Mum says it is like living in a five-star hotel! All staff are very sociable and happy to discuss Mum's situation and any concerns without a problem. Much better now we can visit again without an appointment etc. Let's hope it stays that way! Thank you.

My mother has been living at West Hallam Care Home for around a year. She went in quite poorly, underweight and depressed, now she's very happy and eating well. The staff are very caring to my mother and always welcome me when I visit my mother. It's lovely to see my mother smiling and happy living
there. She thoroughly enjoys going on trips with the staff.

From the second Dad moved in, he's been at home where the care has been exemplary and nothing has been too much trouble. From the junior staff to senior leadership the message and care have been exceptional. Many times I have worried whether something is being done, only to be told that it's already
in hand. Such a relief to know he is being well looked after - thank you, everyone!

Mum moving to residential care was the hardest decision ever, many tears were shed when I left her there, especially due to the Covid restrictions. But the staff have been amazing in helping Mum settle, getting to know her personality, likes and dislikes. Whilst also taking time to support our family
to get through what has been a traumatic time for us.
Staff help her with phone and video calls and often send videos of what Mum has been doing during the day, it’s great to see her laughing and singing. Carers helped Mum write cards on my birthday and after a particularly difficult visit to see Mum the staff arranged for her to give me flowers and a card the next time I visited.
Mum is always clean and well presented, with nails painted and as her great-grandson says ‘'mama has no whiskers’, this attention to her care is very reassuring. Her room is beautiful, staff are always available to talk through any concerns or fill us in on what mum has been doing. An amazing team.

My review is written during the most challenging of covid-19. West Hallam is run by the most amazing carers you could ever wish for. They go above and beyond to care for and love my father and all the residents at great risk to themselves and their families during this pandemic. My father is very happy
and feels safe at West Hallam, although misses seeing personally myself and my brother and family. I only hope visiting can be resumed in a safe 'covid-safe' space erected by the owners of the group or at least supply an IPad for video calls!

Resident for respite and still in care owing to lockdown. Cannot comment on several options owing to the situation of my aunt being in respite care.

My mum went in for a weeks respite, all the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, they all did over and above what was expected of them to make sure Mum had a pleasant stay. Also, their caring attitude to other residents was evident, I would highly recommend West Hallam Care Home.

Lively, friendly atmosphere. Residents needs and preferences are at the centre of all decisions and actions. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff. Relatives are made welcome and encouraged to join in the activities.

Staff are very good to excellent. In some cases outstanding. The only critique I have is by opening up the unit, it now has lost its individuality and can be described as a "waiting room" and/or a corridor. I know some staff don't like it and say it was better when the unit was more closed - more cosy
and what the one to one unit requires is near to be achieved, than how it is now. Safety is halved by not allowing this to be a "standalone" unit. There is only one door secure from the outside and that is not hard for a resident to see the sequence. Cost effective, so doubtful. That is why I have marked management down. Don't call them service users, horrible term - Depersonalised.

Mum has been at West Hallam for about 1 and a half years. She is really settled. Her room is always nice and the staff are all lovely. She has her hair done and her nails which she loves and there is good entertainment to occupy her. The staff are more like family to her now, she is never lonely. She
enjoys her meals and they will give you whatever you want.
