The Lawns is located in Knighton Rose, Stoneygate and is convenient for Allendale Road shops and cafes. Oadby village is close by. The home provides residential and respite care, and is within easy reach of the A6 road link where there is a regular bus service into Leicester. It is a purpose built home and furnished to a very high standard.

The home is situated in lovely, landscaped gardens and provides spacious en-suite accommodation, with traditional and antique furniture. A good proportion of residents rooms have patio doors opening onto either a patio giving access to the gardens or onto a veranda. Residents are welcome to bring their own possessions.

The Lawns features a large welcoming dining room where residents can socialise at meal times. The chef serves a variety of nutritious home cooked food that residents enjoy. Residents can select from the daily choices menu available and special dietary needs can be catered for.

A purpose built hairdressing salon is located on the ground floor where residents enjoy going to have their hair done by an experienced stylist who frequently visits the home.

The Lawns offers a wide range of activities and outings with a dedicated personal activities leader who strives to provide a stimulating and interesting calendar of entertainment throughout the year. Events are planned in close consultation with residents and their families to ensure everyone has something to enjoy. Trips can include the theatre, opera and Leicester race course, all in the local vicinity.

The most homely home I've ever visited, so nice to see everyone enjoying activities and beautiful food. I've never seen so many visitors welcomed and greeted in a very professional and friendly way. My friend could not be happier.

My mother was a resident at The Lawns Care Home for 6 weeks after a long admission in the hospital. The staff were very helpful and efficient in arranging for her transfer from hospital to the home. They are able to provide individualised care for each resident dependant on their needs. They were very
welcoming to her friends so they could enjoy visits. During her time there my mother's health improved, giving us peace of mind and providing us with many happy memories in her last few weeks.
Sadly she passed away unexpectedly, but the staff dealt with this difficult situation with great compassion and dignity. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home for short or long term care.

I have seen a remarkable change for the better since the the manager was engaged. The staff are so professional and much happier. My dearest friend lived at The Lawns and passed away at the grand age of 103 plus four months. All the very best to the Manager and the team at The Lawns.

My mum entered The Lawns in March 2016 and passed away on the 2nd of January 2017. The staff were marvellous to my mum and the family and especially me as I was there every day and when she died. They all loved her and treated her so well. I can't recommend them enough. The deputy manager is very caring,
helpful and approachable.

I first came to the lawns in October 2012 after a serious illness the and attention was second to none and soon had me back to health. Another very bad illness early November last year brought me here again with the same results. The care and attention soon had me feeling well and this was a hard recovery.
At present, I wish to stay in my own home and every help has been given to achieve this. Many thanks to all.

I was very wary and cynical of residential care homes but the staff and The Lawns itself have changed my opinion completely. My grandpa was treated with kindness, respect and dignity by each and every member of staff. When he was so poorly he wasn't alone and not only did the staff look after him so
well they also looked after the rest of the family when we visited daily. They became friends. The building itself is spotless with wonderful facilities and activities for all residents. I would definitely, without any hesitation, recommend the Lawns to anyone needing care.

I visit a lot of care homes as part of my job and know the quality can vary hugely. So when I needed to find a home for mum I was delighted to find the Lawns. Six months on I am still very impressed. Delightful, clean homely accommodation, helpful caring staff who go the extra mile and a great activity
programme. Mum has flourished here and is very pleased she made the move.

Came on Saturday for MS fundraising day, a great day was made to feel extremely welcome. The home is beautiful, clean and I was really impressed by the coffee bar in reception, the latte was lovely and the cakes were amazing. Nice to see a home raising money for others.

I went to The Lawns in April for 19 days after having a blackout at home. My daughter rang the doctor and he said I needed complete rest and he recommended The Lawns. I was made welcome by all the staff, spoilt to death with TLC and fattened up like an Xmas turkey. Nothing was too much trouble for all
the staff. I was glad of all this rest and attention, I came to The Lawns as a stranger and left as a friend. When it was time to leave, when my daughter came to pick me up, the carers lined up outside with kisses and waving Union Jack flags. All the carers were wonderful!!

My dad has been a resident at The Lawns from time to time over the last year or so. Dad has memory loss, but enjoys a good quality of life. We are always happy with his care at The Lawns. The environment is comfortable and attractive, in a nice area with a beautiful garden. There are a range of good
sized shared rooms downstairs, and well appointed, comfortable single rooms on both floors. All are different. Dad rates the food as 'very good'. There is a good range of activities on offer. Most importantly the staff are professional, friendly and flexible. They treat dad as an individual and do what they can to meet his needs (he likes being outside and going out for walks). Last time I went to pick him up my daughter came - we were greeted by a carer with warm hugs and kind words. My daughter said 'I think that is the loveliest woman I have ever met'.
I am a nurse by background, work in the public sector and have looked at many homes. This is a great one! Thank to all the staff.

I enjoyed a very good stay at The Lawns Care Home after 6 weeks in hospital. The staff were very kind and caring. I enjoyed all the activities. The food was always excellent. I shall be returning in August for 2 weeks whilst my family are on holiday.

Marie Welsh

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Marie has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years. During this time she has been able to grow not only in her career but as a person. She began as a care assistant and has since progressed to Home Manager. Although it may be challenging at times, she finds her job extremely rewarding and loves making her residents feel truly valued. As Home Manager, she takes pride in empowering a positive culture across the home with the team and the residents.


In her spare time, Marie is a keen photographer; some of her photographs have even made it onto East Midlands News. Marie believes that “every day is a new opportunity and makes life feel brighter.”
