The Lodge is a warm and welcoming care home located in attractive countryside surroundings, and is decorated to a consistently high standard.

All staff are well trained and have a passion for providing exceptional care. The team take pride in treating residents as individuals and ensuring that they receive person centred care and are treated with compassion, respect and dignity at all times.

The Lodge has a homely feel whilst offering a hotel finish, giving residents a place to live in comfort, quality, and safety. The mature gardens provide a beautiful setting for residents to enjoy and admire the rose garden.

All meals are prepared on site by a team of cooks who only use fresh produce to create an interesting and varied menu of meals. Any extra dietary needs are taken into consideration by the home when providing meals for residents.

My 97-year-old Auntie has been living at The Lodge since February following a traumatic experience at another home. The change in her is immense. Staff have welcomed her and her family with warmth and much-needed care. With their support, we have been able to recover. This is a homely place in lovely
surroundings. There is no feeling that the staff's work is just a job but is done because they love being there. They are responsive to questions and queries. Residents are treated with respect and fondness. There are many activities on offer but there is also the space to sit quietly and opt out of these if preferred. There is a lovely relaxed feel and lounges are arranged to maximise residents' interaction, if desired. I have had one meal with my Auntie which was lovely, with a sherry to start. There are often home-baked biscuits which are lovely. There is a need to redecorate but this does not detract from the lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much!

I'm so happy to have found this gem of a care home for my dad, he's so happy and contented living here. It certainly eased my guilt, as I would have loved to have been able to keep him within the family, but Alzheimer's, unfortunately, wouldn't allow us to. So the process of finding a decent and friendly
care home was paramount. All I can say is we hit the jackpot with the Lodge, staff are welcoming and so friendly. They should be proud of their care home, as it really is a home from home. I applaud you all. Keep up the great work.

The quality of care at the Lodge is excellent - the manager and her staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The place is clean, bright and very well kept, as are the gardens, the quality of the food is amazing and varied. There are various activities during the day to keep everyone
occupied, also there is a hairdressing service and the charge for this is very realistic. There is a small car park to the front of the building. I can fully recommend the Lodge and give it a five-star rating.

My dad came into The Lodge just over 2 weeks ago, obviously, due to covid we haven't been able to visit him properly, but I spoke with the manager and explained our family circumstances before Dad got admitted, and can honestly say how much this lovely lady and all her staff have made my dad feel so
welcomed and at home (considering he's not been out of his bedroom for 14-days due to self-isolating as he came from the hospital). We have been allowed to visit and speak to Dad on his patio through the window, which in turn, has uplifted all the families spirits and very much Dads. I look forward to him going into the rest of the home and meeting other residents and making some new friends. I know my dad is happy there because, from day one, his mood just lifted, and he says to me where did you find this place for me, it's amazing and he loves the food. Thank you all so much!

My mum has lived at The Lodge for a number of years. During these really difficult times as a result of COVID-19, the staff and managers at the home have worked tirelessly to provide extra care and support for all the residents, and to ensure that relatives are kept up-to-date with news and have been
able to stay connected with their loved ones, even though visits have not been possible. The quality of the care and kindness they have shown has been reassuring and of comfort to me. Their processes for now allowing visits are robust and very COVID-19 safe. Visiting my mum again has been a joy and my mum has said that she is lucky to live in a place where there is kindness. Thank you, everyone.

When it became clear that my dad required a residential care home placement this home was recommended highly to me by someone who knew Dad and also several people who had used the provider up to that point. For the last three months of his life, Dad received the best care in very pleasant surroundings
and I have no reservations about passing on the highest recommendation possible. He and my family were warmly welcomed as into an extended family and his needs were tended with dignity and loving care. We will be forever grateful for the comfort and compassion that made his last days more bearable for us all and as happy for him as could be.

I've been able to form the opinion that extremely good care and service are provided by the cheery, kind, caring and dedicated team at The Lodge - I am happy to recommend everything about it. The characterful surroundings of the building made it especially attractive, as are the landscaped surroundings.
Everywhere is squeaky clean and the wide range of food is well cooked and presented. I give The Lodge a well deserved ten out of ten. My husband was treated with respect, empathy and good humour all round. Well done.

We placed our 95-year-old auntie there when she came out of hospital after breaking a shoulder bone. The home, the room and the staff were most welcoming and very capable in their care for her. Unfortunately, it was in the last four weeks of her life and it was a shame that she could not have enjoyed
it for much longer. A home most suitable for the clientele that they support. Thank you.

My Mum moved into The Lodge about 6 weeks ago, from her home - a big wrench! We were worried at first because we live a long way away but the staff were lovely and put our minds at ease with their friendly, caring and attentive ways. So, my Mum has settled in really quickly, she participates in most
of the activities provided by the home (but doesn't always remember them, unless it's the singing and chair exercises!). She loves the food and regular cups of tea - I was even there when they had a sherry (a very small one, I might add!). The residents are mostly ladies, with a variety of needs in terms of mobility and dementia, they seem very supportive of each other and seem to all get along. The staff are cheery and engage with the residents, taking them outside in the garden on warm days. The management and staff are always willing to adapt to any specific care issues and attend to things (such as flu jabs, medications, NHS continence service or looking for clothes I forgot to label!).

I can only review the two weeks respite care my Husband recently spent at The Lodge. He is a wheelchair user and has dementia. My daughter visited him every day at different times, and always found him clean and well looked after and enjoying joining in the activities. The staff were always friendly
and nothing seemed too much trouble. He came home really happy and cheerful and commented on what good meals he had had every day, so I can only assume he enjoyed his short stay there. I wouldn`t have any concerns about booking him in again.

My Aunt, who is 102 years old, has been at The Lodge, Thurby for 4 1/2 years. Her movement is no longer but is very aware of everything that's going on. As happy as she can be - doing her word search and reading her papers and magazines. She has read this and agrees with all.
