After a lot of difficult thought, we had to find a place for our sister who has Alzheimer's into a care home. Pinglenook was so nice and they took care of her. The staff are so wonderful and we can't thank them enough.

I find they are really good with my mother. It is a small home and they all try really hard. My mother was in a larger home with a better report but found it terrible. It’s so much better to have a personal touch.

My mum went to Pinglenook Residential Care Home from hospital and the care she has received has been excellent. The staff are very friendly and caring, the food is excellent, it’s clean and warm it’s all you want a care home to be. Mum has Alzheimer’s but is much better physically in the short time
she’s been there which I put down to the food, she is eating and drinking far more than she did at home. When I or family and friends have visited we’ve always been offered a drink and either cake or biscuits. I cannot praise the place highly enough. Do not go by the CQC report, go and see it for yourself.

Their care is amazing. My mum is looked after very well. Care staff are polite and nothing is too much trouble. I am well-informed of my mum's health and well-being at all times. The nursing home is clean and tidy. Staff are so very good with all who live there.

The carers are brilliant, they do their job really well and in the majority of cases I am kept up to date with my mum's care. The improvements that have been made around the home have been fantastic, the only criticism is the door handles to the bedrooms which are difficult to turn and I catch my hand
every time. My mum struggles to turn the handles. My mum complains about the food, I can't comment on this and I do not see it. Her clothes do not always return to her after being washed and on a few occasions, other residents have been wearing her clothes. I do believe that the residents are bored and need more activities. I think maybe having volunteers come in to do games and things would be great. These are just simple things that hopefully will improve in time. I am happy and confident that my mum is being cared for very well. She is happy at Pinglenook. I have seen vast improvements already this year.

My father has been a resident here for some time and is settled and happy. Pinglenook has a homely and caring atmosphere. The staff are caring and communicative. They have worked hard to keep the residents safe and well during the past difficult year. They look after my father's needs and understand
his dementia. The housekeeping always seems to be of a high standard and the staff seem aware of the importance of good nutrition. My father always tells me that the food is good. Overall I am happy with the home.

My dad was in this cafe home as a temporary resident and now has become a permanent resident. We had no worries with choosing this care home for dad to stay in as we had all decided that there was no way we could give dad the care he needs at home with his dementia. He is well looked after his needs
are always met. Staff are always on hand to discuss any concerns about his care and health. I wouldn’t want him anywhere else. I know I can leave my dad here and he will get the best care he should have but on the other hand if I did have any problems the manager and head senior are always at hand and always listen and the other staff are always there to listen and help if they can as well. Thank you to all at Pinglenook.

My husband was at Pinglenool for three months before he died. The care home and staff are excellent and I had no hesitation choosing Pinglenook as my mother had spent the last 18 months of her life there. Everyone is wonderful.

My 98 year old auntie came to Pinglenook at very short notice after a hospital stay. She was unable to continue to live an independent life in her own home. I was so very lucky to get a place in Pinglenook. My auntie had her 99th birthday there before passing away recently. I can’t recommend the quality
of care she received in her last year enough. She was kept beautifully clean at all times, lovely home cooked meals and a very nice room. The home is clean and smells as fresh as a daisy.
Pinglenook is a residential care home. It was my aunties home and the care staff were outstanding. They made her happy and really bothered with every aspect of her care which enabled my auntie to enjoy her last months. They made her feel like family.
Thank you to both management and the loving staff who cared for my auntie.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.136)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.136) out of 10 for Pinglenook Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.761 for Pinglenook Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.761

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pinglenook Residential Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 registered maximum number of service users is 3.2, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
