I’ve experienced so many different emotions about needing to find a care home for my Mum, but I’ve never been in any doubt that Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home was the right place for her.
Since moving in earlier this year she has thrived due to the excellent level of care she has received around
the clock.
Mum really enjoys the range of activities that are on offer and it is always so lovely to see what she has been up to. I love the fact that the wide range of activities appeals to all residents and really taps into their personal interests.
Friends and family from across the world have been able to keep up with what Mum has been doing by checking in on social media and it always makes them smile to see Mum looking so happy and busy.

My brother-in-law has been in Chater Lodge for quite a few years now, he started off downstairs and then sadly as his dementia progressed went upstairs to Memory Lane.
His care in both situations has been marvellous.
This is mainly due to the kindness and efficiency of the staff.
His room is always
clean, his clothes are always clean.
The food is fresh and tasty.
There is always someone to have a cheery word with him.
Visitors are welcomed and the whole feel of the place is very homely.
The manageress is very on the ball and available to talk you through any issues.
My brother-in-law now requires a lot more help as his dementia worsens, the staff handle his needs with great care.

Lunch for residents was provided in the lounge to watch the Coronation to completion. This worried the staff moving tables, chairs and all cutlery, moving over from everywhere, quite hard work. This was over and above the home and was much appreciated. Well done.

We visited my aunt for the second time yesterday. On each occasion, the staff were very pleasant and looked after us well. The manageress took time to show us my aunt's resident book and to explain some of the things they put on to keep the resident's interest up. The care home appeared spotless and
we had tea in the quiet room which was very comfortable. The resident's lounge and dining room looked lovely and my wife commented on the options on the dinner and breakfast menus.

I was very impressed with the calm and friendly atmosphere in the home, which I think is more important than the decor, furnishings etc. However, the decor and furniture were very attractive, well-designed for comfort and very clean. I would recommend this home to any friend.

Having visited several care homes I decided on placing my uncle with Chater Lodge. The manager was very caring, helpful and understanding.
The home has a lovely friendly atmosphere and feels homely which was very important. It has nice outside spaces which are well kept. We find the staff welcoming,
caring and helpful.

Overall my family were disappointed with Chater Lodge. Dad stayed for 4 weeks. On the positive, the food was excellent and a few of the staff were caring and attentive. However, Dad was moved to a ground floor room (at his request) which it turned out did not have a working TV point or WiFi signal.
Dad has sundowning and is awake in the middle of the night. He was told very brusquely to get back to bed by night staff, however couldn’t even put the TV on. I raised the issue with the manager. It was still not resolved after 2 weeks. Staff are dementia trained apparently but we had no evidence of this given how Dad was spoken to at night. In addition, he had to get ready for bed and get dressed in the morning to fit in with their routine, not his. The website states that residents do not have to change GP - incorrect. Dad was re-registered without our knowledge or communication. Also, there have been no day trips and you have to wait ages to see staff at the weekend. They are elusive.

The team at Chater Lodge have helped my mother to settle into her new home with amazing skill. They have been present when she's needed company or help and kept her healthy and busy with regular activities that bring smiles to her face. So reassuring that she is in a safe place.

Swift to help under difficult circumstances on not knowing when my father would be released from hospital. The staff seem very caring, helpful and are clearly experienced. In the time we have known Chater Lodge so far, we have been very impressed indeed.

Excellent respite stay, looked after and cared for by polite and caring staff, deputy manager had to sort out my medication 3 times as it was prescribed wrong, due to her expert eye danger was averted. 100% plus!

My mother is my father's main carer she is 90 and struggling with her own health. We booked them into Barchester Chater Lodge Care Home for a weeks respite. it has done them both the power of good. They were very well looked after in wonderful surroundings with caring staff. Many thanks.

The staff are veyr kind and caring. Keen for the residents to enjoy themselves. They look after the family as well. Comfortable rooms, tasty food. We feel the staff are having to work excessively hard to cover everything that is required of them which they do with great humour and willingness, even

Because of Covid, I have every respect for the staff of Barchester Chater Lodge.
They have worked so hard to ensure the safety, care and wellbeing of their residents.
When you enter, it is not like you are entering into a care home, it is more like your front room! The residents are so relaxed and
happy.
You feel very at ease.
The staff are so welcoming, and the staff on activities makes you feel young again with her enthusiasm.
Well done everyone, 100% recommend.

Really pleased to be able to visit my mum in the covid secure visiting pod on the patio at Chater Lodge. Over the summer and autumn 2020, I had visited Mum outdoors at a 3-meter distance which was, at times, difficult as I was too far away to get much response. Visiting Mum in the pod was much happier
as she was able to recognise me, being much closer, smile, wave and interact. I was grateful that she was accompanied by a member of staff during the visit which helped her to keep focussed and I left our visit feeling we had both had a very positive meeting.

My mum has been at Chater Lodge since 2015 and is very settled there. The standard of care is extremely good, the staff are kind, cheerful and very patient. During the pandemic, they have worked so hard to maintain a sense of normality and I am very grateful for all their hard work at such a challenging
time. There is a real sense of family at this care home, the staff are interested in the residents and are always happy to answer any queries or concerns.

Can't thank the home and the staff enough for taking such good care of Mum during this pandemic. During this time, I had lost my dad and my son-in-law and had a serious road traffic accident, so it was extra hard for me and my family. The staff made regular face time calls with me to allow me to see
and speak to my mum, and now I've been allowed to visit her in the garden, which has been lovely.

My father has now been a resident of Chater for the past year. He has always been extremely pleased with his care and support. In fact, every time I speak to him he comments on the kindness and courtesy of the staff. Everyone has amazing amounts of patience and I have always seen the residents treated
with great respect and kindness.
The manager is excellent and always has time to talk about any health concerns or general inquiries, and she acts immediately.
I know my father is happy and well-cared which gives me peace of mind.

My Mother has been a resident at Chater Lodge for the last year and has settled in so well. She is happy and contented and extremely well looked after. During the last few months and due to the Coronavirus and no visitors allowed, the Staff at Chater Lodge have gone that extra mile to keep my Mother

Zoe

Zoe Postgate

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2012

Hello. My name is Zoe and I am the General Manager at Chater Lodge Care Home. I have worked in care settings since leaving school and have worked my way up from apprentice to my current management position. I joined Chater House in 2012 and was soon promoted to Deputy Manager, and then again to General Manager in 2017. I have nearly completed an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management. I take pride in ensuring the whole team provides high-quality care to all our residents and I enjoy making people laugh and feeling loved.


I like taking on new challenges and learning all the time through new experiences and training. Outside of work, I like to spend my time keeping fit, walking my dogs and sitting in front of a fire reading about my favourite subject - Greek myths.

Mandy Myciuk

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2017

Hello. I am Mandy and 1 have worked in healthcare since 2000, gaining a wide range of care and nursing experience.


I joined Barchester in 2017, working at a home in Grantham as a Care Practitioner. In 2022 I transferred to Chater Lodge to become Deputy Manager and I am currently studying for a Level 5 Management qualification.


I love getting to know residents so I can make their days at our home as happy and comfortable as they can be.


Outside of work, my interests are cycling, keeping fit and spending time with my family.

Hello. I am Donna, the Administrator at Chater House.


I joined the team in 2009 as Administration Assistant and was promoted to Administrator in 2016. I have previously had positions with a customer focus, including working for a large supermarket group and also in a bookshop. My administrative experience includes data analysis, sales, finance and staff recruitment. I have an NVQ2 in Business Administration.


I like getting to know residents and hearing their life stories, as well as getting to know their families and I do my best to help people with their move to our home. I am an energetic person, always have a smile and I like to make people laugh. When I am not at work I love to be outside, either in the garden or taking my dog for a walk.

Maria Durrant

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Joined: 2019

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life.


I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Hello, my name is Marta and I am the Head Chef at Chater Lodge. I have worked at Chater Lodge since 2018.


Cooking is my passion and has been for many years.

Tinumol is a Senior Carer at Chater Lodge and takes great pride in delivering care to our residents. 


She shows compassion in every aspect of her role and loves to spend time with our residents.

Anthony

Anthony Perridge

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Joined: 2023

My name is Anthony but everyone calls me Tony, I am Head of Maintenance here at Chater Lodge. I have been working at Chater Lodge since January 2023. I work closely with both the General Manager and Deputy Manager to make changes within the home that will benefit our residents.


In my spare time, I am part of an amateur dramatics group and enjoy singing various songs, I was also part of a 'Rat pack' group, you will often find me singing to keep our residents entertained.


Michael

Michael Cunningham

Job Title: Resident Amabassador

Joined: 2024

Michael came to Chater Lodge in the summer of 2023, looking for his own care needs he was apprehensive about coming into a care home, initially he came to Chater Lodge for a short stay and then quickly fell in love with the home, its residents and colleagues that he decided to make Chater his home.


Michael was a Major in the British Army for over 40 years and has had so many life experiences in that time and lived in a variety of locations. He says that since the passing of Irene his loving Wife, he has found the new friendships he has forged at Chater Lodge have helped him with his grief.


Michael is so proud to have become the homes Resident Ambassador and is delighted to be given the opportunity to represent our home.
