The staff have been great after my mother had a short hospital stay. All staff measures were put in place to ensure her safety, her room was changed to accommodate a suitable bed.

My Mum has been a resident for well over a year now and I can't fault the care she receives. I love the fact that I'm able to discuss her care plan and am always informed of any changes. It's nice to feel included but it's even nicer to know that I no longer need to worry because all her needs are being
met.
She has a lovely room which is personalized with some of her own possessions and bits of furniture. It was lovely to be included in the choices for decor. I can't thank the manager enough! The menu is excellent and the food is very tasty. There are regular activities and entertainment which my Mum loves. She gets her hair done once a week and her nails. These are things that were always important to her and she loves a pamper so thank you on her behalf.
I did a lot of research before choosing Spratslade and I am not disappointed with my choice. The manager and all the staff are wonderful, friendly and approachable. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.

My mother was admitted to Spratslade Hoyse on 18/10/2022 after being in the hospital. She is 105 years old, and right away, she was made welcome. It took a while to settle in, but now she absolutely loves it. The staff are really lovely and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. Always cheerful. When
visiting, they meet you at the door, always know your name and who you are visiting, escort you to where my mother is and asks if you want a drink. Could not be more helpful.

My dad receives the best care possible. The carers couldn't do any more for him, they are very supportive to our family too. Dad is well fed, well looked after and the carers are worth their weight in gold, they really should be paid more for the jobs that they do.

The home is cosy and very clean. The resident's rooms are comfortable and private. The furniture and decoration is very good. The lounge area and dining room is clean and spacious. The staff are very good and helpful, and the food is variable. Acitvities are conducted on a regular basis. The care and
support are treated with dignity at all times. Safety/securty is excellent. The management are helpful and run the home with care.

My opinion is my mum gets first-class care. We have recently lost my youngest brother, Mum's son, and the staff when we broke the news has been beyond praise. They all show such care and compassion at all times. We, as a family, are more than happy. Had a few hiccups along the way, but all were dealt
with very professionally and confidently.

My father has been in Spratslade since May 2021. He absolutely loves it. All staff are caring and friendly and show my dad respect in all aspects of his care. They are like family members. Activities are varied. The management keeps us informed of any needs dad may have.

Mum has been a resident at Spratslade for over three years. Before this, she was in sheltered accommodation and was struggling to cope. The home has been a lifeline for her, and we've seen her confidence increase immensely. She now feels safe and is cared for regarding both medical and hygiene needs
and also feels part of a friendly community. All in all, we have seen Mum rally and is enjoying life again since going into the home.

The staff have always been warm, welcoming and informative. My mother has no complaints. They have taken care of all her needs, particularly medical. Previously, she was at home with carers and did not eat properly or ask them to do anything. Since being at Spratslade, she has put weight back on and
looks and appears healthy.

My mum has been in Spratslade for 8-months. The difference in her is amazing. She looks a totally different woman from when she first went in there. She looks so much more healthy and happy. She says the staff can't do enough for her, and she loves the company and entertainment they provide. She says
her bedroom is really nice, and she wants for nothing. I would definitely recommend Spratslade house to anyone.

Our Mum moved into Spratslade in January 2021, and because of the Covid restrictions, we were unable to look around inside. We got a good feeling about everything and took the decision to accept the place for Mum. We could not have chosen a better place for her. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful
and professional. Mum loves the food and says that there is not one member of staff that she doesn't like or isn't good at their job. When Mum isn't well, the staff are quick to get medical help and always keep us informed.

Mum has settled really quickly, which has helped to reassure us. Staff are friendly and kind. Communication is good and staff know each person and their family on an individual basis. They only addition I would ask for is an additional breakout or small meeting room for families.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.200)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.200) out of 10 for Spratslade is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.867 for Spratslade is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.867

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spratslade is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
