The best way to describe The Old Vicarage is 'home from home'.
Dad as been resident for over 2 and a half years and has been looked after extremely well. The staff and management are professional, friendly and very caring. They always have time for a chat or to discuss any issues with family members.
We are very well informed of any changes or events, regular meetings are held and emails sent out.
I feel very much at ease knowing dad is so well looked after and that all his needs are catered for. I would highly recommend The Old Vicarage.

My mother was placed in here for respite care to start with but because of the quality of care by the staff and owners, it was decided that we would place her there permanently. The home puts the needs of the residents first, the quality of care is exceptional, every need of the residents is catered
for and when you visit you are made to feel welcome. Family are included and informed of all aspects of care and are involved in regular meetings with the owners and manager. There are regular activities, recently there was a family BBQ, you can arrange to have Sunday lunch with your loved one, and a Christmas party is also arranged. As a family, we feel that The Old Vicarage provides a very positive environment for a dementia sufferer and gives us as a family, a feeling of well being and peace of mind knowing that our loved one is being looked after so well.

My family is very pleased with how my mum is treated at the Old Vicarage. The owners and staff all go the extra mile to make my mum comfortable. If my mum gets anxious they always manage to turn her mood around so that she is in a better place (with her mind).
There has been a garden party where all
staff, families and residents had fun in the sun with music, food and activities.
The fabric of the building has altered tremendously with new white goods and has been redecorated throughout. The new double glazing is so nice and a new security system has also been installed. They have given Mum a nice home where she feels really safe and valued.

My mum is a resident of the Old Vicarage care home and is very well looked after. The staff are very patient and caring and we are always met with a smile when visiting. The home is very clean and well maintained and has a home from home atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a
nice friendly place for their relatives.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.272)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.272) out of 10 for The Old Vicarage Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.772 for The Old Vicarage Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.772

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage Residential Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
