Eight years ago we were looking for a suitable home for my mother who had suffered from Vascular Dementia, a traumatic time for anyone in our situation. We had viewed several homes and weren’t impressed by what we had seen. A social worker mentioned Butts Croft as a possibility so we arranged a visit.
As soon as we entered, we realised this home was far above anything we had seen previously, with such friendly and professional staff, the rooms were modern and clean with all the facilities you need. The same staff are still there now and taking so much time to care for my mother who has deteriorated considerably over the years, keeping her clean and treating her with the dignity she would have appreciated. My husband and I have so much high regard for the home and the staff that run Butts Croft, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone that find themselves in a similar situation, not sure which home to place their loved ones in.

I cannot praise the staff of Butts Croft highly enough. They looked after mum, whilst she was convalescing after an acute illness.
The manager and her staff are simply wonderful, caring, patient and understanding, even with very demanding residents. Being a medic, I spend a lot of time visiting care
homes and am very impressed with the care shown.
The home made food is delicious. I have never seen food served in a care facility that is of such high standard. All freshly made on-site and the staff managed to get mum's appetite back after she had previously lost over 4 stone in weight.
The facility is clean. mum's bed linen was changed daily and the home does not have that 'typical care home odour' at all.
They were also very helpful when we brought in our own private physiotherapist. Mum went into this home unable to walk, but with adequate rest, a great physiotherapist and lots of encouragement, is now living home alone and able to walk. Thank you so much.

My father was in Butts Croft for two and half years until he died. When he first went in there he was able to get around but because no one helps them actively he went downhill, the last three months of his life he was in the fetal position so bed bound, there were carers who were very good and others
a bit slapdash, did not always look clean when went to see him. The thing that disappointed us most as a family was that no one came and showed respect to him at his funeral so to me it showed how much they have respect for you after the person has died.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.558)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.558) out of 10 for Butts Croft House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.758 for Butts Croft House is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.758

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Butts Croft House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
