Nestled on the outskirts of the rural town of Shipston-on-Stour, Low Furlong is a purpose-built 68 bed residential home providing excellent standards of care for older people, including those living with dementia.

An easy, 10-minute walk from the centre of this beautiful market town, Low Furlong is ideally situated with easy access to the countryside, as well as the convenience of nearby shops. With historic Stratford-upon-Avon a mere 15 minutes away by car, this well-appointed and welcoming care home enjoys the benefits of a central location but with the calm, quiet charm of semi-rural position.

As part of a modern development, Low Furlong has been planned with the needs of residents very much in mind. All bedrooms feature a very high standard of decoration, including en-suite bathrooms and pleasant views over raised flower beds - premium rooms even boast doors leading out into their own patio or the communal seating area.

Low Furlong is entirely access-friendly throughout with wide, spacious corridors contributing to the bright and airy feel, whilst still ensuring that residents of all levels of mobility can enjoy the freedom to move around in maximum comfort and safety.

The home has been thoughtfully decorated throughout with the inclusion of dementia-friendly colour schemes, as well as both quiet and 'retro' lounges - the latter featuring decoration and furniture from yesteryear, in addition to hand-picked antiques which residents are encouraged to interact with.

The innovative idea of having dedicated street names and individual room numbers allows residents to maintain a personal postage address - enabling individuals to retain their identity and independence whilst still enjoying the benefits of professional care and support.

My dad has dementia and has been here since September 2021 - it's the best thing we did for him. He is so well cared for in every aspect. Twenty-four-hour care with exceptionally caring staff that go above and beyond to look after their residents in a lovely manner. Nothing is too much trouble to keep
everyone's needs very personalised. Thank you all!

Sent to Low Furlong whilst new accommodation was found (disabled waist down) following rehab the welcome was good and quick. Due to COVID19 precautions into Rainbow Room. The room was very clean lovely outlook over patio. 1st floor. Although mainly mental health patients, it was lively and fun. The
staff are great and very attentive. I had a room with an ensuite. Facilities were spotless, indoors and communal dining. I had 6 weeks of personable rehab. A great place, I would live there anytime.

The staff have been very accommodating during this difficult year. I feel relaxed that our mum is being looked after well. She is contented, even though she has dementia and is very confused. I was extremely anxious about leaving Mum in a care home, especially during the last Covid year but my fears
have been lessened by her being in such a lovely home. All praise to the home manager and her hard-working staff.

Mum moved into Low Furlong after a stay in hospital to allow her to recover further before returning back home. She was apprehensive about staying in a care home, but the quality of facilities and excellent staff helped ease her concerns. She was made to feel welcome and received outstanding care in
a friendly, homely environment, which was both comforting and reassuring to us as a family. We cannot speak highly enough about the manager and her assistant. They went above and beyond to help Mum, and their care and support exceeded all expectations.

Feel very lucky that dad was able to move into Low Furlong. Since being at the home he has become more sociable and is very happy. The care he is receiving is excellent and they have done all they can to make him comfortable and we know he is being well looked after. This gives the whole family reassurance

My mother has been here for 12 months. I find the staffing has improved, not so many agency staff but I know this can't be helped some times. I have recommended to two other families and they have sent members of families here. The manager now was the assistant, and I find her on the ball and replies
to my emails about any queries promptly. Food was a bit changeable at one stage but seems to be bang on now. Overall it is a good plus.

The care given to my mother-in-law in the last weeks of her life has been absolutely excellent. We were unable to visit due to the present Covid restrictions but they all made sure that she was comfortable and cared for both physically and mentally during this difficult time. We cannot praise the staff
enough. Most importantly, they have kept the family informed every step of the way which in turn gave us a great deal of comfort and reassurance.

We can't speak highly enough of the quality of care that our mother is receiving at Low Furlong. The manager leads from the front in making residents feel secure, respected and loved and it's clear from the staff we've met that, the staff are chosen and supported in-line with the ethos and professionalism
of the home. Times are difficult and staff have responded accordingly, our Mum couldn't be better cared for. Nothing is too much trouble.
Sorry, we couldn't say if it is value for money as we have nothing to compare it with so among all the "excellents" there's a "don't know".

Low Furlong is a happy and caring environment looking after many different types of residents. My father is extremely comfortable being cared for by a really helpful and willing team who are so ably led by the current manageress. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and always done with a smile. The
staff are sensitive to dad’s requirements and very patient both with him and us. In these very difficult times, we are confident in their quality of care and protection, which is paramount to ensure the best safety of residents. We are very grateful for all they do and the extra mile approach so often demonstrated.

My mother has been in Low Furlong for two years. Prior to that, she was going there once or twice a week for daycare and she herself chose to become a fulltime resident as her dementia got worse. She herself always says, "nobody really wants to go into a care home but if you have to go into one, I don't
think you would find better". We did look at other care homes for our own peace of mind. Some had bottles of wine on the dinner tables, their own cinemas, and plusher decor than at Low Furlong but there was no warmth about those places and not many carers seemed to have smiles on their faces. Added to which, quite frankly, they stank (and were a lot more expensive).
Low Furlong isn't about luxury and trimmings. It's about the residents feeling safe, secure, and feeling they are at home, not in a home. I believe the manager and her staff genuinely do care about the residents and their families, they have smiles on their faces, work as a team, and make their residents feel at home.

I am so happy that my mother is at Low Furlong. The care she receives there is exemplary. The staff are friendly and caring as well as being totally professional. There is a family atmosphere at Low Furlong and I am impressed with all the activities that are organised for the residents. Although I
live a long way away, I am kept informed of what is going on by very regular updates by email and phone, and I feel I can contact the staff at any time if I have any concerns. At this perilous time for us all, I feel my mother could not be in a better place. Her physical well-being is taken care of and she is supported emotionally too. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their dedication and hard work, especially now.

We moved my mother-in-law to Low Furlong in early December; she is over 100 and very frail. We are extremely impressed and very happy with the care she is receiving. The care staff are excellent and have a very warm and responsive attitude towards the residents. The manager is outstanding, and her leadership
is reflected in the whole ethos of the care home.

Amazed at the warmth and willingness shown to residents and visitors alike. This is a happy ship inspired by the management which clearly filters through to all of the staff. Welcome to Low Furlong, our lovely purpose-built home. I am Amie I work at Low Furlong, situated just on the outskirts of the Cotswolds. Recently being appointed Acting Manager.


We provide person-centred care in our beautiful, busy, and bustling home. I have worked in care for over 20 years and truly believe that residents are at the heart of all we do. Everyone that walks through the door at Low Furlong comments on the lovely atmosphere. Low Furlong has strong links and relationships with the local community and strives to create a family feel whilst providing high quality care and a huge range of activities for residents.

Hannah Glennie-Gowers

I'm Hannah. I am the Deputy Manager at Low Furlong.


With 10 years of experience at Low Furlong, I am passionate about helping people get the most out of life and ensuring they enjoy themselves along the way. One of my proudest achievements was setting up the PCS system, contributing to Low Furlong’s outstanding CQC rating.


Outside of work, I am an avid racehorse owner, with my trainer being the renowned Donald McCain (whose father famously trained Red Rum). In my free time, I enjoy both horse racing and darts, balancing a love for competition and sport.

I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and am currently working towards my Level 5 qualification to continue growing professionally in this field. In addition to my dedication to providing excellent care, I enjoy playing rugby and running—activities that keep me active and focused.
