My precious grandmother saw out her final days here at this outstanding care home. The care she received was as if the staff were caring for their own grandmother. She was treated with the utmost dignity. Staff sat with my grandmother during the night, nothing was ever too much trouble. Even down to
the fine detail of getting her back from the hospital, management phoned the hospital to liaise a return time. This reduced stress for my mother. When my grandmother arrived, her clothes were hung up ready for her and the pillows around her head had been carefully placed.

The home is set in beautiful grounds and gives a home from home feel.
For a granddaughter that thought/thinks the world of her grandmother and found it difficult to comprehend that she would never be coming home, this care home made it easier to accept. I cannot thank them enough.

When my mother-in-law had to go into a care home, I visited 3 around the area, Salford House had a very warm, friendly feeling and I was made to feel very welcome. I didn't have to choose, the decision was made for me.
Mother-in-law took six months to settle but then it was like home to home. She is
happy, loves the staff and it is lovely to see how they treat her and the friendships she has made. She is treated with respect and dignity. Her care and hygiene is of a high standard. She enjoys the activities, singing, bingo, "old times" games and they also celebrate special occasions, birthdays, religious days and parties. They also accommodate her fussy eating habits. The staff are very attentive, courteous, caring, respectful and emphatic to my mother-in-law. I would like to thank them for all they do for us.

My 97-year-old great aunt moved into Salford House in October 2016 after a stay in hospital and couldn't return home. Lovely friendly staff but her favourite is the activities co-ordinatior as she makes her laugh and keeps her budgie fed and clean.
She likes the meals. They are all freshly cooked
and she has a choice except for the porridge which she says is lumpy so now has ready brek instead.
She has made some friends and is never lonely.
We are allowed to visit whenever we wish and always get offered tea or coffee. The manager is always on hand should you wish to speak to him.
Overall, we are very happy as she is well cared for and always clean and tidy.

My father has been a resident at Salford House since January 2016. After suffering a stroke which meant that he could not live independently. The home is clean, bright and homely. The staff are warm, friendly and caring. My father has a single room which is large enough for chairs, tv, hi-fi etc and
has a wash basin. When we visit it is always clean and tidy. My father is always dressed in clean clothes and happy. My father has settled in well considering such a major upheaval. We are happy he is safe in professional care.

My family, dad, 3 brothers and respective daughter in law have been more than happy with the caring, consideration and empathy shown during my mother's stay at Salford. Her rapid decline from Alzheimer's was harrowing to witness and we are thankful that she passed away at Salford House where her needs
and all of us were given great consideration.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.483) out of 10 for Salford House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for Salford House is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.525 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Salford House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.4

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
