Mum has been here since July 2024. She was made to feel welcome straight away. She is well cared for, safe and warm. Medical issues are dealt with immediately. She loves the meals and looks so much healthier now.

I am very happy with Mum's care at The Pavilion. She is warm and secure and enjoys her time here. Whenever anything medical occurs it is dealt with as soon as possible and I am updated with progress of it. The staff are friendly and are helpful and will help if Mum asks.

My mum has been in the Pavilion Care Centre in Buxton since May 2024. The staff have all been supportive in their efforts in looking after her. She is always clean and the food is good. Her dementia is such that she doesn't know where she is or how to get out of a room even. But the staff have been
wonderful. Well done Pavilion Care Centre.

Obviously I was very nervous about my mum going into a care home but I didn't need to worry. She has had/developed a new quality of life since being there. She loves the residents and the staff like family. She is more awake, reading and interested in all the activities. Her room duplicates her home
with photos, pictures etc. The staff go above and beyond to care. It's a wonderful place and as my mum says she's so happy there.

The staff are absolutely excellent, caring, kind and respectful of the dignity of the residents. The management is brilliant at keeping everyone informed and dealing with medical needs as they arise. The residents have regular entertainment sessions, and it is wonderful to see them remembering and becoming
animated and engaged. I have been absolutely thrilled with how well my mum has settled in; it really does feel like a family home, and as a visitor, I always feel welcomed as part of the family.

My mother chose this care home for my stepfather, which is why I chose it for her when the time came. The main and lasting experience I have of this care home is the excellent communication I receive from the staff. Thank you all for keeping me as well informed as I would expect and more about my mother's
care. If I had to make any recommendations, it would be to be a little more vigilant about security. Every time I visit I am always made to feel welcome and included.

My mother is well cared for and is always clean and dressed nicely. She enjoys her meals and appreciates the fresh fruit provided. I'm really impressed with how quickly any medical conditions are dealt with and how the family are kept informed. The staff are friendly and as a visitor, I always feel
welcome. Mum takes part in the activities and special enlarged bingo cards have been provided as she is unable to see very well which she is very pleased with!

The care home always appears clean, tidy and well managed. All the staff are very courteous to my wife and I when we visit. They are respectful and considerate of my father's needs and work in a professional manner. My dad has been at the home now for almost twelve months and he always seems to be happy
and content. On the experience I have witnessed so far, I can strongly recommend the Pavilion Care Centre.

My uncle is extremely well cared for, he is very happy at The Pavilion Care Home. He has been a resident for five years. He now sees the home and staff there as part of his family. He is loved by all in a very caring and pleasant environment. The home is perfectly situated for outings to the Opera House
and Pavilion Gardens which he enjoys. We are very grateful and would highly recommend.

My mother has been at Pavilion Care Centre for nearly four years. In that time, the staff have been excellent in all ways from checking on her needs to just talking to her. The home is always warm and the food is good. If there are any issues with mum, they keep me informed. I could not ask for any
more. Mum is also happy there referring it as "my home".

Reply from Jill Andrew, Regional Manager at Pavilion Care Centre

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.183)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.183) out of 10 for Pavilion Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.583 for Pavilion Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.583

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pavilion Care Centre is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
