Monson Care home is a purpose- built care home situated within the bustling city of Lincoln, whilst also enjoying the quietness of being outside the centre.

Monson is one of four care homes owned by Autograph Care, who believe that every person should live the life they wish to live.

At Monson, residents can choose between various rooms, offering generous living accommodation and various views. Each room has a call bell, an attached en-suite shower room, quality furnishings, a private telephone line, digital TV, communal lift to all floors which can access all communal facilities.

Monson has various areas for residents to enjoy, including two lounges and dining areas; a newly- refurbished café, which doubles as a fully equipped cinema, with large projector screen and surround sound.

The ‘snug’ where residents can read a book, or the many newspapers that are delivered daily. Residents are also invited to use the fully enclosed Mediterranean courtyard, with various seating. Monson has a hair salon on site, to meet all hair needs.

Monson does not have a private car park, but there is a public car park at the back of the home, via King Street, which is reasonably priced. Outside the home, it is permit holders only but there are a limited amount of permits, please ask at reception.

Monson Care home fees include 24-hour premium residential and dementia care with fully trained staff, an in-house laundry service, freshly prepared meals from the professional kitchen team, a daily activity plan that is tailor made to each resident ensuring that activities are always person-centred.

Monson is within easy reach of the city centre for all shopping needs, as well as only a short trip to Lincoln’s famous cathedral and castle, boutique stores, and lovely restaurants.

My father has been a resident at Monson Care Home for three years, during that time, there have been many changes and several managers. Earlier this year, a new manager was appointed, and since her arrival, I have noticed many improvements. Most importantly my father is settled and happy, he regularly
tells me that he is well cared for, accepts that he needs support and acknowledges he is in the best place. The staff are friendly, welcoming and informative; they show an interest in my father and have clearly got to know him. The home feels organised, it is bright and airy again and has a good atmosphere. I'm grateful for the changes and feel confident that this will only continue to improve.

I tried to find some short notice respite for my mum for a week, and the team at Monson Care Home did everything they could to get my mum in as quick as they could. They were really responsive and kept me informed along the way and followed up with courtesy calls too. My mum stayed there for just a
week, but everything about her stay there was great - the staff all gave her a lovely welcome and really made her feel at home which was particularly good because this was the first time my mum had been to a home and was quite apprehensive. All her fears disappeared straight away as she was shown around the home. The communal areas were great, with lots of different spaces and seating areas. The best thing of all is how my mum's spirits have been lifted during her stay there, and I think this is down to a combination of all the good things there - the food, the staff, the general atmosphere and the other residents. I would definitely recommend the Monson home based on our experience.

I recently spoke to a senior carer to discuss some aspects of my Nan's mealtime care, given her swallowing concerns. I was so impressed to hear of the lengths they had taken to keep my Nan safe and healthy. Even having food molds so that pureed food looked appetising, regular mouth care and exceptional
care and attention for mealtimes. They were really friendly and eager to discuss ideas to provide the best care possible.
It really came across that staff cared genuinely and deeply for Nan and they enjoyed their job in caring for her.
Sadly, my Nan passed away very recently but it is of great peace of mind to know that she was so well-loved and cared for by staff and treated as if she were their own family member.

Mum has dementia and has lived at Monson for over two years. In February she was hospitalised and returned with end-of-life diagnosis. Two weeks later, lockdown, and our fear she may not survive it.
Mum's conditions 'isolated' her in her bedroom, however, I cannot fault the support, care and love
she received from the staff. I am convinced this kept Mum going - she is happy, smiling and amazingly battling on. It is a testament to Monson that they are still virus-free, and we still have our Mum.
The management always leading by example; keeping me updated with weekly calls, checking on Mum personally (daily), reading letters to her... the list goes on. The carers and household staff going the extra mile when Mum needs them most.
There are no words to express my gratitude. Monson is a special place, happy and full of love. The staff are amazing people, doing extraordinary work in these unprecedented times. They truly are angels, all of them.

This is the only negative review I have ever given and it is done with a heavy heart. After an initially encouraging start, our aunt's 3-month stay was very disappointing, distressing, and ultimately unviable. The care received fell far short of what we had hoped and been led to expect. Some staff
were very good, but I cannot say that overall they were satisfactory.

As a family, we are delighted with the care Mum receives. She was reluctant to go into care at first, but now she is settled.
When I visit Mum she always tells me how well looked after she is, and the staff are extremely conscientious, loving and kind.
She has a lovely room, which she likes very
much. The care home is spotlessly clean, the dining room is always set to a high standard with good food.
I visit at many different times of the day and excellence is always the same. I can ask to see senior management at any time and all issues are handled well. When Mum was unwell a Dr was called, appropriate medication was dispensed. And mum really liked the Dr.
Mum can have her hair done every week in the lovely salon, and I've noticed her nails are painted beautifully. Mum doesn't always wish to partake in the activities that are available to her but many residents do.

Overall I am pleased that my mum is having her needs met and I know that changes have been made to accommodate her. I feel that I should be kept more informed of her care and issues that have arisen. I'm glad that my mum has made friends with residents and staff. Some staff seem to genuinely enjoy her
company. There is an issue with messages being passed on and there is often a very long wait for the door to be answered.

Monson Retirement Home provides high quality, person-centred care.


All areas of the home are comfortable and extremely clean and the residents are treated with dignity and respect by staff. Rooms are individualised and carefully thought out to provide maximum comfort. All residents have their own

bathroom and personal care is carried out with empathy.


Residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible and make choices for themselves about what they want to eat and do.


The facilities include a cinema, shop, nail bar, hairdressers and a bar area with a pool table to enable residents to have as many life choices as possible.


Little touches by staff show their understanding of each resident as an individual.

My mother is a resident at Monson Street. She is extremely happy here, as she keeps telling me and my sister. The carers are fantastic and loving, the food is good (again she keeps telling us). The owners and staff have built a real home for people needing help.


PLUS, it was our mother's 100th birthday

on the 17th July. The owners allowed us to have the party in the home, and they participated in the success of the event. They even dressed up as William and Kate to deliver the Queen's birthday card. They allocated staff for the event, and we had an exceptional afternoon.


I cannot say how happy and pleased we are with Monson Street Retirement Home.
BRAVO.

Monson Retirement Home is an amazing place with exceptionally well-trained staff who are kind and attentive to all the residents.
My mother moved here after a spell in hospital. She was struggling to walk and was unable to look after herself. She is now a different person and more like the mum I love
and remember. The home worked hard with the CPN to correct the medication for her dementia and she is now happy and active. When we visit she always looks lovely and has made friends with a lovely group of ladies. If the weather is nice she is out most days in town having a coffee with other residents. Thank you.

My aunt sadly has been having real problems with mobility and looking after herself at home and was going downhill at home.
After lots of research we found a local home in Lincoln with an outstanding from the Care Quality Commission a few months ago.


On my visits, I have been so impressed with the

home itself which is always spotless and comfortable but even more so by the care.
I have seen staff interacting both with my aunt but also with other residents with other problems like dementia and I can't believe how patient and reassuring they are. The respect shown to all residents is the most remarkable aspect of the home and the most reassuring thing I have seen.
My aunt has made a remarkable recovery now she is getting the care she needs at Monson Street. She is now more mobile than she has been in six months and enjoying life again.
It's an amazing place and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Anna

Anna Pacyna

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2024

My name is Anna Pacyna and I believe my passion for looking after our elderly population started when I was looking after my grandfather. He was unwell and was palliative in his care.


I have worked in the care industry for over 12 years.


I started working in care, as a care assistant. I then moved into a senior carer role, and after 10 years, I was promoted to the Deputy Manager position. After a further year, I took over as the Registered Manager at a Care Home in Welbourn.


I know how challenging all the roles in a care home are, also how difficult it can be for new residents and their loved ones making that transition into care.


All the staff at Monson are supportive and happy to help with any questions.


Joanne

Joanne Varey

Job Title: Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2022

Joanne has been Monson's activity coordinator for a couple of years. She ensures that all residents receive person-centred activities, tailor-made to each resident's needs. Joanne is in charge of organising the daily activities, booking regular entertainment, whether that be in the form of singers, animal therapy and community engagements within the local area, as well as arranging day trips out of the home.


Joanne likes to spend her free time with her family, participating in weekly quizzes, and roller skating and is a season ticket holder at Lincoln City FC.


The best thing about Joanne's job is making the residents laugh, knowing that she has kept people engaged and fulfilled.


Lindsey

Lindsey Carr

Job Title: Head of maintenance

Joined: 2017

Lindsey is our head of maintenance and has worked at Monson for a number of years, dealing with any maintenance issues that may arise. Lindsey is a valued team member and nothing is too much trouble, often helping out other departments when needed.


Lindsey likes to spend her free time walking her dog, spending time with her family and watching her favourite football team- Manchester United.


Lindsey enjoys working at Monson as she feels that every day is different, you never know what challenges may arise next.

Lisa Hilton

Job Title: Head housekeeper.

Joined: 2021

Lisa has been head housekeeper at Monson, for over 3 years, but has worked in various other establishments in her 15 year career.
Lisa ensures that her team runs smoothly on a day to day basis, ensuring all the homes laundry and housekeeping needs are met.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys going to the theatre, especially in London, and shopping.
The best part about Lisa's job- ensuring the residents are happy and have no issues, chatting to them on a daily basis.

Amanda has just recently joined Monson but she has settled well into her role of Head chef.
Amanda has worked in the catering industry since she was 17 yrs old, working in various different places.

Wayne has worked at Monson for nearly a year. He started as a carer but soon realised his heart was in cooking and so moved to chef when a vacancy became available.
Wayne has worked in catering for around 14 years within the hospital environment.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar, cycling, art and spending time with his family.
Wayne enjoys cooking for the residents and spending time talking to them when possible.

Holly Mountcastle

Job Title: Receptionist

Holly has been at Monson for approx. 5 months, having previously worked at Tesco whilst finishing university.
Holly enjoys spending recreational time gaming or drawing, whilst spending time with her cat.
Holly feels that Monson is a lovely home, the staff and residents are nice and the home has an all-round lovely environment.

Diana Coteata

Job Title: Day senior

Diana has worked at Monson for nearly a year but has worked within the care industry for 6 years.
Diana runs the day team, as well as the able recovery beds.
Diana enjoys reading, and is currently training to be a counsellor in psychology.
Diana enjoys working at Monson because it is has such a good energy and homely feel, she enjoys working with her team and enjoys chatting to all the residents and their families.

Sophie has been at Monson for about a year and half on our night senior team.
Sophie has worked in the care sector for almost 5 years, starting her career on bank at another care home.

Marie is part of our ARB (active recovery beds) team, looking after residents who have been discharged from hospital and who need some reablement to prepare them to live independently within their own homes.
Marie spends her time looking after her family, and spending time with family and friends.
Marie feels that the home has a lovely atmosphere, and enjoys working with her team.


Paul

Paul Hanson

Job Title: Head of Care- days

Joined: 2020

Paul has worked at Monson, on days, for nearly 5 years, 2 of which have been Head of Care.


Paul has worked in various different departments within the care sector, for over 20 years. He has previously worked with adults with learning difficulties and adults with various addictions but decided his heart was caring for the elderly.


In Paul's spare time, he enjoys watching movies and going for leisurely walks with his partner and their new bulldog.


Paul enjoys working at Monson as he feels that it is his second home, as well as having a close working relationship with all the staff.
