    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

I am extremely pleased by the care being given to my mother.
All the staff are very caring and professional and can’t do enough to make my mum feel comfortable and loved. I appreciate that it has been very difficult in the last year or so but the home has managed so well. Congratulations to everyone

My mother was booked for a 2-week respite stay to give her the opportunity to socialise and improve her mobility both of which had deteriorated during the pandemic. We were greeted by the Home Manager and her staff who made mum feel very welcome from the outset. Due to current restrictions, I was not
able to see the facilities but there was a very friendly feel to the home as soon as you entered. Unfortunately, she only enjoyed this for 3 nights as she passed away unexpectedly. The staff on duty in the evening was so caring in this difficult situation and the Manager went into the home in order to speak to us. I would highly recommend this home.

A lovely friendly home to stay in they look after me so well. I am on a soft diet and my food is lovely. I love sitting in the different lounges and especially in the lovely garden slept very well and enjoyed waking up to a cup of tea in the morning. Everywhere is so clean, beds changed regularly and
clothes washing is done so well and returned very quickly. Being in the home has made me realise how much the staff have t put up with sometimes. They have to have a lot of patience.

My Uncle has been with Boultham Park House since leaving hospital, whilst he would love to be in his own surroundings, he finds the home welcoming, comfortable and pleasant. The staff have all been amazing and going out of their way to make his life easy and enjoyable. He is happy with his room and
the food is excellent. Friends have been made.
From my perspective, I can relax knowing he is safe and well looked after. Whoever you talk to at the home knows what is happening with him on a day to day basis. Procedures for covid are really good with respect to family visits, which is comforting. As a family, we have been involved with a number of care homes for other family members over the past 10 years. I would not hesitate to say that this home is the best that we have been involved with. A credit to all the staff.

From my first unexpected visit to view Boultham Park House to the last visit, I can honestly say the staff were very pleasant and more than welcoming. It was more than obvious their care for residents was unfaltering. The home is clean, safe, comfortable, light and in a good state of decor. There are
plenty of sociable events made available for residents and always a cuppa for visitors. A very good care home form those who need it.

One big family! That is what it feels like whenever I visit Boultham Park House. All the staff recognise me when I visit and they know who I am visiting, not many places can have that family feel, with finance, kitchen or nursing staff. I have visited a friend since she became a resident at Boultham Park House, Lincoln, in November 2017 and during these visits (until Coronavirus at least weekly) I have witnessed the excellent care and support given by all members of the team. Whilst only 1 room has en-suite facilities the building
and gardens are maintained to a very high standard. I have both personal and professional experience of care homes and would not hesitate to recommend this facility, which is truly a 'home from home'.

Staff are obviously under pressure in current circumstances. They seem to be coping very well with extra duties, (eg booking visits/sanitising visiting room etc), often whilst using PPE in hot weather. The zero infection rate at Boultham Park is a great achievement.

Overall, a very pleasant care home. The only issues I have is that Mum is incapable of using a mobile phone, so when I call the home's landline once a week to have a chat with Mum, it is very difficult to achieve this due to staff shortages, phone not working, no internet connection etc. Surely a better
system could be put in place to be able to speak to my mother?

A lovely, friendly care home.
The staff are so very kind and patient. The home is very clean. A bonus is that my dog is allowed to visit his "Mam". which is lovely.

I visited my mother for her birthday on 4th March, she had very recently been in hospital and was frail. Sitting in a new recliner chair, on a pressure relief cushion, her legs raised, ankles less swollen. She was dressed in an outfit I had bought for her to wear for a niece’s wedding back in 2015.
A cotton two-piece with a turquoise tiny flower print. A purchase to ensure she could wear again and again. I was able to sit down on a new low stool with her, head height next to her. The stool was too low for me, having had a hip operation, I asked one of the staff if I could borrow a cushion, she gave me one immediately. I hadn’t realised the staff were about to lead a Residents’ Meeting, coinciding with the monthly Newsletter. They let me stay with Mum, no question of me having to leave. It was very interesting to see and hear the staff lead the meeting, one member of staff only recently joining the team, the residents relaxed and participating. Humour and reciprocation evident.

My husband came in with me after I broke my shoulder - I was his carer.
We were allocated a double room and was made very comfortable.
We both get looked after and manage to go on some outings together.
Staff are always very pleasant, even though they have all been doing more than their share
due to illness, both residents and staff were hit badly.

Joanne

Joanne Johnson

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2003

Joanne Johnson is the Home Manager at The Orders of St John Care Home, Boultham Park in Lincoln.


Joanne has worked in the care industry for the last twenty-two years, the last fifteen being with The Orders of St John Care Trust. She began my career initially as a Carer, working both days & nights before then being promoted to Care Leader, which gave Joanne the necessary leadership skills to become Head of Care and more recently Home Manager.


As Joanne has developed personally in each role, that passion has never left her and now as the Home manager, she still gets a real satisfaction from engaging with the Residents and helping where she can.


Since working in the industry, Joanne has achieved NVQ Level 2&3 in Health and Social care, Level 3 in effective Management. Jo is a medication champion for the Trust, and an appointed First Aider, who is working towards her level 5 management award.


In 2016, Joanne was presented with a chairman’s commendation for meritorious service which she is extremely proud of.


Every day is different in the life of the care home, usually very busy, but managed effectively by prioritising tasks. Jo has a very approachable nature and has an open-door policy enabling all colleagues, residents and visitors to feel they are able to talk to her.


Joanne’s passion for care of the elderly developed at a young age, having a close relationship with her Grandparents and taking her Grandfather to visit his friends in a variety of care providers, she soon realised that she wanted to support individuals and make a difference where she could.


When not at work, I enjoy foreign travel, socialising, dining out, reading and spending quality time with my husband Richard and my much-loved dog Ollie.
