My mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2014, and came to Elvaston Lodge in the March of 2015, she resided there until her death in July 2019. Throughout her stay at Elvaston Lodge, mum was absolutely loved and cared for by the staff at the home. They were understanding and practical with
her deteriorating physical and mental state and looked for ways to keep mum engaged. The home has a good relationship with the local primary school, and mum particularly loved it when the children came to visit.
Mum always remarked on the food at the home, on how excellent it was; and her constant comment was how lovely everyone was at the home.
Mum developed pneumonia in the last few weeks of her life, and Elvaston provided excellent end of life care, ensuring her needs were met whilst maintaining her dignity. All of the staff who looked after mum showed the utmost care and compassion.

Elvaston Lodge is in a lovely position, the residents can look out to a small park on one side and primary school playgrounds on the other side.
The security and cleanliness are very noticeable on entry. The staff are most caring and competent a sign of good management. Rooms are large with en-suite.
The food is superb with that home cooked quality. Doctors and nurses make regular visits. Entertainment is also provided. A well-run home due to the excellent staff.

Mum has been in Elvaston Lodge for 14 months now and I have no hesitation to recommend this home. I find everyone from the management to the carers friendly, caring and very polite, looking after Mum excellently.

I can highly recommend Elvaston Lodge. On entering the building it is calm and inviting. The residents' rooms are all decorated to a high standard with each room offering a TV point, wardrobe and dressing table and en-suite washing facilities. All of the staff are kind patient and caring and ensure
all of the residents' needs are met. Each floor offers a lounge and the ground floor has access to a garden. The meals look fantastic and all have a home cooked appeal with real gravy and puddings with custard. The staff ensure all aspects of the residents' health and happiness are their first priority and GP or hospital appointments are organised as and when required. With an on-site hair salon, visits from the chiropodist and manicurist the residents are able to maintain a high level of self-care. There is much more I could write but overall our family are really happy and impressed with the care provided and would highly recommend Elvaston Lodge.

The staff are excellent, they show great patience and have a great rapport with my dad.
Food is great too and staff always appear to go out of their way to prepare something else if requested.

I have found the staff employed at Elvaston Lodge to be friendly and helpful at all times. There are some staff who I am not allowed to name that stand out as excellent carers. I do however think that at times the staffing level is insufficient. There are regular activities for the residents but I would
like to see more outings arranged.
The home is generally clean but the garden area is sometimes scruffy with cigarette disposal facilities left unemptied for several days. The meals offered appear to be of a good standard. I am concerned however about the ease with which personal possessions go missing. Clothes and shoes being mislaid is understandable but recently we have lost a table lamp and a digibox for the TV!
In the last year, I have found the management of the home to be of a very high standard.

We have an employee of the month system in place so please do vote for a carer on your next visit (the winner receives a day off on full pay!) I am sorry that you sometimes think that our staffing levels are insufficient. Our staffing is measured by our residents dependency although of course sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances which can take staff away from the floor whilst they attend to this. As I am sure you have noticed we do occasionally use an agency to cover staff sickness and try to use only a few of their carers to keep continuity for our residents. Now that the weather is drying up and we have finished decorating the hallways of the home, we will be focusing on tidying and brightening up our garden area. Apologies once again for the missing items. If you come into the office next time you are in, we can look at how to rectify the issue.
