Monson Care home is a purpose- built care home situated within the bustling city of Lincoln, whilst also enjoying the quietness of being outside the centre.

Monson is one of four care homes owned by Autograph Care, who believe that every person should live the life they wish to live.

At Monson, residents can choose between various rooms, offering generous living accommodation and various views. Each room has a call bell, an attached en-suite shower room, quality furnishings, a private telephone line, digital TV, communal lift to all floors which can access all communal facilities.

Monson has various areas for residents to enjoy, including two lounges and dining areas; a newly- refurbished café, which doubles as a fully equipped cinema, with large projector screen and surround sound.

The ‘snug’ where residents can read a book, or the many newspapers that are delivered daily. Residents are also invited to use the fully enclosed Mediterranean courtyard, with various seating. Monson has a hair salon on site, to meet all hair needs.

Monson does not have a private car park, but there is a public car park at the back of the home, via King Street, which is reasonably priced. Outside the home, it is permit holders only but there are a limited amount of permits, please ask at reception.

Monson Care home fees include 24-hour premium residential and dementia care with fully trained staff, an in-house laundry service, freshly prepared meals from the professional kitchen team, a daily activity plan that is tailor made to each resident ensuring that activities are always person-centred.

Monson is within easy reach of the city centre for all shopping needs, as well as only a short trip to Lincoln’s famous cathedral and castle, boutique stores, and lovely restaurants.

After searching over a week for a care home for Mum. We came across Monson Retirement Home. It was lively and had other sociable people. Plenty going on which was perfect. Mum had never wanted to be in a care home because of everything she had been told.
As soon as she walked in, she was very impressed
with the décor, the staff and the lovely welcoming atmosphere.


She was so impressed that her respite care has turned into a permanent stay.


She says she feels she is living in luxury.

My mum is a retired nurse. She has seen it all in the care sector and always made us promise never to make her live in a residential home. But with her care needs increasing, we decided that we had to look for help. We visited 12 care homes in 6 months and every time mum would make us promise not to
take her back.
A friend referred us to Monson.
When I walked in, I was shocked. There was no smell. The entire building was spotless and the dining room looked like it was set for a big occasion.
Mum enjoyed her stay, she loved all of the staff, she especially enjoyed Sherry Friday, the fish and chips and the entertainment.
She had a lot of praise for the home and was quickly convinced that somewhere like Monson could become a permanent stay.
We could not be happier with the outcome and can not thank the staff enough for making mum feel so welcome.
I would highly recommend the home to any family in a similar position.

My mother stayed in Monson for 3 weeks while we went away.
Before she went in, she was unsteady on her feet and had a poor appetite.
She came home a different lady, she had put on weight and was walking without her frame.
She has even been able to enjoy the garden at home as she was gardening
at Monson.
She spoke about how lovely all the carers were and often went in the office to talk to the management.
The home is bright, clean and modern. Mum has booked herself back in for 2 weeks in July and can't wait to go back.
She said it's like a 5-star hotel only cheaper.
The bedroom had an ensuite and the food was excellent.

I have been to the home to see my life long friend. He was terrified at going into a care home but now is so happy he would never leave. The staff and building are just fantastic. There are so many facilities and everything is pristine. We feel like they are on an all inclusive holiday. His room
is large with a private bathroom en-suite but he is never there. The rest of the people are so sociable he spends his days surrounded by great company. I worried about visits but the place is lovely. I go often to see my good friend.

My mother always said "never put me in a care home" but after being diagnosed with dementia she came to live with me and my husband. We have struggled so much and recently made the hardest decision of our lives.
We walked into Monson Retirement Home and it had a lovely homely feel to it.
We were
shown around by a lovely lady. She understood the guilt we were going through.
The home was very clean. The residents were out in the garden. Some were even doing the planting of new bulbs. Others were sat chatting.

I still feel very guilty about putting her into full-time care but I know she is well looked after.
She gets on with everyone, she is always out on day trips - she's very happy.
It's her birthday next week and we have been invited to come and join mum for a meal in the bar area.
The children are also coming with us. They love seeing gran because Monson has kids play zone with an Xbox.
This place is definitely the best I have seen
I would certainly recommend it.

The home is friendly warm and welcoming. A safe environment especially for people suffering dementia. The staff are patient and understanding, nothing appears to be too much trouble. The home is very different from most whereby residents are quietly encouraged to join in with daily activities and outings.
There is always something going on most days. They have a lovely bar area and also an outside garden where summer parties take place. A lovely home to be in if 24 hours care is required. Very well run by the management and I am really impressed.

I have moved my Nan across several homes over a period of a couple of years. When I entered Monson Retirement Home I could have cried. I was so emotional because finally, I have seen a home that is a truly wonderful and pleasant place to be. I had been horrified by places she has been in or visited.


You

instantly feel the genuine love and care for the residents, and it is clear looking around the home that the residents are well cared for (they looked so very smart!), and happy! The ethos of this home seems totally different to nearly all others I have been in, and facilities and activities are excellent. They even have their cinema, hairdresser, chiropodist, as well as their own bar and were having a Christmas tipple, cake and a sing song!


It is clear these people actually CARE!


Please visit this home if you are considering a home for you or your loved one. I wish I had found this place a long time ago as this would have saved a lot of worry and heartache about my Nan.

I think it's lovely, nothing wrong with it. We go on trips, transport arranged, I love the coffee/cake while we are out. We have a lovely flower garden to relax in, it's wonderful. I feel if I can't live at home this is the place to be. I'm well cared for. Staff are great, kind, helpful, food is tasty.
I get as much as I like and good choices. I have made good friends with the ladies and staff. My room is great, I worry about going in the lift but staff come with me and make me feel at ease.

I was sceptical at first, hear lots of bad stories about homes. This one is quite simply outstanding, from the moment you walk in, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The facilities are immaculately clean, well laid out and presented. My mother was well looked after during her short break and

When Mum came home after a weeks restbite it was like she had gone back 2 years, she was walking better, more alert, we could not believe the difference. We thought she may have to go into a care home permanently but now she is coping in her own home with just assistance in a morning and evening.
The
change in her is unbelievable, the care she received was outstanding it is like she has her life back again. I would not hesitate to recommend this amazing residential home, everything from the accommodation, facilities and staff is excellent in every way. Thanks for giving me my Mum back.

I have found the care and facilities outstanding. All aspects of my mum's needs are being met. Facilities are of a high standard - clean, well maintained and appropriate for the tasks in hand. My mum is settling in well and seems to enjoy her associations with fellow residents and staff. Her health

My mother had to go into respite care as an emergency after a fall at home. Monson Retirement Home staff came immediately to see us and their sensitive and caring approach was a great comfort to myself and my mother. During her stay she was very well cared for and there were activities she could join
in and socialise if she wished. She enjoyed the musical afternoon! She also very much enjoyed her meals and sitting at a table with other people.

The home has very good facilities - and provides clean, airy and pleasant surroundings for the residents. The administrator and care staff are very welcoming, friendly and approachable. It is good that there are always staff around, the seating areas showed any resident require assistance and there
is a good support between staff and residents. Residents who are physically able are taken out to cafe's and museums etc. which helps to keep them in touch with the outside world.

I've lived here for some time now and I think it's lovely. I love my room, the food is lovely and I think the staff are wonderful. The entertainment is fantastic and I always have fun. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else but here at Monson.

What a surprise we got when we were looking for a care home for my mother-in-law. We arrived at Monson Retirement Home, expecting to see a typical care home, with residents sitting in hospital type arm chairs, doing nothing, a television playing to itself and decoration no-one would dream of having
in their own homes. How wrong we were! Monson Retirement Home is more like a boutique hotel than a retirement home. The staff were happy and plenty of them, chatting to the residents and joining in with the sing-a-long that they were enjoying. Mum's bedroom is lovely, with a large en-suite bathroom which was spotlessly clean. Nice carpets, curtains and matching bedspread. We were shown the dining room, which would not be out of place in any good quality restaurant . The kitchen was open to the dining area and was spotless.
The lounge is nicely furnished with proper armchairs, coffee tables and carpets that wouldn't look out of place in anyone's home.


How many care homes have their own hairdressing salon, cinema room and when the new extension is finished A PUB!!!! We couldn't believe what we were seeing.
But what impressed us more than anything was that there was NO care home smell. Mum is very happy there, safe, clean, well fed and well cared for.


There are many care homes that could do with seeing what an excellent care home can do and pay Monson Retirement Home a visit.


I hope there is a room for me when the time comes for me to need care. I can thoroughly recommend this home to everyone.

Anna

Anna Pacyna

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2024

My name is Anna Pacyna and I believe my passion for looking after our elderly population started when I was looking after my grandfather. He was unwell and was palliative in his care.


I have worked in the care industry for over 12 years.


I started working in care, as a care assistant. I then moved into a senior carer role, and after 10 years, I was promoted to the Deputy Manager position. After a further year, I took over as the Registered Manager at a Care Home in Welbourn.


I know how challenging all the roles in a care home are, also how difficult it can be for new residents and their loved ones making that transition into care.


All the staff at Monson are supportive and happy to help with any questions.


Joanne

Joanne Varey

Job Title: Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2022

Joanne has been Monson's activity coordinator for a couple of years. She ensures that all residents receive person-centred activities, tailor-made to each resident's needs. Joanne is in charge of organising the daily activities, booking regular entertainment, whether that be in the form of singers, animal therapy and community engagements within the local area, as well as arranging day trips out of the home.


Joanne likes to spend her free time with her family, participating in weekly quizzes, and roller skating and is a season ticket holder at Lincoln City FC.


The best thing about Joanne's job is making the residents laugh, knowing that she has kept people engaged and fulfilled.


Lindsey

Lindsey Carr

Job Title: Head of maintenance

Joined: 2017

Lindsey is our head of maintenance and has worked at Monson for a number of years, dealing with any maintenance issues that may arise. Lindsey is a valued team member and nothing is too much trouble, often helping out other departments when needed.


Lindsey likes to spend her free time walking her dog, spending time with her family and watching her favourite football team- Manchester United.


Lindsey enjoys working at Monson as she feels that every day is different, you never know what challenges may arise next.


Lisa

Lisa Hilton

Job Title: Head housekeeper.

Lisa has been head housekeeper at Monson, for over 3 years, but has worked in various other establishments in her 15 year career.
Lisa ensures that her team runs smoothly on a day to day basis, ensuring all the homes laundry and housekeeping needs are met.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys going to the theatre, especially in London, and shopping.
The best part about Lisa's job- ensuring the residents are happy and have no issues, chatting to them on a daily basis.

Amanda has just recently joined Monson but she has settled well into her role of Head chef.
Amanda has worked in the catering industry since she was 17 yrs old, working in various different places.


Wayne

Wayne Stokes

Wayne has worked at Monson for nearly a year. He started as a carer but soon realised his heart was in cooking and so moved to chef when a vacancy became available.
Wayne has worked in catering for around 14 years within the hospital environment.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar, cycling, art and spending time with his family.
Wayne enjoys cooking for the residents and spending time talking to them when possible.


Holly

Holly Mountcastle

Job Title: Receptionist

Holly has been at Monson for approx. 5 months, having previously worked at Tesco whilst finishing university.
Holly enjoys spending recreational time gaming or drawing, whilst spending time with her cat.
Holly feels that Monson is a lovely home, the staff and residents are nice and the home has an all-round lovely environment.


Diana

Diana Coteata

Job Title: Day senior

Diana has worked at Monson for nearly a year but has worked within the care industry for 6 years.
Diana runs the day team, as well as the able recovery beds.
Diana enjoys reading, and is currently training to be a counsellor in psychology.
Diana enjoys working at Monson because it is has such a good energy and homely feel, she enjoys working with her team and enjoys chatting to all the residents and their families.

Sophie has worked in the care sector for almost 5 years, starting her career on bank at another care home.

Marie is part of our ARB (active recovery beds) team, looking after residents who have been discharged from hospital and who need some reablement to prepare them to live independently within their own homes.
Marie spends her time looking after her family, and spending time with family and friends.
Marie feels that the home has a lovely atmosphere, and enjoys working with her team.

Paul Hanson

Job Title: Head of Care- days

Paul has worked at Monson, on days, for nearly 5 years, 2 of which have been Head of Care.


Paul has worked in various different departments within the care sector, for over 20 years. He has previously worked with adults with learning difficulties and adults with various addictions but decided his heart was caring for the elderly.


In Paul's spare time, he enjoys watching movies and going for leisurely walks with his partner and their new bulldog.


Paul enjoys working at Monson as he feels that it is his second home, as well as having a close working relationship with all the staff.
