My mother has been a resident for a number of years following several falls. Although her physical health is generally good she is no longer able to stand or move about on her own. The staff have been excellent in looking after her given the current situation.

The Hawthorns is a fantastic place for an elderly relative to stay in for respite care. The staff are so lovely and caring towards the residents. They encourage the residents to help themselves wherever possible, but are still happy to do anything that the resident feels is beyond their capability.
They are always available to take the time to update you on your family members situation. The room is lovely, clean and welcoming, and includes a small en-suite too. The meals are very good and there is always a choice available. The lounges are clean and welcoming, and there is a lovely conservatory in which to watch the outside world go by. There are also activities to take part in if you wish too. I would recommend this to anyone as a great place for your elderly relatives.

Reassurance on security starts at the front door with the sign in, bell call and staff welcome to this well-organised, lovely and clean home.
Carers always know in which attractive day room my mother is and how she is. My mother always looks clean and well cared for (supported by specialised bathrooms
and staff who care with dignity). My mother is invariably comfortably positioned in a high backed armchair on a pressure relief cushion with an activity in full swing. Every day a fruit platter is offered am and pm, tea/coffee/juice and a range of biscuits. Carers are constantly in evidence, supporting residents with varying needs. At meal times, residents are most kindly and effectively assisted into the beautiful dining room. Food is varied, looks and smells appealing. Recently my mother has not been well. The care and management team have worked diligently-promptly organising GP visits, medication, giving more care/attention and an alternative bedroom. This was to support her ergonomically, her failing spirits and to give us the opportunity to use the upper floor lounge and kitchenette with her.

On the whole, I find The Hawthorns very nice and the staff very helpful. The residents seem well fed and kept nice and warm (sometimes his bedroom seems cold).
My dad seems to have settled down to what he was which is a big help to the family so hopefully, he will come to accept that he has to be here.

I did quite a lot of research before deciding to have my father go into this nursing home. One year in and I remain impressed by the quality of care he is receiving. Care homes are not created equal. The Hawthorns is a cut above the rest.

The Hawthorns is a very clean and comfortable place for my mum. All the staff including cleaners and kitchen staff are all friendly and very approachable. The facilities are excellent. My mum has a lovely room that overlooks The Serpentine and she has her own washing/toilet facilities. There is a lovely
dining and living room for the residents. They can eat what they like, there is always a good choice of menu. The care staff are excellent and have the patience of a saint.
