Oakleigh Residential Home is a small, 23-bed family run home, established in 1983 set in the heart of the National Forest providing long-term, day care or respite person-centred care for the elderly, physically disabled and those with dementia.

The aim is to provide tailored support in a safe, homely, happy environment to enable each individual to maintain their independence, achieve their aspirations and to enjoy each day.

Care is delivered by a team of professional, highly trained, long-serving staff who are dedicated to their role ensuring each individual is treated with dignity, respect, kindness, compassion and encouragement.

All food is home cooked and nutritious with various daily menu options available.

Regular activities and outings are promoted and clients encouraged to remain part of their community through assistance with access or by community groups visiting the home.

The Home has since January 2019 been undergoing refurbishment with a view to making the environment more dementia friendly for clients.

Ample Parking is provided.

CQC rated the service as GOOD during inspection on the 3rd of July, 2017.

My mother was in Oakleigh for nearly four years, during this time, she was very well cared for, always dressed nicely and hair groomed. The manager, staff and owners were always on hand if anything was requested or needed. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place for a loved one. Nice
homely atmosphere and a good standard of food. A very clean and tidy place.

My mum is well looked after and needs for nothing. The staff are all lovely. Mum has her hair done regularly and her nails painted. She always seems happy. I would highly recommend the home.

My father took a little time to settle in, but finally, management and staff have always been there to listen to any concerns he has. His room is clean, spacious and designed to relax during the day, where he likes to catch up with everything on his own TV. The staff are caring and friendly, and the
food is brought to my father in a timely manner. He looks relaxed, clean and content when I visit him. Whenever he has needed medical attention, this has been arranged promptly.

My grandmother came to Oakleigh after being unable to manage at home. Whilst there, she was treated with compassion and kindness. Her illness meant she needed a pureed diet, and the staff made sure her meals were not only nutritious but looked appetising and tasty. The staff were always welcoming, knowledgable
and friendly and treated my grandmother like family.

Mum only stayed at Oakleigh for a few weeks but those last weeks meant she sat in the sunshine, laughing and eating ice creams instead of being at home ill, lonely and afraid. I can't thank Oakleigh enough for everything they did to make Mum's last few weeks happy and comfortable.

We came to visit mum in February after being told mum was too poorly for visit to find her covered in vomit, slumped in a chair, lips very swollen and sore. We asked the manageress to call an ambulance she declined, told us to wait for a ring back. Apparently, it was her usual episode of vertigo. This
was different so finally, we took it into our own hands. I knew mum was dehydrated. I asked a care member. She said she wasn’t medically trained to spot this. The ambulance came, the paramedic thought she had had a stroke and was shocked an ambulance hadn’t been called before. Mum was rushed to the hospital with severe dehydration and lithium toxicity. Both hospital and paramedic put a complaint to the CQC. Absolute, neglect wouldn’t recommend. We couldn’t visit when we wanted. Also, they stopped mums sweets and chocolate with no valid reason as she wasn’t diabetic. Took money monthly off us with no receipts for what the money had been used for. The home is not a place I would recommend.

My grandma was left in there with severe dehydration for days but the manager wasn't bothered. Me and my mum had to call an ambulance as she wanted to leave her until the doctor arrived which could have taken just 6 hours for a ring back. She wasn't with it, being sick, and confused, and the manager
was funny with us because we wanted to call an ambulance. When arriving at the hospital they said she had lithium toxicity caused by severe dehydration. Lucky me and my mum were there to call 999 as the hospital said left any longer she would have been in a coma or died! I wouldn't trust the manager with my pet cat let alone a care home. All the residents that are in there that haven't got relations, god help them! The manager/owner took £60 every 5 or so weeks and we never got receipts for what she spent! Stopped my grandma having sweet treats, not sure where all the ones I took went. Still wasn't allowed to visit in her room so couldn't see her after 5 when I finish work as she liked to go up to her room and watch TV.

My mother came here in November 2022. Since she has been here, there has been a big change in Mum for the better.
