The Lawns is located in Knighton Rose, Stoneygate and is convenient for Allendale Road shops and cafes. Oadby village is close by. The home provides residential and respite care, and is within easy reach of the A6 road link where there is a regular bus service into Leicester. It is a purpose built home and furnished to a very high standard.

The home is situated in lovely, landscaped gardens and provides spacious en-suite accommodation, with traditional and antique furniture. A good proportion of residents rooms have patio doors opening onto either a patio giving access to the gardens or onto a veranda. Residents are welcome to bring their own possessions.

The Lawns features a large welcoming dining room where residents can socialise at meal times. The chef serves a variety of nutritious home cooked food that residents enjoy. Residents can select from the daily choices menu available and special dietary needs can be catered for.

A purpose built hairdressing salon is located on the ground floor where residents enjoy going to have their hair done by an experienced stylist who frequently visits the home.

The Lawns offers a wide range of activities and outings with a dedicated personal activities leader who strives to provide a stimulating and interesting calendar of entertainment throughout the year. Events are planned in close consultation with residents and their families to ensure everyone has something to enjoy. Trips can include the theatre, opera and Leicester race course, all in the local vicinity.

All the carers and deputy manager at The Lawns are doing a fabulous job of caring for Mum in what is a very tricky time. Mum is very dependent and needs the carers to do pretty much everything for her; they are all so patient and caring and really try their hardest despite everything to give her the
attention she requires.

The Lawns Residential Care Home is a home from home. From the moment you walk in the door, there is a warm welcome. The staff are lovely, genuine, dedicated people. The activities have something for everyone, the food is beautiful, in fact, it has a holiday, hotel atmosphere. The rooms are spacious,
clean and advantageous if you are lucky enough to overlook the garden.

The Lawns Care Home is always very welcoming with a warm and homely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and caring and give the level of attention to meet the resident's individual needs. The staff always rise to the occasion to celebrate residents 'milestone' events.

My father-in-law came to The Lawns for short-term respite care. He has always been adamant about wanting to stay in his own house for as long as possible. However, the care received at The Lawns and the excellent food, but most of all the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, have completely
changed his mind. He loves being pampered ('it is like a hotel here') and relishes the frequent opportunity for banter with the staff. I am very pleased to see him so happy again. Thank you.

My mum has stayed at The Lawns for respite care when we have a holiday. She is well looked after. She is on a number of meds which are administered on time and correctly. The Lawns gives us peace of mind.


We discovered The Lawns in 2017 and this was her fifth stay. Mum is always warmly welcomed and

staff know her well - as she knows them. They are friendly and caring. The home offers en-suite accommodation, which is essential for mum, comfortable furniture, clean and bright. It has the look of a country house. Food is cooked fresh and her dietary needs are well catered for. The Lawns offers a calm, organised and friendly atmosphere. Staff are clearly identifiable by good uniforms that are easy to see.


My mum doesn't take part in activities or visit the dining room, lounges and gardens but there is a great range on offer, should she change her mind. I know that staff ask if she would like to join in which is good. Residents look well and know us now, so mum gets a warm welcome.

My mother is resident here and the care home provides a very homely environment with plenty of daily activities for the residents to take part in. There is an excellent choice of meals which can be had either in the restaurant or in their room depending on the individual's mobility.
All of the staff
are very friendly and caring and I, therefore, feel happy that my mother is being well looked after.

This is the third time I have enjoyed a short stay at The Lawns. The location is close to family and friends and it gives me the opportunity to be with them for special occasions. The staff here are all very kind and it also gives my husband a couple of night’s respite. I felt warmly welcomed by staff
(care, catering, hospitality) and residents who remembered me as well as by those who have come to The Lawns since my last visit. I was able to play Scrabble with one of the residents - it seems as if there is lot’s going on at The Lawns to make it feel like home. I should like to stay again if they will have me!

My Mother's care while at The Lawns, she was always treated with dignity. My Mother was a very private person and did not mix easily. The staff always respected that this was the way she was. When she needed assistance with walking a physio was requested, my very proud mother agreed she needed help
and again when she became incontinent this was handled in the most caring way. The home always contacted the family if there were any problems. When Mum became ill they phoned me, straight away she had an End of Life Plan. I cannot thank the staff enough for the way I was supported during the last day of her life. They phoned me to tell me Mum had died. When I went to see her the staff had dressed her and her hair had been brushed and flowers on her chest. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the outstanding care my Mum received while at The Lawns.

I was incredibly impressed with everything about The Lawns. A lovely place, with a lovely atmosphere. Excellent care form staff that always had a smile for you and couldn't do more to help. The manager was wonderful and made my mother feel at home as soon as she arrived. She runs a great home and a

I have had five weeks respite here and got almost back to normal after a nasty illness. The staff have all looked after me well and all are cheerful, kind and caring. I have enjoyed the meals which are varied, interesting. If I need to I shall certainly try to come back as I have been very satisfied
and tell friends if the need arises.

My mother was resident at The Lawns for over four years. She became very ill during the summer and The Lawns provided end of life care. I have been happy with the level of care my mother has received throughout her residency, but the kindness and attention shown to her during the final few weeks of
her life were exceptional. We chose The Lawns originally because it seemed a smaller, more personal care home, and our instinct proved right. The staff work hard to meet the needs of the residents and create a home from home atmosphere. As I am not local, the additional help with attending hospital appointments, shopping, and a general regard for her physical and mental welfare, which could otherwise so easily be missed, were particularly appreciated. I have noticed a real step up in general management in the last couple of years particularly. The kindness shown to me attending my mum during her final weeks of illness made all the difference during a very difficult time.

Since my father passed away at The Lawns Care Home in 2016, I have been a regular visitor to some of the long-term residents. I have always been made very welcome by all the staff - nothing is too much trouble both for residents and visitors. The Lawns Care Home is always clean with lots of different
activities and care is excellent.

I came to The Lawns for respite care as I had a bad dose of the flu, chest infection and a urine infection. As there were no beds available in the hospital I was sent home with a bag of medication. For 10 days I seemed to live on medication and water until I could no longer cope.
The Lawns were great,
so caring and kind with lovely food and drink which really helped my recovery.

My mother spent over three years in The Lawns Care Home and in the early days of transition form her flat nearby to this wonderful home was quite difficult for her, but the management and staff managed this period very well. Laterly the last days of her life required extra special care from the management
and staff who made this very traumatic period very comfortable for mum and her family and close friends.
They went the extra mile and should be commended for it.

Marie has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years. During this time she has been able to grow not only in her career but as a person. She began as a care assistant and has since progressed to Home Manager. Although it may be challenging at times, she finds her job extremely rewarding and loves making her residents feel truly valued. As Home Manager, she takes pride in empowering a positive culture across the home with the team and the residents.


In her spare time, Marie is a keen photographer; some of her photographs have even made it onto East Midlands News. Marie believes that “every day is a new opportunity and makes life feel brighter.”
