Carers very kind and helpful but I was only a respite resident and don't suffer with dementia so I consider I was treated a little differently.

My friend at Abbey House has made such incredible progress since residing there. The home is always clean, tidy and well presented. The staff are very friendly and always go the extra mile, nothing is ever too much trouble, despite how busy they all are. The management are warm, reliable and honest
and any concerns have been addressed immediately. There are an array of activities, including trips out.
It’s been such a pleasure to see my friend go from strength to strength and I am so grateful to all of the staff at abbey house for getting her back to her old self.

My mum has been a resident at Abbey House for a few years now but sadly passed away on 16 June 2019.
The level of care and compassion shown by the staff has been second to none. Any questions were always answered fully and honestly. When she died, the staff once again were fantastic. No rush to sort
the room out, sandwiches and copious amounts of tea and coffee were made available.
All in all, from senior managers all the way to the cleaners, always happy and involving guests as well as residents.
If I end up in a care home, I hope it's Abbey House Leicester.
Once again a massive thanks to the staff at this difficult time.

The manager and care workers are brilliant with my mother and others on observing. We visit my mother between all the family at least once a day. We visit at all different times and we have had no concerns. The cleaning is ongoing and my mother's room always looks clean and tidy. The home respect and
they encourage.

This care home is a well-run establishment. All the residents seem happy, contented and well fed. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the residents are kept entertained and as active as possible. The facilities are very good given the age of the building. All in all, a very well run care home
which is a credit to the Manager.

Having had experience of two other family members residing within Abbey House over the last two years, I have no hesitation in my mum having respite and hopefully, long-term care at Abbey House. Rooms are clean and the staff are welcoming and helpful.

My mother was moved to Abbey House after spending four weeks in the hospital, due to the nature of my mother's illness she was unable to return to her home. I feel that the home provides all the care my mother needs, all the staff are friendly helpful and caring. The home feels comfortable and welcoming
whenever I visit and my mother is happy to be there.

I am the husband and I visit the care home on a regular basis to see my wife. I notice that the carers are always very busy and I assume there is not enough of them due to rapid turnover and the difficulty of replacement of carers that have left the job. Caring is hard work and I admire the way that
the staff that are left get on with the job with a smile and a good heart.

The home has a very good atmosphere. All staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good programme of activities including trips out. Relatives are encouraged to be involved in the life of the residents and are welcome at all times. Residents are always given choices and the opportunities to give
opinions, communication with the family of resident couldn't be better.

My mother became a resident of this home at the beginning of this year (2016). From the first meeting with the manager we knew it was where we wanted her to be. They offer excellent care, retaining the dignity, choice making and personality of the individual. They not only care about the resident but
the family members also. They offer a wide variety of activities to entertain and occupy the residents and are always happy to answer any questions/concerns that may arise.

Always greeted with a smile and the offer of a cup of tea!

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.642)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.642) out of 10 for Abbey House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.466 for Abbey House is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.466

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.176 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.676

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
