My mum came to Sebright in 2022 until she passed away in January 2025.
As a family, we have been so happy with everything in Sebright from the warm welcome to the cleanliness of the home, the food and activities but most importantly the professionalism and care that our mum received from everyone who
had a part to play in caring for her. We feel very lucky that Mum stayed in such an exceptional home towards the end of her life and we noticed how well she looked too.
We can't thank enough everyone who works here and am extremely grateful for the wonderful care she received. Thank you.

My husband moved to Sebright from hospital in 2022, when his vascular dementia got the better of us all and we could no longer cope at home. The care he received there was second to none and all the staff treated him with compassion, calmness and care, looking after his every need at all times. They
always informed us of any change, however small, and kept him happy and settled throughout his time there. When he passed away in May 2024, they could not have been kinder. While dementia is a very cruel condition, all the staff at Sebright made my husband's last two years as good as they could possibly be. Thank you Sebright.

Outstanding care team who anticipate patients' needs brilliantly. My husband is well looked after with an honest sincerity of care for his comfort and well-being and especially personal care and welfare.
Brought a former CQC inspector yesterday who is my husband's cousin and she was so relieved that
Sebright is as great a home as I had told her but naturally wanted to see for herself; she was thrilled.
Many thanks to the many staff very well led by a particular member of staff who provide the best in the tragic circumstances.
God Bless you all.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a glowing review about the care your husband is receiving at Sebright House. We are delighted to hear that you feel the care team is anticipating his needs so well and providing him with outstanding personal care and attention to his comfort and well-being. It's wonderful that your husband's cousin, who used to be a CQC inspector, was able to visit and see firsthand the high quality of care we provide. Her professional seal of approval after her visit must have been very reassuring for you. We're thrilled she came away with such a positive impression. Our staff works tirelessly to create a supportive, compassionate environment for all our residents during what can be very difficult circumstances. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words of appreciation to the whole care team - they will be overjoyed to know they have made such a positive impact.

My mother has been a resident of the Sebright house since November last year.
I can not begin to express my feelings towards the care and support the staff are giving to my mum. She is a 91-year-old dementia patient who could not do anything when she arrived at the home. Thanks to the care of nurses,
carers and everyone around her, she is very happy and well. She is always clean and cared for. The centre is full of kind and caring staff. Always welcoming and warm - nothing is too much for them. It’s always clean and friendly. They became my extended family, and I am very thankful. The manager and all the staff are angels sent from up above.
Thank you.

Had to move my father in February after two years in another home, did not have a lot of choices and was extremely concerned about both the move and the home. Although only there two months, the improvement in Dad was amazing; the manager and her staff are the best in the business, they got Dad up,
dressed, shaved and sitting in the lounge every day, kept me informed of everything happening and Dad looked ten years younger and settled well. I cannot praise the staff highly enough and am so very grateful for their care and kindness during his final months - just wish I'd moved him much earlier.
My family's thanks and appreciation are boundless.

My friend went into Sebright after taking him out of Bromson Hill care home. The staff and management were amazing; they turned my friend around, getting him out of bed and socialising with other residents eating and drinking again and generally taking great care of him.

Reply from Ravi Patel, CEO at Sebright House

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Sebright House. I am so pleased that you saw an improvement in your friend's well-being. At Sebright House, they try hard to maintain a service user's social contact as they recognise what an important role this plays in overall health and well-being. It is nice to see that your friend enjoyed the simple yet so important pleasure of eating and drinking well.
I will ensure that the manager and staff are aware that you took the time to give them praise and a positive review, as reviews such as yours give a boost to staff working hard to care for our service users.

My husband, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, was sent to Seabright straight from the hospital for assessment. At the time, I had been very seriously ill, undergoing major surgery, but it was always my intention to place my husband in a home in my village once I had recovered. However, after
seeing the amazing care, consideration and dedication given by the lovely staff at Seabright, the general cleanliness and attention given to the personal care of the residents, I decided to leave my husband in their care.
Without exception, all the staff from top to bottom, including the nurses, gardener, cook, cleaners and activities coordinator, treat the residents with compassion and respect sometimes in challenging situations. The manager keeps me informed on every aspect of my husband's needs and condition and is always welcoming to the resident's visitors.

My father moved to Sebright during the summer from a residential home.
The standard of care goes above and beyond what I'd previously experienced.
Dad was very unsettled when he first moved, and I was very concerned as it took months to settle at the previous home. After a week he seemed less agitated.
The
manager and staff know how to deal with advanced Alzheimer's. They are always smiling, so caring, and very calm, no matter what challenges are thrown at them. The team have worked very hard with some of Dad's challenging behaviour.
Dad arrived at the home with one-to-one in place, and within two months, it was no longer required during the day. This is a testament to the manager and her team.
The manager has employed a fantastic competent team. I am regularly updated about medication and any concerns they may have.
Dad is settled and is in the best place for this stage in his life.

We have been delighted to see how settled and well looked after Dad is. The care is very personal, and staff have helped him settle in after a difficult period in the hospital. The staff keep in contact with me and my family, which is appreciated.

Coming from a service industry, I feel I speak from experience when I say that the manager and all of the caring staff within Sebright are as good as they get and something that should all be super proud of.
Their helpfulness, understanding and information sharing with me and my family is a huge reassurance,
and nothing ever appears too much trouble.
I now know most of the Sebright staff that I come into contact with by name and note that they are always polite, upbeat, friendly and eager to assist.
I could not recommend their services or quality of care more.

Our mum was sent to Sebright House after a long stay in the hospital, as she needed 24-hour care. Initially, we weren't happy, mainly because we'd had a very bad experience with previous care companies. But, we needn't have worried. I had a long chat with the manager, who listened to my concerns, answered
all my questions and helped put my fears to rest. Every time I visited (often with just 10 mins' notice), the place was always clean, and all the residents looked clean and calm (it was rare to see anyone seeming distressed). Whenever the staff interacted with the residents, they were so kind and gentle. Mum was clearly well cared for while she was there. We saw photos of her taking part in activities. She actually seemed to improve after she arrived there, at least until her dementia got worse. Even towards the end, you could tell she was being well treated. After Mum died, the staff were lovely. Some of them even came to the funeral. This is a good place.

Reply from Ravi Patel, CEO at Sebright House

Firstly, would you please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your mum.
Secondly, can I thank you for your very positive review, - I will ensure that the staff are aware of your comments as it is so important for them to know how you appreciated them.
We value all reviews of Sebright House; however, reviews such as yours not only give myself and all the staff a sense of pride but also help other people whose loved ones require a care placement to feel confident and reassured about the home.
Once again, thank you.

My dad has been at Sebright House for the past four months, and we are very happy with the standard of care he has received whilst there.
The staff have been kind, respectful and professional every step of the way so far in caring for dad.
There is a culture of openness, and we have always felt welcome
when visiting. The staff are very approachable and always find the time to talk to us. I would say the level of communication is excellent.
Dad is calmer and content since being in an environment where his needs are understood. As a family, we are so relieved to have found such a caring home-from-home for him.

Having complex needs and dementia, my wife was sent to Sebright from hospital for an assessment. At the CHC review, Sebright gave a very upbeat report on how she had improved and had put on weight. However, I was not allowed to visit. During her hospital stay, she was weak and frail to which the NHS
staff were frank and truthful in their feedback to which I was allowed to visit. The only time Sebright contacted me was when they wanted something. Unfortunately, my wife had a chest infection to which Sebright never contacted me. In the early hours of the morning, my wife passed away in her sleep. It was not until I visited Sebright early next morning did I get the truth from the staff on how ill and frail she was while at the home to which I was denied the chance to say goodbye to her and not allowed for her son and grandson a chance to visit. They then were pressing me into arranging for her body to be collected by a funeral director. At the time I was in shock. When I went to collect my wife's possessions, I had other people's possessions.

Reply from Ravi Patel, CEO at Sebright House

Firstly we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to you for your loss.
Last year has been difficult for the whole nation and we at Sebright have had to take unprecedented actions to keep all service users safe.
Your wife did come to Sebright on D2A basis. She was frail but in the calmer home setting, she was improving and had gained weight. She was doing so well, that the CHC asked you to look for a permanent care home for her.
Goodbye: If the passing had been expected then you would have allowed to visit.
Funeral directors: Unfortunately your wife's body had to be moved before the days end and you had to make this difficult decision.
Possessions: The hospital had sent us a box of possessions that was eventually passed on to you. We understand how upsetting it must have been to find someone else’s possession.
When 'visiting restrictions' are lifted we would love you to visit Sebright and meet staff who cared for her and also speak to other families who have been visiting for many years.

Staff were very friendly, caring, approachable and attentive to our mother's needs. We felt that she was treated with dignity, care and respect and staff did everything to meet her medical needs during the seven weeks through January and February that she was with them before passing away. We are
all very grateful for what everyone did for Mum, not just the care staff, but all staff who work there. They also showed great concern for us as we sat with her in her final days.

My wife was sent to Sebright from the hospital for six weeks. During her stay, I witnessed staff dealing with very demanding and challenging behaviours. They handed every occasion with great effort. They were very professional and caring in every respect. They are all a credit to the care industry.
Equally, the management were also so good and approachable.

My sister was suffering from dementia. She was admitted to hospital in April 2019. From there she was admitted to Sebright House. Sebright House was the most appropriate to her needs. They were excellent in their care and understanding of my sister’s needs. The manager was very understanding and supportive
throughout my sister’s stay there.

The staff are great; very friendly, patient and caring of the individual. Without fail they spoke to dad and were trying to build a relationship with him. Also very warm towards us, offering drinks and biscuits and chatting about how dad had settled in. The only downside is the size of the bedroom.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.108)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.108) out of 10 for Sebright House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.983 for Sebright House is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.983

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sebright House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
