I have nothing but praise for Nethermoor. My father went in initially for respite as he had deteriorated quickly with Alzheimer's and had worryingly lost weight.
The hardest decision to make was when I realised he needed help and support 24/7, the team at Nethermoor supported me and they did just that.
The care and welcome he received to help him settle was astounding. Prior to him going into Nethermoor he couldn't recall anything, his family, where he lived, and seemed not to have any interest or involvement with anyone, which was so upsetting to see. Within a few days, he was laughing, and singing and began to recall his younger days and for the first time in 3 years spoke proudly about his love and the happy times he enjoyed with his wife, (who had sadly passed away 3 yrs ago). He has gained weight, eats and drinks well and his complexion and smile have returned. This is only down to the personal care, time and dedication of a wonderful team of staff. So a massive heartfelt Thank you.

As a retired nurse, having worked in care homes in the past, I chose very carefully when I needed a home to look after my lovely Dad for me due to the progression of his Alzheimer's. I chose Nethermoor first and foremost for the Staff and their attitude towards the residents. My Dad had a terrific sense
of humour and I'd never heard so much laughter in a care home before, coming from both residents and staff! So, I decided there and then, this was the home to suit Dad. He's lived there for 3 years until July 2017, when he lost his battle against this awful disease. The Staff looked after him so well in all this time. They chatted, laughed and even sang with him daily. He called it his "Home from home" and was really happy, even though he didn't know where he was. He loved his food and they fed him well, even giving him a second or even third breakfast when he thought he hadn't eaten at all. They were so caring with him, right through to his very last day. Neither of us could have asked for any more.

I have attended in person every event scheduled by Nethermoor and have always been extremely impressed by the level of care given by the staff on every occasion. I am also pleased with a number of events arranged, I believe no more are needed. I can think of no way things can be improved except that
if I were to be pushed on the matter I would suggest more staff be provided.

The home is dated and the décor is dark and unwelcoming. The room my husband stayed in had no en- suite. Carpet in the lounge had stale food and stains on it. I had to request that my husband be transferred from his wheelchair to an armchair.

I tried to keep my husband at home because I love him dearly, but I was so tired. He is a lovely man and I miss him. He is in a lovely home and seems very settled. The people who care for him are very good carers. I go as often as I can. My daughter takes me to visit him but she also works and she looks
after me too.
