Nestled on the outskirts of the rural town of Shipston-on-Stour, Low Furlong is a purpose-built 68 bed residential home providing excellent standards of care for older people, including those living with dementia.

An easy, 10-minute walk from the centre of this beautiful market town, Low Furlong is ideally situated with easy access to the countryside, as well as the convenience of nearby shops. With historic Stratford-upon-Avon a mere 15 minutes away by car, this well-appointed and welcoming care home enjoys the benefits of a central location but with the calm, quiet charm of semi-rural position.

As part of a modern development, Low Furlong has been planned with the needs of residents very much in mind. All bedrooms feature a very high standard of decoration, including en-suite bathrooms and pleasant views over raised flower beds - premium rooms even boast doors leading out into their own patio or the communal seating area.

Low Furlong is entirely access-friendly throughout with wide, spacious corridors contributing to the bright and airy feel, whilst still ensuring that residents of all levels of mobility can enjoy the freedom to move around in maximum comfort and safety.

The home has been thoughtfully decorated throughout with the inclusion of dementia-friendly colour schemes, as well as both quiet and 'retro' lounges - the latter featuring decoration and furniture from yesteryear, in addition to hand-picked antiques which residents are encouraged to interact with.

The innovative idea of having dedicated street names and individual room numbers allows residents to maintain a personal postage address - enabling individuals to retain their identity and independence whilst still enjoying the benefits of professional care and support.

I have been extremely grateful that my mum has had the best care for her stay over two years. The entertainment has always been outstanding. The food too, is of restaurant quality, providing a choice and importantly nutritious. The carers are very affectionate with the residents, and they make Low Furlong
feel like a home.

My father has settled well into Low Furlong. I put this down to the excellent t0eam there who cater for his every need in a caring and professional manner. The food is great, dad likes and dislikes are considered and he looks well, better than he has been. The activities are fab and dad is encouraged

After visiting other homes, the experience left me shocked and horrified. What a relief it was to find Low Furlong, clean, bright, fresh and happy.
M husband had a lovely bright room, nicely furnished, surrounded by attentive, caring staff. He spent a week's respite, one of a further six booked and
we are very happy to know that he will be extremely well cared for by amazing staff.

As my mother has only recently gone into the care home, the staff are always ready to explain the options available to her and to answer my questions and concerns. As my mother is starting to show signs of dementia, their support and understanding is invaluable. Her personal care plan is reviewed and
adapted as my mother expresses her needs and wishes. This is a home that sees my mother as an individual and cares for her with respect and consideration despite her sometimes very difficult behaviour.

From the initial telephone call, the support and care received has been professional and truly caring. Leaving my Father for the first time to give very much needed respite for my Mother was an anxious time. I called several times and was given sensitive reports which showed they were really taking
time with Dad and getting to know him. On visiting Dad, he could not have been happier and proudly showed me around the home, his room and the lovely sunny patio, all of which were immaculate. At the end of my visit, Dad's words were 'it is so lovely here, I would be happy to come anytime'. I don't think I could ask for more! Thank you all.

A beautiful facility in Shipston-on-Stour. Low Furlong is providing a lovely and safe environment for my husband who has dementia and mobility problems. The care is first rate and the residents are treated with dignity and respect. The rooms are light and airy and nicely furnished as are all the public
rooms. A programme of entertainments and activities are in place for those who wish to take part. A lovely, well-managed care home.

There was a management change during mothers stay which may have had an effect during the initial transition, the new manager is efficient. More provision for activities more routine time for simple stimulation, colouring, simple jigsaws/wooden children's puzzles.

My mum became a resident of Low Furlong on April 10th '18, after a 2 1/2 week stay in hospital, she was still very frail. Now 3 weeks later, after much kindness and care from all members of the staff, she is feeling more settled, she is alert and is strong enough to join other residents in the dining
room in her wheelchair. She is still confused and feels strange, but she knows she is safe and that someone is always there with a smile and a cheerful word. My brothers, my sister and I are all VERY THANKFUL for Low Furlong.

In a brave and difficult decision to enter a care home at the age of 101, my Father has been treated with kindness and dignity. Every attempt has been made to make him comfortable and 'at home' whilst enabling him to remain independent and in charge of his own decisions and choices. All staff are cheerful
and pleasant at all times and there are so many thoughtful touches that make the place a lovely community in which my Father has been welcomed and valued.

We are very impressed by the level of care provided at Low Furlong. The staff and management are genuinely caring and treat all residents with dignity and respect. Our mother moved to Low Furlong after a previous traumatic care home experience and we are so grateful to have found such a caring home.
It's clear that the staff and management have a good understanding of Dementia, and residents are treated as individuals with individual needs. Thanks to the caring attitude and expertise of both management and staff alike, mum has settled in quickly and is happy. There is real family atmosphere at the home, and it's such a relief to know that Mum is in safe hands and looked after by people who really care and understand her needs.

The care provided for my mother was absolutely fabulous. The carers were all extremely professional but also very courteous, friendly and caring - they could never do enough for either my mum who was in their care and for us, her relatives when we visited mum. The atmosphere in the home is very friendly
and very relaxed. It is a lovely care home and couldn't have wished to find a better home for our mother.

Overall, I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving - however, due to my mother's deterioration and her incontinent needs, I feel she requires more than 1 shower a week to meet her personal care needs.

Having spent a very emotional weekend supporting my husband's grandma during her final few days, I was extremely impressed with the care and compassion of everyone working at the care home. Nothing was too much bother for them and always happy to help. They helped support all of our family during a
very difficult time and showed empathy at any given time. I would highly recommend Low Furlong - our grandma was very happy here. They made her final months special! Thank you.

This is no normal care home - the staff here are second to none, the home itself is beautifully designed and furnished and the atmosphere is wonderful. On the several occasions I've visited my Grandma I have found the care home to be extremely clean and tidy and nothing is ever out of place making the standards outstanding! Not to mention all the members of staff are attentive, caring, hardworking, proactive and a joy to watch helping my grandma. They

My Mum settled at Low Furlong very quickly and with surprising ease which is the testament to how well the residents are cared for. Within two weeks she was happy to stay and after three weeks is very positive that it is the right place for her. Her room to which she has her own front door is bright
and warm with a lovely shower room ensuite. Since becoming a resident her mobility has improved as has her general health. She takes part in activities of which there is a good variety with the encouragement of the staff. All the staff are very friendly and treat my Mum with the respect she deserves and I have no concerns about her care. I am always made welcome when I visit and feel comfortable in what is a caring environment.

Low Furlong is a lovely home for elderly people requiring help of many kinds. The staff are cheerful and caring and you feel that the residents are in safe hands. Certainly, my mother has in better health there than she has been for quite a while. There seems to be a good atmosphere throughout with
good interaction between staff and with the residents. I would have no hesitation in recommending Low Furlong.

Welcome to Low Furlong, our lovely purpose-built home. I am Amie I work at Low Furlong, situated just on the outskirts of the Cotswolds. Recently being appointed Acting Manager.


We provide person-centred care in our beautiful, busy, and bustling home. I have worked in care for over 20 years and truly believe that residents are at the heart of all we do. Everyone that walks through the door at Low Furlong comments on the lovely atmosphere. Low Furlong has strong links and relationships with the local community and strives to create a family feel whilst providing high quality care and a huge range of activities for residents.

Hannah Glennie-Gowers

I'm Hannah. I am the Deputy Manager at Low Furlong.


With 10 years of experience at Low Furlong, I am passionate about helping people get the most out of life and ensuring they enjoy themselves along the way. One of my proudest achievements was setting up the PCS system, contributing to Low Furlong’s outstanding CQC rating.


Outside of work, I am an avid racehorse owner, with my trainer being the renowned Donald McCain (whose father famously trained Red Rum). In my free time, I enjoy both horse racing and darts, balancing a love for competition and sport.

I’m in the process of moving to Shipston and look forward to starting a new chapter there. Outside of work, I enjoy walking my dog, Teddy, who keeps me company on many of my adventures. I’m known for my ever-changing hair, which I like to switch up weekly—right now, it’s bright pink!

I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and am currently working towards my Level 5 qualification to continue growing professionally in this field. In addition to my dedication to providing excellent care, I enjoy playing rugby and running—activities that keep me active and focused.
