Nestled on the outskirts of the rural town of Shipston-on-Stour, Low Furlong is a purpose-built 68 bed residential home providing excellent standards of care for older people, including those living with dementia.

An easy, 10-minute walk from the centre of this beautiful market town, Low Furlong is ideally situated with easy access to the countryside, as well as the convenience of nearby shops. With historic Stratford-upon-Avon a mere 15 minutes away by car, this well-appointed and welcoming care home enjoys the benefits of a central location but with the calm, quiet charm of semi-rural position.

As part of a modern development, Low Furlong has been planned with the needs of residents very much in mind. All bedrooms feature a very high standard of decoration, including en-suite bathrooms and pleasant views over raised flower beds - premium rooms even boast doors leading out into their own patio or the communal seating area.

Low Furlong is entirely access-friendly throughout with wide, spacious corridors contributing to the bright and airy feel, whilst still ensuring that residents of all levels of mobility can enjoy the freedom to move around in maximum comfort and safety.

The home has been thoughtfully decorated throughout with the inclusion of dementia-friendly colour schemes, as well as both quiet and 'retro' lounges - the latter featuring decoration and furniture from yesteryear, in addition to hand-picked antiques which residents are encouraged to interact with.

The innovative idea of having dedicated street names and individual room numbers allows residents to maintain a personal postage address - enabling individuals to retain their identity and independence whilst still enjoying the benefits of professional care and support.

The manager and her team really care for the residents and their families. They work hard to maintain the residents' quality of life. The staff are happy to answer any questions and regularly give the families feedback. Mom has settled in really well and I highly recommend the home.

I cannot think of a better place for my mum to spend her latter years. The care she receives from the absolutely fantastic staff is amazing, they are so caring and go out of their way to treat all the residents as family. The staff keep residents family well informed of everything that is going on and
I always look forward to the weekly newsletter with photos of all of the events that have taken place during the week. My mum went on a trip to the seaside this week which is just one of the many trips that are organised and which she thoroughly enjoyed. I truly cannot praise the staff and management enough for the level of care, and fun, that my mum has, which has enabled her to settle into Low Furlong so well, literally from day one. When we knew Mum needed extra care, Low Furlong was the first, and only home, we visited, as it became clear very quickly that we would not find anywhere better. As the saying goes, when you know you know, and we knew Low Furlong was perfect for mum.

My mum has been a resident for over 3 years and has been very happy there and I have also been very extremely happy with her care. During the past few weeks, as she has been unwell, I have spent many hours at her bedside and have seen first-hand just how wonderful everyone is. Not only do they look
after the residents but they are very caring to relatives at a difficult time. Nothing is too much trouble from the senior management to the carers, the catering staff, the housekeeping team and everyone in between. I have seen how great the daily activities are and the social media coverage and weekly email updates are just great. I would not hesitate to recommend Low Furlong for a loved one. It truly deserves its 'outstanding' rating.

After a routine blood test organised by the home, we were called to take Mum immediately to the hospital. The home had Mum and her hospital bag all ready to go. Most importantly her notes were ready, they were completely up to date, including for that day. These were absolutely invaluable in the hospital
e.g. so they could discount some conditions and understand Mum's circumstances.
Our mum has dementia, we trust the home implicitly and know how much they love and respect her.

My father has settled in so well since he first came into the home in March. He initially came for a trial stay but kept extending this as he became accustomed to his surroundings and the way of life in the home. He loves the food and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. He moved from Nottingham
to the home and the management team has really supported him in transferring his ongoing medical care from his Hospital to the local one in a timely manner. Whenever I visit my father I'm always struck by the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the home never too busy but also never too quiet, a great balance which I suspect is not easy to create. I could not imagine a better home for my father and have already recommended it to others.

Long Furlong was the perfect choice for our mum. The facilities are new and clean, and while the care and love provided are the best, which is hugely reassuring for us as family members. I work overseas, and my mother is a resident. My sisters are the more frequent visitors but I can attest to the absolutely amazing treatment my mum has at Low Furlong. She is, most importantly, safe and well cared for but the leadership and staff also make her feel completely at home. She is treated
with dignity and encouraged to involve herself in activities. We feel fortunate to have our mum living in such a great nursing home. Thank you for making Mum's days so comfortable and fun.

Our mum is extremely happy and contented at Low Furlong, which is her home. She is well cared for and sensitively supported. As someone living with Alzheimer's, life is challenging and confusing. However, she is stimulated and can engage with activities in a way that suits her. Staff are kind, patient,

The activities arranged each day are second to none, keeping the residents stimulated and active. There is always something to do if they want to but equally they are left to rest if they don't want to get involved. The staff are never too far away and nothing is too much trouble.

This is simply a wonderful, caring place. There is a culture that nothing is too much trouble and it comes from the top. I believe they want it to feel like home. Low Furlong is well managed with great staff full of happiness and life. The 8 months my mum-in-law was there she was encouraged to take part in many activities and go on trips. Her quality of life was much improved and she was well fed warm and safe which we could not sustain in her home environment.
The care and compassion given to us when she passed was second to none and made it easier to come to terms with. We would not hesitate to recommend Low Furlong to all who need peace of mind. Thank you.

This home is fabulous. The permanent staff are truly caring and go out of their way to make a difference. I’m always kept up to date with things, invited to the regular events and felt heard. Nan loves it; her room is kitted out with her things (far too much of it), and she feels like family. Nan doesn’t
suffer from dementia, but she has a great relationship with the residents and staff alike.

Welcome to Low Furlong, our lovely purpose-built home. I am Amie I work at Low Furlong, situated just on the outskirts of the Cotswolds. Recently being appointed Acting Manager.


We provide person-centred care in our beautiful, busy, and bustling home. I have worked in care for over 20 years and truly believe that residents are at the heart of all we do. Everyone that walks through the door at Low Furlong comments on the lovely atmosphere. Low Furlong has strong links and relationships with the local community and strives to create a family feel whilst providing high quality care and a huge range of activities for residents.

Hannah Glennie-Gowers

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I'm Hannah. I am the Deputy Manager at Low Furlong.


With 10 years of experience at Low Furlong, I am passionate about helping people get the most out of life and ensuring they enjoy themselves along the way. One of my proudest achievements was setting up the PCS system, contributing to Low Furlong’s outstanding CQC rating.


Outside of work, I am an avid racehorse owner, with my trainer being the renowned Donald McCain (whose father famously trained Red Rum). In my free time, I enjoy both horse racing and darts, balancing a love for competition and sport.
