Our mum has been a resident for the last 8 months during which she has been really well looked after by the caring and very friendly staff.

The home has high standards of cleanliness and is always very tidy. Visitors are warmly welcomed and offered tea and coffee. It would be nice to have another

room downstairs when visiting but appreciate there isn’t the space to allow for this. Mum can sometimes be picky with her food but staff always offer alternatives.

We have been able to decorate her room and bring in furniture which has helped her settle in really well. There are various activities happening each day which the residents are encouraged to take part in.

This is a lovely care home. Staff are very polite and caring, they have a good understanding of age-related conditions. They get to know and understand each resident and their needs. When I have visited there is always a carer in the lounge chatting away with the resident or doing some form of activity.
Any concerns or questions are dealt with straight away and they keep families informed. Residents always seem happy. I cannot fault this care home on any level.

My mother in law has been in Northfields for nearly two years and always appears to be well looked after and she is encouraged to join in with any arranged activities or to be with the other residents rather than sit in her room by herself.
The home is always very clean and the meals are well cooked
and nicely presented.
All of the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful and my wife and I have have always found them to be genuinely concerned for the residents, this is the same any time of the day or evening.
All of the family consider that we were very fortunate to get my mother in law in Northfields and appreciate the care that she receives.

Northfields is not big and posh but homely. Its called a care home because they care. The staff are very caring of their residents and very pleasant and helpful and welcoming to visitors. They keep you informed of the residents progress and seem to know at all times, even during the night, what their
residents are doing and where they are at all times. This is what I call a safe environment and alleviates any worries knowing that your loved one is being really looked after. Thank you to a very dedicated team.

My Nan has been here for 9 months and is very happy. All the staff are genuine, kind and very caring. You can visit at any time and you are always made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and we are always kept informed of how Nan is doing.

The manager does a brilliant job with the help

of a fantastic team. We appreciate everyone and everything you all do. It doesn't go unnoticed how hard you all work - thank you.

I 100% know this is a brilliant care home as we have experienced others that make you realise that we are very thankful that Nan is at Northfield House.

My 95-year-old mother has been in this home for over 5 years. The care and attention she gets is exceptional. I have never had any reason to raise any concerns or question anything about her overall care. The staff who care for her are very dedicated and caring.

As a caring family, we were dreading when the time came when we would need to make the decision for our Mum to go into a permanent residential home and as it was imperative that we found the right one. We reviewed several homes before finally making our choice. Northfield House is a superbly clean,
friendly, caring home. It has a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere and a true home from home environment. The management and carers are extremely hardworking, kind and take an active interest in every one of their residents, ensuring that each of their individual needs are met. My Mum is treated with dignity and respect at all times and is a very happy and contented resident. We are always kept informed about my Mum's well-being and when visiting, are always made to feel just as welcome as the residents. If you want a hi-tech, ultra modern home then this is not the one for you, but if kindness, a high level of care and a homely cosy environment is, then you will certainly find it here.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.500)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.500) out of 10 for Northfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.900 for Northfield House is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.9

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northfield House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
