I am filling this form in on behalf of my Mother. In general, I find that she is well-looked after and seems content. Activities seem to be quite wide ranging although Mum does not usually want to take part in them.

The home seems to be very well run. The manager is very supportive and helps my Father with any problems or worries he has. The staff seem caring and efficient.

Mum was supposed to be at the home for 1-2 weeks but ended up being there for 7 weeks. Mum is a very talkative person but unfortunately, she was not able to converse with many residents. Being in a home is a big transition for Mum so it was a struggle for her to settle in. The staff were very patient
with her so thank you.

My father has just had two weeks of respite care at Ashford House. The staff are extremely caring and the personal care has been of a high standard. My father has enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the garden. He had a lovely bright and spacious room. We would definitely go back to Ashford House if
my father needs more care in the future.

Ashford House is in a lovely area with a garden. When it was nice (previous month) we sat outside in the garden and it was lovely. Mum's previous home has no garden and she loved looking at the trees and hearing the birds, Mum seems very happy and every time we come she is better and happy. The staff
are all lovely, she loved the cupcake making.

My mum moved into Ashford House in September. I have been very impressed with all the staff and the cleanliness of the home. My mum is settling in well. A health issue was promptly spotted and dealt with. I feel that Mum is being very well looked after which is very comforting to me.

My wife of sixty-six years of marriage has now been in Ashford House Care Home (formal Rearsby Care Home) for five and a half years. She is being looked after by the caring staff. As a family of myself and our three children, we look on the positive side. She is warm, clean and happy in a very caring
home. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.370)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.370) out of 10 for Ashford House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.254 for Ashford House is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.254

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.116 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashford House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.4 = 0.741

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
