I just wanted to say that my mum has been at Curtis Weston House for over 3 years and passed away this month. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care they have given to my mum and the support they have given to us as a family. They have been amazing and I do not think I could have survived
it all without them.
All my love to the staff.

I am always completely amazed at how clean, warm and welcoming Curtis Weston House is. All the staff are approachable and will work with you regarding the care for your loved one.
Yes sometimes things are not perfect, but, have given 5 stars as the care and compassion is faultless and for me that
outweighs any minor issues. Which I hasten to add, have never been about the care and are always sorted.
We are going through a very challenging time at the moment, but I have no qualms about leaving her in their care.

Our grandad moved to Curtis Weston House after a bout of pneumonia. Grandad ended up staying permanently. The management and staff have been the kindest, professional in their approach and treated grandad and other residents like they were family. Unfortunately grandad passed away at the home and they
were nothing but dignified, showed empathy when our grandad passed. Thank you all for what you do and continue to do when we cannot. Words cannot express how grandad loved Curtis Weston and all the staff and residents.

My 92 year old mam has been a resident here for 6 weeks its been a difficult time for us in having to accept she can no longer manage living independently in her own home, but with the lovely care and support from all of the staff here, my mam has settled in very well and is happy here. The home is
nicely decorated very clean and bright with a warm family atmosphere. I would highly recommend this home.

Mum really likes it here, which is great for us. She hated the two previous homes she went to. The staff are kind and helpful, and her room is clean and well-kept.

My mother has been a resident at this facility since November 2023. Initially she struggled to settle, but with the effort of the staff she has become more at home. There are regular activities and she is encouraged to take part.

My mother has been a resident in Curtis Weston House since February 2023. I can honestly say the care and attention my mum has constantly received from all the staff has been wonderful. Mum's health and mental wellbeing has improved due to the patience and understanding of the staff. The home is well
run with attention to detail re medication, personal records and individual support for residents. It is a happy place where I always feel welcome to visit at any time.

My mum moved into Curtis Weston House in December 2022. The staff and home are excellent, I cannot fault them. My brother, sister and I take my dad one day a week to have dinner with my mum and he says the food is excellent. My mum has settled very well and seems very contented.
I would recommend this
home.

The surroundings are pleasant, well-presented, clean and always smell fresh. The staff at all levels are friendly, caring and treat residents with great dignity. From my experience of other establishments, this is the sort of care home that I would want to be placed in, should the need arise. Well
done to all the staff.

My husband was admitted to Curtis Weston House last February and the care and attention that he has received have been exemplary, the staff are always willing whatever the problem, to care with love and compassion. The home is well-run, and the new manager is coming up with various ideas for the residents
to feel special. The rooms are always clean. The lounges are spacious with lots of comfy chairs and activities being held throughout the day. The food always looks inviting and is adequate for the resident, when they have a party everyone is invited and the staff make the effort to make the dining room special, thank you, Curtis Weston, for making my husband feel loved.

I regularly visit Curtis Weston House to see my dad when I can, the staff at Curtis Weston House always go above and beyond when caring for the elderly and vulnerable, personally, I feel they should get paid more than what they're actually on as the job they've done through covid has been top draw keeping
everyone safe and well keeping the residents in high spirits when family members can't visit due to covid. I've seen comments made online about Curtis Weston House from members of the public who have no idea how far these great staff go to keeping the elderly and vulnerable safe inside the home the staff are friendly and helpful whenever I've been on site so I would like to thank them all from the bottom of my heart. Without them doing what they do my dad wouldn't be here today they always care for him and keep him safe so thanks to all at Curtis Weston House. Keep up the good work.

I am beyond pleased with the care, kindness and sheer selflessness of the whole team at Curtis Weston House Care Home. They looked after my elderly grandma and my disabled aunt with so much love and dedication. They went out of their way to cater to their individual needs and to make sure they were
happy. This home does not specialise in Gujarati communication/diet but went above and beyond. They are very supportive and easy to approach. They updated me regularly to inform me of my grandma and aunt's well-being. I visit regularly and ring twice a week without any issues. The staff are lovely and understanding. I can honestly vouch that Curtis Weston bring a sense of family, contentment and love into the care home. I can understand how emotional and distressing it can be to watch your loved ones go into care. The staff at Curtis Weston assured us that the right help and support would be given 24/7 and that is exactly what they did. On behalf of myself and my mum - we can't thank you enough.

My grandma and aunty were placed at Curtis Weston House Care Home in December 2021. I was surprised that they were the only two Asian residents there. The management team have provided a convenient service. Sadly my grandma passed away in February 2022. The staff are very friendly and dedicated. Due
to covid restrictions, we were not always able to visit them. We maintained contact via video calls and were kept up to date with any changes. Asian staff have been very understanding. We appreciate that they tried their best to meet the dietary and medical needs for my grandma up until her last days. We would be grateful if more Asian meals could be provided for my aunty who is mentally disabled. Staff have been supportive whilst she is dealing with grief. She appears happy and settled now. We know that she is in safe hands. Sometimes staff are not available to answer calls or assist us at the door due to staff shortages. I hope this issue can be resolved. Overall, the family are positive about the quality of the service.

Two of my Indian relatives became residents of the Curtis Weston Care Home just before Christmas. My 87-year-old nan had a bad fall in Oct breaking her hip and becoming bedbound. We struggled to get a care package in place. My aunt, nan’s 58-year-old mentally disabled daughter, was assessed by Social
Services. It was deemed unsafe to remain at home with her Mum. At very short notice, the manager at Curtis Weston Care Home was able to accommodate them both. Giving them rooms with an interconnecting door, so they could remain close together. The home doesn’t specialise in Asian care. From the very beginning, they made sure Nan and Auntie were able to follow their cultural diet. Also, access to Gujarati speaking staff, so there were no isolation or communication issues. A majority of the family live in London. The manager will often contact us and enabled us to video chat. We were able to see they were settling in well. I can’t thank the manager or her care team enough for their continued support.

My mum was a resident at Curtis Weston House Care Home for just over three years, up to her death at the age of 99-years.
During that time the level of care and support that she received from members of staff was of a very high level in terms of professionalism, kindness, patience and taking a genuine
interest in my mum at a personal level. Many members of staff went far beyond in terms of the way in which they cared for my mum and looked after her as if she was family.
The only reason I haven't given five-stars is that there have been times in the past when my mum had to wait for longer periods for staff to arrive at her room but I know this has been addressed more recently by the newer management staff.
Overall though, I'm very grateful to the staff at Curtis Weston for the way they cared for my mum, especially over her final days of her life when they were quite wonderful.

The purpose of this review is to comment on the prevention of abuse. There is an excellent display setting out the abuse policy for the home. It is clear, to the point and relevant. My visits to the home indicate that the prevention of abuse policy is in action and followed by staff.

The carers and domestics have been very good and patient with my mother's needs. Now that she has reached 100 she really does need help now to dress in the mornings and someone to put in her hearing aids also in the morning. Whilst the inside of the home is kept clean, the carpet in her bedroom badly
needs replacing. The smell of urine in her room is quite bad. The outside areas where staff and residents sit is very untidy. My mother really enjoys her food at the home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.708)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.708) out of 10 for Curtis Weston House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.808 for Curtis Weston House is calculated as follows: ( (85 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.808

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Curtis Weston House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
