely but still has that homely feeling.

A beautiful care home. The care is fantastic. All of the staff take care of the residents in such a kind and caring way, and show empathy and give them dignity. The house is full of fun and laughter. They have a beautiful garden and courtyard which they allow residents to enjoy as much as possible.
I can't fault the place. Thank you Lane House.

The home has done a wonderful job of keeping all the residents safe and well during the last year, whilst working in unprecedented circumstances. They have recently introduced face to face visits which are conducted in a safe way. Staff have always been cheerful and helpful every time I have visited.
When visits were not permitted they introduced video calls so their residents could stay in touch with their families.

Thank you for your response and for taking the time to complete the review, we really do appreciate this. I do disagree with you though on your rating for activities as they are amazing at the home. The activity Co-ordinator makes a huge effort facilitating activities for the needs of the residents, this has been especially hard because of the lockdown period. Once the country comes out of this period then regular visits will start again to local garden and tea and coffee centres.

My mother began living in the home during the pandemic and just before the 2nd lockdown. Can't fault the way the staff dealt with her isolation period and keeping in touch via social media at these difficult times, so that despite all hurdles my mother settled well and is happy there.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.254)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.254) out of 10 for Lane House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.454 for Lane House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.454

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lane House Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
