Nestled on the outskirts of the rural town of Shipston-on-Stour, Low Furlong is a purpose-built 68 bed residential home providing excellent standards of care for older people, including those living with dementia.

An easy, 10-minute walk from the centre of this beautiful market town, Low Furlong is ideally situated with easy access to the countryside, as well as the convenience of nearby shops. With historic Stratford-upon-Avon a mere 15 minutes away by car, this well-appointed and welcoming care home enjoys the benefits of a central location but with the calm, quiet charm of semi-rural position.

As part of a modern development, Low Furlong has been planned with the needs of residents very much in mind. All bedrooms feature a very high standard of decoration, including en-suite bathrooms and pleasant views over raised flower beds - premium rooms even boast doors leading out into their own patio or the communal seating area.

Low Furlong is entirely access-friendly throughout with wide, spacious corridors contributing to the bright and airy feel, whilst still ensuring that residents of all levels of mobility can enjoy the freedom to move around in maximum comfort and safety.

The home has been thoughtfully decorated throughout with the inclusion of dementia-friendly colour schemes, as well as both quiet and 'retro' lounges - the latter featuring decoration and furniture from yesteryear, in addition to hand-picked antiques which residents are encouraged to interact with.

The innovative idea of having dedicated street names and individual room numbers allows residents to maintain a personal postage address - enabling individuals to retain their identity and independence whilst still enjoying the benefits of professional care and support.

I enjoyed my respite stay at Low Furlong. The staff, rooms and care were very good. They took care of me very well and the staff were friendly and chatty. I would have no hesitation in returning if I had to.

Both of my grandparents have been cared for at Low Furlong and I cannot express enough how impressed I was with the love and care they received. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home and always so much for people to do. I would recommend this home to anyone.

I did not think my mum would ever settle in a care home but she has settled in so well at Low Furlong. All the staff are kind and caring. Everyone chats to Mum giving her reassurance when she needs it. They have been patient and thoughtful with her too. The residents are all treated with respect and
the meals are superb.

From the moment you enter you can feel the warmth, genuine respect, and care with which residents are treated. Staff are all very friendly and attentive and build strong relationships with the residents who are all treated as individuals.
There is an excellent flow of information from the leadership
team to relatives and lots of opportunities to engage in the life of the care home.
My uncle suffers with dementia and significant mobility issues yet the staff all work hard to involve him in a wide range of activities that enrich his life despite his difficulties.
It’s an incredibly difficult decision finding suitable care for a loved one but I have no hesitation in recommending Low Furlong.

My mother initially moved into Low Furlong for a respite stay but after a few weeks, she had showed such improvement in her health and general wellbeing that it has now become her permanent home. Low Furlong is extremely well run by the management team and there is always a friendly atmosphere with
fun and laughter from residents and staff which echoes happiness. Knowing my mother is in such a happy, safe and friendly environment is such a relief to all the family.

My mother moved into Low Furlong in early October 2022 and I have been incredibly impressed with how well run the care home is. Management have been brilliant and helped so much in the transition from her previous home. The home is warm, clean, friendly and has such a lovely atmosphere - full of life,
fun and laughter. Even in the short time my mother has been at Low Furlong, I have noticed a real positive change in her appearance, her mobility and her social interactions with the other residents. I would not hesitate in recommending Low Furlong. They have been absolutely brilliant.

My mother moved into Low Furlong in August this year for "convalescence" after a hospital stay following a fall in her own home. She immediately relaxed and started enjoying her new surroundings. From the word go she would repeatedly ask how long she could stay at Low Furlong and has now decided to
stay permanently. She feels safe, valued and loved by the staff. All staff associated with Low Furlong are highly professional, caring and excellent at sharing and involving me with information regarding mum. The weekly newsletters received from the Manager are very welcome and I love sharing the photos of mum enjoying her activities with the rest of my family. Mum is enjoying all the lovely meals and is happy mixing, chatting and laughing with the other residents. Although Mum has dementia she is able to optimise her day-to-day living with the encouragement and support of all the staff. I am so relieved and happy that mum has moved into such a warm and caring environment.

We moved mom into Low Furlong in October, they have been so compassionate, understanding and 100% attentive to mom's needs, it has been a breath of fresh air knowing that mom is safe and cared for by the highly trained and understanding staff. My mum is 99, has dementia and her mobility is very poor. The staff at Low Furlong are fantastic. They treat mum with respect and take the greatest care to ensure her every need is met. Low Furlong is mum's extended family, that is the highest praise I can give. I know that if I am not able to visit
she is still surrounded by people who care for her. From a great management through to laundry and cleaning staff they are all 5 star.

My mother has severe dementia and at 97 there are some other problems. The Manager and her staff are unfailingly attentive, and thoughtful and they really care for her. I have nothing but the highest praise for all the staff without exception.

My mother did not want to go into a care home but changed her mind after a very short time at the home. My mother was difficult and could be intolerant but the staff management of her was excellent and she would then comment on how well they looked after her and tell me about the staff's families and
backgrounds. Talking about them as friends or even extended family members. Despite all of the covid restrictions my mother did not feel isolated or cut off. I have no hesitation in recommending the care home to others.

I could not be happier with my Mum’s care at Low Furlong, she has now been a resident since November 2018 and thinks of it as home.


The Care Team are wonderful people and make my Mum feel totally at ease. Whenever I visit there is a happy atmosphere amongst the carers, Mum can not speak highly enough

about the way she is looked after.


Even though the lockdown phases the families have always been kept well informed by the lovely Manager as to what is happening within the home.


For most families, this is a difficult time losing their loved ones in care, at Low Furlong you are helped to accept this phase and everyone is so kind and caring making sure the translation is made with compassion.


I know my Mum feels loved, valued, and respected and that for me is all I could have ever wished for.

Our Dad was a resident in Low Furlong for only a few weeks, but in that short time, we got to know the team and were very impressed with both the Home environment itself and the Care received. The home was spotless, very well run and the staff are an exceptional team who went above and beyond every

From the top downwards, the staff are conscientious, cheerful, and diligent in their care of residents. The home exudes warmth and cheerfulness when the staff regularly interact with the residents

Welcome to Low Furlong, our lovely purpose-built home. I am Amie I work at Low Furlong, situated just on the outskirts of the Cotswolds. Recently being appointed Acting Manager.


We provide person-centred care in our beautiful, busy, and bustling home. I have worked in care for over 20 years and truly believe that residents are at the heart of all we do. Everyone that walks through the door at Low Furlong comments on the lovely atmosphere. Low Furlong has strong links and relationships with the local community and strives to create a family feel whilst providing high quality care and a huge range of activities for residents.

Hannah Glennie-Gowers

I'm Hannah. I am the Deputy Manager at Low Furlong.


With 10 years of experience at Low Furlong, I am passionate about helping people get the most out of life and ensuring they enjoy themselves along the way. One of my proudest achievements was setting up the PCS system, contributing to Low Furlong’s outstanding CQC rating.


Outside of work, I am an avid racehorse owner, with my trainer being the renowned Donald McCain (whose father famously trained Red Rum). In my free time, I enjoy both horse racing and darts, balancing a love for competition and sport.

I’ve been a Care Team Leader for 12 years, and I truly enjoy looking after people and making a difference in their lives, especially by improving their quality of life.


One of my proudest achievements has been working in a care home rated Outstanding by CQC. I also once had the amazing experience of singing in a choir at the Royal Albert Hall.


In my spare time, I love learning inconsequential facts, going to music festivals, and watching Marvel films.
