Very exceptional staff, caring and kind to residents and visitors alike. Plenty of activities are planned for residents and every effort is made to help those who cannot take part without help.
The home smells wonderful, the decor is homely and the environment is clean and safe. Cannot thank the team
enough for their attentive care of my mother.

My father has been well looked after, and staff have tried their hardest to make him feel included. They are very kind when dealing with him, engaging in conversations and encouraging him. He loves the food, and his appetite has come back. It is lovely to see staff smiling and happy, which passes on
to the residents. Thank you for your help in a very trying time.

This is a lovely friendly care home. We couldn't have wished for any better. They cared for my dad with love and support for the family. Would highly recommend this home. The meals are excellent and provided to suit every diet. The entertainment ladies work very hard. The maintenance man is very efficient.

A lovely care home with lovely staff. Visited multiple times and always noticed how much attention and care is given to the residents. Nothing is too much trouble, regardless of the challenges the staff occasionally face (as to be expected in a care environment!). Kind and caring. Wouldn’t hesitate
to recommend this care home. Also located in a pleasant location with a nice aspect.

My mum arrived at the home during the pandemic, it was a stressful time for us all - with reduced visits. I never thought my mum would settle but she has now settled very well. The staff are very kind and patient and I feel relaxed with them and am able to approach anyone if I have any concerns.

Residents are well cared for and happy although there is not enough communication between staff and resident's family, personal items go missing never to be seen again, residents are not always wearing their own clothing even when their clothes are clearly labelled. My mum had dementia and did not realise
they were not her clothes although it was upsetting for her family.

My brother settled in happily to Abbey House and has remained positive despite difficult medical issues. Staff have been friendly and helpful. (I've never been inside Abbey House due to covid restrictions.)

I am very pleased with everything at Abbey House. My mum is very well looked after considering she can get very vocal and tends to hit out sometimes. The staff are amazing and they should all be rewarded for the job they do in these difficult times. Please carry on the good work and thank you very much.

My uncle had an initial assessment and has now taken full-residency within Abbey House. He chose to remain as the staff are friendly, he feels safe and cared for and has put on weight, and looks happier and healthier. We feel very confident with this level of care.

My mother is a resident and often suffers with pain in her face. Recently she was quite poorly and the staff have been wonderful with her. They encourage her to eat when she hasn't felt like it. They know her well now and recognise when she isn't quite herself. The staff always keep me informed when
my mum is off colour also.

This is a very caring home and during this pandemic, the staff have outdone themselves, keeping the family informed with regular updates and photos. A special thanks to the entertainment lady she has come up with varied and brilliant ideas. What a great social life the clients have received. Well done

Because of COVID-19 it has been difficult for us to make a proper assessment of Abbey House. We have not been able to go inside the building or see my brother-in-law in his room. However, we have had many phone conversations with him and he is clearly very happy and settled since he arrived there is
2020. The staff seem to have an excellent relationship with him. They have been most helpful to us in phone conversations and clearly have his best interests at heart.

Mum reached the point of needing residential care during the covid-19 pandemic restrictions. This meant that the family were unable to settle her into her new environment. We were very pleased with the way the lovely staff at Abbey House welcomed her, sorted everything and helped her to feel at home.
Following subsequent hospital visits, mum smiled her appreciation at returning to her new home, despite her communication difficulties. These difficulties have made it hard for her to keep in touch with the family under present conditions, but staff have helped with this and are always happy to take a call or give an update. There have been some memorable touches such as organising an anniversary card for her husband, and a beautiful handmade Christmas card. We are confident that mum is well-cared-for and happy and would highly recommend Abbey House and the lovely staff.

My aunt was resident at Abbey House from February 2019 until she passed away in August 2020. The care and kindness she received from the staff was amazing. She was a difficult lady at times due to her illness but the staff were so patient and understanding and took time to understand her likes and dislikes
and to make it interesting for her. I cannot thank them enough.

I think Abbey House is very good. They have looked after my neighbour for five weeks and treated her very well. The staff are so friendly and you couldn't wish for a better service. My mum had only been a resident at Abbey House for a couple of months after us moving her from another care home, she sadly passed away on 27 Jan 2020.
From the 1st day, she settled in quickly and was happy there.
The care shown by the staff has been amazing and the communication great. It’s a lovely
home, from the bright homely atmosphere to all the activities on offer.
I cannot praise them enough on how they handled my Mums passing making sure she was not alone, and how compassionately they treated myself and my family, always available with tea, coffee and hugs.
From managers to the cleaners, they were always happy and always made myself, my family and my Mum feel valued.
Again my massive thanks to the staff knowing she was with people that cared and not alone.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.642)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.642) out of 10 for Abbey House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.466 for Abbey House is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.466

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.176 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.676

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
