Richmond Care Home, in Shirebrook, is located within the residential area of Recreation Road. The home is conveniently located for local shops and the town centre. Set within half an acre of land, Richmond Care Home offers peaceful surroundings, with ample car parking for visitors.

The 40-bedroom home offers warm and comfortable accommodation to residential clients, including those living with dementia. Every room has its own en suite facility which includes a WC and washbasin.

Each bedroom at Richmond Care Home is fully furnished to a high standard and is equipped with a call-bell system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. There are many options for bathing including assisted bathrooms and shower rooms, with roll in and roll out showers/wet rooms. One of which has a bath that is fitted with a manual hoist and one with a fully electric hoist, for ease of bathing.

Richmond Care Home has a vibrant activities schedule, for those residents wishing to participate. This includes arts, crafts, baking, letter writing, music and pampering sessions. The care home frequently holds seasonal events and regularly welcomes local baby and toddler groups, and pet therapy groups to the home. On-site facilities include a hairdressing salon and a big screen for film viewings. Outings are regularly arranged in Shirebrook and the surrounding area for those wishing to spend time outside of the home.

Dad has been a resident in the Richmond Care Home since January 2020.
It was a very difficult decision to make initially but we have found all the staff extremely helpful and caring which has helped Dad settle in really well especially during these unprecedented times.
Although we haven’t been able
to visit Dad recently it is so reassuring to know that we can pick up the phone and speak to any one of the management for help/guidance. Cannot thank them enough.

I have been visiting Auntie for some time now, last visited in March, just before the COVID lockdown. I love the feel of this care home when you walk in. It's bright, open and there is no "old" smell apparent when you walk in, it makes a difference. The rooms are bright and modern, laminate floors
for cleanliness and there is always something going on. The activities coordinator is fantastic, she has so many lovely ideas to entertain the residents. I love the old part of the building, but there are some extensions of course. Can always smell the clean laundry through the tumble dryer vents as you walk towards the exterior door - a nice smell that you get to recognise as being part of this home. I would recommend to anyone, I would say it's one of the best I've been in. Love the residents and they all seem happy and settled. Not seen the bedrooms but they look lovely from the photos. Could be a little out of the way for some people without transport but easy enough to find.

This is a fantastic place for my mum to live. My mum has Alzheimers and she is treated with dignity and care. She's always got a smile on her face and love's being there. With the breakout of COVID-19 all of the staff have gone above and beyond their duty to look after every one of the residents and
themselves. I can't thank them enough for looking after my mum the way they do and the way they have had to over the pandemic. Great manager and deputy manager who has equally got great staff. Once again thank you for everything you all do.

Mum has been a resident in Richmond for a good spell. At first, having been her carer for a long time, I was reluctant and nervous when she was forced to go into care.
I couldn't have chosen a better home for her. The home is well managed and the staff are hard-working and caring.

My mum is a resident at Richmond House and before coming to stay she was very withdrawn and depressed. Within a few months, she settled well and as time goes by she is transformed back to how she used to be many years ago. I think this is due to the chance to socialise with a wide range of people and
from being looked after by a team of people that genuinely care and take pride in the care home and all it represents. The staff go that extra mile to put a smile on their residents' faces and make their resident's home a comfortable and happy place to live in. Thank you for all of the hard work it means the world to me to know my mum is safe and happy.

My mum who is a resident has dual dementia and the care and support Richmond give us 5-star treatment. The rooms are excellent and the freshly cooked meals are excellent. All the staff are friendly and helpful and the care home manager is very friendly and helpful.

The staff at Richmond are very caring and go out of their way to make everyone welcome. I dreaded Mam going into a care home but it was the best decision I ever made. She was treated with dignity at all times and it really became home to her with the staffs' exceptional care (all staff from cleaners
to handymen). The Richmond is clean and food is very good and lovely bedrooms. Thank you, Richmond.

The whole staff team were supportive and encouraging, my personal needs both physical health and mental health were met.
My stay was over the festive season, and activities took place, the proactive approach by staff members made it a pleasant atmosphere, and the local community was also involved
which both young and old enjoyed it.
As in any residential setting the backbone of any establishment is the domestic service, nothing was any problem, and things were dealt with professionally and quickly.
Staff also asked for my thoughts, opinions or views on the service they're providing, adding value and giving me a voice, towards the kind of care I received.
Most welcomed the feedback.
Difficulties which arose, whatever it was, quickly addressed, making me feel cared for and safe.


Dignity is a personal interpretation, everyone has different needs and understandings.
Staff actively took great care in ensuring that individuals care included Dignity.

I couldn't choose just one thing, I love everything about my job, especially knowing that I and my team are making sure all of our residents have full bellies. That makes my day!

I love to spend my spare time with my friends and family.

Make sure you look around and speak to staff and other people who have connections with the home. Not forgetting to read all reviews, it's a big decision!

I love being able to do what I enjoy, cooking! Also, I've really enjoyed being able to get to know our residents.


What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?


I spend lots of time with my family outside of work and of course cooking for them. I'm also a frequent visitor to rock gigs with my friends too!


If you could give prospective resident and their family a bit of advice for choosing a suitable home for their loved ones, what would it be?


My one piece of advice would be this, find a home with staff like ours. Staff that treat your loved ones like part of their own family.

I love hearing all the stories, sitting and chatting with our residents learning all about them and their lives is easily my favourite thing about my job!


What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?


In my free time, I love being outside and taking my dog Dolly on walks. I also spend a lot of time with my family and socialising with friends, we love going out for meals and trying new places to eat!


If you could give prospective resident and their family a bit of advice for choosing a suitable home for their loved ones, what would it be?


My advice would be don't settle, read all the available reviews and information and make sure that you are choosing somewhere that not only fits the needs of your loved one but somewhere that is suitable for them to enjoy living too!
